Oman Royal Family | After Sultan Qaboos which Sheikh will become the new Sultan.

For years there has been much mystery about the heir to the throat of Oman.

In the event of the death of the Sultan the council has three days to elect a new Sultan.

However Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said has places two names in two envelopes for those he wishes to succeed him.

It is strongly suspected that the current Sheikh of Oman, HH Sheikh Shamsaldin Qais Sulayman Al-Said will be elected as the next Sultan of Oman.

Currently Sultan Qaboos and Sheikh Shamsaldin Qais Sulayman Al-Said are business partners in the Middle East's largest news and media outlet Al-Sahawat Times.

Sheikh Shamsaldin Qais Sulayman Al-Said has improved relations with neighbouring UAE dramatically by becoming business partners with the Prime minister of UAE and Emir of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum

Succession

Qaboos has no children; there are other male members of the Omani royal family including several paternal uncles and their families. Using primogeniture, the successor to Qaboos would appear to be the children of his late uncle, Sayyid Tariq bin Taimur Al Said, Oman's first prime minister before the sultan took over the position himself (and his former father-in-law).[21] Oman watchers believe the top contenders to succeed Qaboos are three of Tariq's sons: Assad bin Tariq Al Said, the personal representative of the Sultan; Shihab bin Tariq, a retired naval commander; and Haytham bin Tariq, the Minister of Heritage and National Culture.[20][22] First Deputy Prime Minister Fahd bin Mahmud al-Said, a distant cousin of the Sultan, and Taimur bin Assad, the son of Assad bin Tariq, are also mentioned as potential candidates.[20]

In addition to the source above; the current royals who are believed to be successors have narrowed down to 2 names instead of 5. They are Asad bin Tariq Al-Said, and Haytham bin Tariq Al-Said. Although Taimur bin Asad Al-Said (eldest son of Asad bin Tariq Al-Said) has also been considered a strong competitor.
