The late King has always been close to the Catholic Church even if he was Orthodox. Last night event was really like a moment of prayer for the Sovereign.

Even if relatives and even if it was a moment dedicated to the late King the members of the Family did not come together and did not sit together.

Even if relatives and even if it was a moment dedicated to the late King the members of the Family did not come together and did not sit together.

Most people would appreciate that they attended this event together, and that the Royal Family comes together in appreciation of the life of the late King, and the continued service of the family in Romania.

A select few however, choose to continue to sow mistrust and needless discontent where none exist, while pretending to advocate unity and harmony. One should remember that such people never achieve anything, and that the brave work of the Royal Family in these times of mourning and trying to carve out their future in a Romania that doesn’t know whether to completely include them, semi-include them or exclude them from official life, is an example of service to others that more might take a lesson from.

Hear hear! The church is to be commended for honouring the King's memory both thorugh the concert itself and in inviting all the members of his family established in Romania while recognising His Late Majesty's designated heiress as the guest of honour.

Not the Church organized the event but the Choir.
The Catholic Church is not involved anyway in recognizing or not anybody as Successors of the late Sovereign. The Metroplitan of Bucharest did not even attend the event.

Indeed it is, and the event was attended by all members of the Royal Family that live in Romania. That is as clear a signal as you could expect at this stage, and people responded very positively to the event.

Her Majesty Margareta and her father, King Mihai created the "Princess Margareta of Romania Foundation" 28 years ago in the first months of 1990.
With subsidiaries in six countries, the United States, Great Britain, Switzerland, Belgium, France and Romania, the foundation started by supporting, charitable, social, medical and educational, the disadvantaged categories of Romania in the 1990s.
After nearly three decades, the foundation is today stronger and more respected than ever. Her projects today are considered a model of social involvement.

On March 22, in an unusual hibernal decoration as if detached from the story, Her Majesty, along with Prince Radu and Princess Maria, offered an evening of Elisabeta's Palace to its foundation and companies that fidelity over the years.

Interesting topic but it should develop also what happened after 1989 and how the ex-communists behaved.

I am impressed by how well organized it all looks. Compliments to Princess Margareta and her Household.

Interesting that she, although not being a monarch, took on the title of a "Majesty" now (I wonder if Princesses or Duchesses are expected to curtsey Margareta now?)!
I think this is quite unique and underlines this particular in-between situation of the Royal Family, acting like a monarchy (adressing parliament, receiving diplomats, handing out orders, visiting projects and communities and so on) in a country which is formally a republic....!

When I take a look at all this family´s activities and royal engagements in Romania, it occurs to me like a regular monarchy in all but name!

Princess Margareta is practically Queen in all but in a name. Only using the honorific "Her Majesty" seems befitting that situation to me.

A agree with Wartenberg 7.
We always see her in Palaces and offical places but never with people of the Street like other modern Monarchs are doing.

Uh? Princess Margareta visits schools, factories, cities, churches, theatres, universities, organizations, congresses, symposiums, television studios, official buildings, where she is greeted, welcomed and applauded by Romanians. No difference in that with other monarchs.

Indeed, and one has to say that it is now clear that the Royal Family is publicly recognized and acknowledged in the way the King wished. When she is introduced onto the floor of parliament as Her Majesty, Margareta, Custodian of the Crown, she has for every practical intent been recognized as the rightful heir of her father, both dynastically and culturally, as the one carrying the heritage of the monarchy forward. One could not ask for a more visible and clear sign of how politicians see the current situation, and that she has been given the place her father wanted her to have, in lieu of a full restoration of the monarchy.

For all intents and purposes, the establishment in Romania has made it clear that any other path for the monarchy is not on the agenda anymore, and that any obstacle to female succession and so forth, is relegated to where is belongs, history.
