Beautiful recents photos of the Royal Castle of Savarsin:

Săvârșin Castle looks like a beautiful country residence and also appears to be still undergoing restoration in parts.

Elisabeta Palace belongs to the State while Savarsin Castle will always remain as a private property of the Royal Family.

Savarsin is directly supervised by the Royal Family but another property would be Peles .

Peles and Pelisor are HM the King's properties even if the administration of both of them is still in the hands of the state.Foisor is still used as an official residence for the national authorities.

The Habsburgs do not seem to sell the Romanian Castle of Bran even if some newspapers announced it:

The Telegraph: Castelul Bran, scos la vânzare. Reacţia familiei Habsburg - Mediafax

It meant a lot to Princess Ileana too.

In Queen Marie's study, the chairs and desks are decorated with the symbols of the lily and the Celtic cross.

The German sculptor Martin Stohr made the Entrance of Honour of the Inner Courtyard.

Of which palace/residence?

The German sculptor Martin Stohr made the Entrance of Honour of the Inner Courtyard of Peles Castle.

Vlad Tepes (Prince Vlad III) was imprisoned in Corvinesti Castle during his youth for seven years.

The entrance hallway of Cotroceni Palace is a replica of Paris Opera in a French neoclassic style.

During the First World War, the German army occupied Cotroceni Palace.
The peace talks with the messengers of the Central Powers was held at the palace in 1918.

The Golden Room is absolutely beautiful and very impressive.

Is Savarsin the only estate belonging to the family?

No. They also own the two palaces at Sinaia.

When the crown princess becomes head of house, will these residences remain in their hands? Or, we're they only returned for the king during his lifetime? This might be a stupid question, but the links here are old and can't access some.

Yes, but when he passes... Do they get to stay with the family? I.E. The crown princess, princess Helen, prince Nicolae, etc.

They will be inherited by the 5 Princesses.

They do not live in the castle anyway.

Its a pity its being sold given its a landmark castle & its rich royal history.

Of course they don't! Until it is sold it belongs to someone else. My comment was because it meant so much to Queen Marie.

In Hunedoara, far away from Bran Castle.

Where do romanian royal family members live?

King/Queen -palace Elisabeth
Crown couple -castle Peles?
Prince Nicolae -apartment in Bucharest
Others?

Unfortunately for the moment Cotroceni Palace is not used by the Royal Family.

Cotroceni Palace was a also linked with an Orthodox Monastery and the Prince Serban Cantacuzino really cared about it.

Queen Maria's heart. According to her Will her heart was taken out of her body and stored in a silver box, wrapped in a double standard with on the one side the Romanian flag, the flag of Great Britain on the other. (Queen Maria was born Princess Marie of Edinburgh, Queen Victoria was her grandmother). In turn, this box was placed into another box, with gilded silver ornaments and precious stones. The box was placed in a special chapel.

In 1968 the Communists de-sacrated the Chapel and removed the box. Since then Queen Maria's heart was stored in a depôt in the National History Museum in Bucharest. In Fall, the Queen's heart will be transferred to Pelisor Castle, with some ceremony.
