Tribute to King Mihai I on Via Transilvanica, in the year in which 100 years have passed since his birth: in Banatul Montan, at the foot of the Semenic Mountains, a special landmark was erected, depicting the sovereign. The event took place yesterday afternoon, in the presence of the king's grandson Nicolae al Romaniei, and marks the completion of the Via Transilvanica section of Caraş-Severin County.
Alin Ușeriu - the president of Tășuleasa Social and initiator of the Via Transilvanica project, Nicolae al Romaniei - the grandson of King Mihai and ambassador of Via Transilvanica, and Ioan Popa - the mayor of Reșița and the one who practically brought Via Transilvanica through the Semenic Mountains, mounted last night, the landmark dedicated to King Mihai I, in a place with a symbolic load, on the Banat section of the road that connects Romania from Bucovina to the Danube. It is located about four kilometers from Villa Klaus, an area used as a resting place by King Carol II, when he came hunting in the forests of Semenic, and where the future King Mihai spent a school year.
Nicolae expressed his conviction that “every tourist who passes by the landmark will thus have contact with a recent history and, perhaps, will start to learn about the impact that Romania and King Mihai had on Europe".
