Nicolae al Romaniei and his wife, Alina, are waiting in a few weeks for the birth of their first child
Nicolae al Romaniei and his wife, Alina, are excited to wait for their first child to be born.
The 35-year-old grandson of the late King Mihai posted, a few days ago, a series of photos with him and his wife, Alina de Roumanie (32 years old), specifying that they have to wait a few more weeks until there are three.
In these photos, Alina de Roumanie, dressed in a cheerful summer dress, displays a fairly developed pregnancy, a sign that, not long after, she will hold in her arms the first heir, although the deadline for the birth is in November.

"Like every fall, the school opens its doors to thousands of students, the beginning of the school year representing a new stage in their lives. Each school was concerned, with the support of local authorities, to ensure a comfortable climate for conducting courses in the best conditions.
There are big emotions, expectations, new projects that need to be continued. Education is a continuous fire that involves a lot of dedication from teachers and interest in knowledge from students.
For us, education is of the utmost importance and we want to be with the students this school year as well. We set out to continue the project ‘History of Royalty in Schools’ because it was received and supported with interest and concern for the history of hundreds of students and teachers.
Good luck in the new school year!

"Today would have been my grandmother's birthday, Queen Anne. I spent a few moments in prayer at the New Cathedral in Curtea de Arges where my grandparents rest and where I feel closest to them. May God rest them in His Kingdom!"

"I was invited with my wife, Alina-Maria, to the Synagogue in Caranșebeș on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.
We were honored to pray with the Jewish community for the memory and deeds of Queen Mother Elena, King Mihai and Queen Ana. There were emotional moments and we thank the organizers for the beautiful words addressed to the Royal Family on this special occasion."
Speech in Caransebeș September 18, 2020
“I am honored and excited to respond to the invitation of the Jewish Community of Caransebeș, to the celebration of the Jewish New Year 5781, Ros Hashan.
In the Jewish spiritual tradition, in these moments, Jews everywhere gather in the Temple of God, in prayers of thanksgiving and gratitude, in the spirit of unity and solidarity, of creative love.
I am here out of respect for the Jewish people and for the Jewish communities in our country who have given the world and Romania a cultural heritage of invaluable values.
I am here in memory of my great-grandmother, Queen Mother Elena and my grandfather, King Mihai I of Romania, for me always living examples of the spirit of sacrifice and unconditional humanity.
This splendid synagogue, built 124 years ago, during the reign of King Carol I, is one of the testimonies of the appreciation and consideration that the Family in which I was born and the Romanian Crown gave to the Jewish communities in Romania.
At the completion of the Country Project, Greater Romania in 1918, the Romanian people, King Ferdinand and Queen Maria, enjoyed the significant contribution of your grandparents and great-grandparents. Eternal gratitude!
May the New Year bring in your families, of all Jews in Romania and around the world, full health, as many joys as possible, the desired accomplishments, long peace and well-being, new horizons of inspiration.
Shanah Tovah! Happy New Year!"

I know that Nicholas had been involved with promoting reading and literature. Has he ever written a book?

EXCLUSIVE. Prince Nicolae of Romania: "I hope that the arrival of a child will bring us closer to the Royal Family"

In an exclusive interview for Adevărul, Prince Nicolae of Romania spoke about his first child he will have with his wife, Alina-Maria, about how her pregnancy went, about his desire to get closer to the Royal Family and about the chances of the monarchy returning to Romania.
Nicolae al Romaniei, the granson of King Mihai I, announced on June 1 that his wife, Alina-Maria, is pregnant and will give birth in November of this year. King Mihai's grandson married Alina Binder on September 30, 2018 at St. Elijah's Church in Sinaia. A graduate in 2012 of the Royal Holloway College at the University of London, specializing in management, Nicolae al Romaniei has since dedicated himself to the cause of Romania, being involved in numerous charitable actions. Born and raised abroad, he first arrived in Romania in 1992, when he was seven years old, on the occasion of his grandfather's first visit after the beginning of the exile in 1948. It is the first interview in which Nicolae al Romaniei talks about his future child. And on the occasion of the extensive conversation I had, I discovered a very kind interlocutor, always with a smile on his face and a lot of respect for the values transmitted by his illustrious predecessors.
How much has it changed that you will be a father?
- (Smiles) As I think everyone knows, I've been a father for a few years now, but of course now the context is different. I am sure that from November my life will change a lot and of course for the better. We are now preparing ourselves more mentally. We are very happy to hear this news and our future child.
Are you ready for the next sleepless nights?
- (Laughs) I understand that sleepless nights will come right after the baby is born. Sleepless nights will be a part of this special story, and whether we like it or not, that's it. We are here for the baby and we have to be careful, it doesn't matter if we sleep or not. Our efforts will be focused on raising the child to be healthy and happy, that is the most important thing.
How is your wife's pregnancy going so far and when is the birth expected?
- So far my wife has been very well, very relaxed and happy. It has been an easy task and we enjoy it. My wife has had no problems or other challenges at all. Regarding the date of birth, it will be in early November, in Bucharest, and we hope it will be a natural birth.
Have you already considered one or more first names for your child?
- We have several first names in mind, but we haven't chosen yet. We will wait until this miracle appears and then we will decide.
From what I understand, the baptism will be at Curtea de Argeş. Was it a choice with the soul, considering that your ancestors are buried there and that you have a special relationship with Archbishop Calinic?
- (Smiles) Indeed, I have a special relationship with Archbishop Calinic. I have not yet chosen a place for baptism, but Curtea de Argeş is one of the options. Among the options is Sinaia. I haven't made a decision yet. There is still time until baptism, so we have time to consider more places.
Will the baptism be in January, as it was circulated at one point?
- I still haven't chosen a day or a month. We need to look at the situation, because we have all been through this difficult period of the pandemic and we do not know what will happen next when winter comes. We'll see what the situation will be like when the cold comes.
How have you adapted, including with your wife's pregnancy, to this difficult period of the pandemic?
- It was a difficult time for everyone. We enjoyed the moments we spent together. I have stayed closer to my wife's family during this time. I think that in this period of the pandemic, many Romanians have analyzed more their lives and what is more important for each one. It's a great joy for us, no matter what gender the child is.
There are some rumors that you will have a baby girl.
- We don't announce yet if our child will be a girl or a boy. For us it is a great joy, no matter what gender the child will be.
But will the child be a girl?
- (Laughs) I'm not telling you yet.
Will members of the Royal Family also be invited to baptism?
- Of course. It also depends on what the restrictions will be because of the pandemic. I will invite my family and I hope that the arrival of a child will bring us closer. I would like to introduce my aunt and uncle to my child, I think the child could have a lot to learn from them.
Are you thinking of other children in the future?
- Yes, we want at least two children. We will take everything step by step, progressively (smiles). I don't know if you know, but life changes a lot when a baby comes into your life.
I know, I have a little girl, and because of her, my life and my wife's life has changed a lot and beautifully. With sleepless nights.
- Congratulations!
Thank you. In October 2019, when you were present with your wife at the funeral of Queen Elena from Curtea de Argeş, there were many who shouted: "King Nicolae". On September 30, 2018, when you arrived at the church in Sinaia for the religious wedding, many people shouted: "Long live the future king of Romania!". What message do you have for all these people?
- I am honored that people support us in this way. But what is important is to be united and keep alive the memories of kings and queens and to continue their moral values. I am very glad that the memory of King Mihai is still alive.
But can the special values left by your predecessors be continued under the current constitutional form in Romania?
- Values, I think so. But not like before. Not like in a kingdom, for example. We try to live with these special moral values, I will pass them on to my child. And I think each of us can do the same. We can each tell our children what each king and queen did for the country and how they behaved with the people.
Would a return to the monarchy in Romania be a utopia?
- It is very difficult to give you an answer at this time. But I believe that it is possible that during my life Romania will return to a monarchy. But I think we all need to want that, and we need to be united and work together on this goal.

Nicholas has not yet written a book.

However, along with members of his family, he did cooperate in the publication of The Road Home, which details Nicholas' life up until 2015. It is an insightful and fun read, for those interested in modern royals of this age - especially one who has had such a fascinating trajectory. Nicholas' mother Helen, his stepfather Alex, his sister Karina, his aunts Margarita and Marie, and other relations and friends all contributed to the book.

Interesting interview. I would hope a baby would bring any family together and help to heal the wounds but that's not always the case. Especially if his other little girl was (one?) of the reasons he was stripped of his titles in the first place. And/or he might need to make restitution for anything else.

I don't think there's any future for the Romanian Monarchy properly restored or just semi official without him but I don't think it's going to be easy to sort out. Nicholas has always presented himself as Prince Nicholas (ex the Asociatia Principele Nicolae) inspite of everything which isn't necessarily making things better either.

Nicolae was yesterday interviewed at Marius Tucă Show.
He said that is clear that his grandfather has remained in the souls of Romanians, he will never forget the moment from the balcony. He and his grandfather were a grandparent and grandson, there were times when he was a King. To Nicolae he was and is a saint.
Next month, the platform of a project dealt with by Prince Nicolae will be launched, which will help us rediscover Romania, the country's villages. "I try to do what Prince Charles did, to promote the beautiful places in Romania.", said Nicolae.
Nicolae said also that the time now with the pandemic is probably the same as for many people, he and Alina-Maria have spent more time together and they really appreciate this time, they never had this before and neither has Alina-Maria had with her family. There were beautiful moments, quality time together. Nicolae has stayed with Alina-Maria's family. Before they got married, others said that they got along very well. Nicolae said he is lucky to have found this family, they're wonderful.

This little bundle of joy should be born soon? He or she is the future of Romania. I don't think that King Mihai was that cruel and took the Title of Prince of Romania away from Nicholas. He sure must have been a thorn in some ones eye. I think this is more than sad.

This little bundle of joy should be born soon? He or she is the future of Romania. I don't think that King Mihai was that cruel and took the Title of Prince of Romania away from Nicholas. He sure must have been a thorn in some ones eye. I think this is more than sad.

Former King Michael was a man without scrupules. He not only took away the membership of the Royal House and the royal titles from his daughter Irina. In one go her - total innocent- children, his grandchildren, were eliminated as successors to the throne.

Earlier he desavoued his daughter Princess Sofia and her daughter, his granddaughter Élisabeth, from the royal family, later to take them back in grace and favour in the Royal House, after she had divorced from Alain Biarneix.

Out of nothing former King Michael created his Swiss-born British grandson a Prince of Romania to be included in his proposed line of succession. And out of nothing he removed him again. You don't think he was that cruel? See Irina de Roumanie, see Michael de Roumanie Kreuger, see Angelica de Roumanie Kreuger, see Sofia de Roumanie, see Élisabeth de Roumanie Biarneix and see Nicholas de Roumanie Medforth-Mills....

Former King Michael also denied his natural half-brother Carol his rights. In October 1995 a Romanian court ruled that Carol was the legitimate son of King Carol II. His half-brother, Former King Michael, appealed this ruling, but lost the case in an upper court of appeal in 1999. In March 2002, the Supreme Court of Romania ruled that there should be a retrial, and in July 2002 a lower court ruled again in Carol's favour. Michael again appealed, and in January 2003 he again lost the appeal. Michael again appealed in December 2003 thriving his own half-brother totally mad with a battery of lawyers. To prevent him getting his rightful inheritance in Romania (earlier Carol was successful in claiming his share of former Romanian royal properties in France and Portugal).

So where your fairytale assessment of former King Michael comes from is a mystery, as his actions seems to point to a rigid, uncompromising and unscrupulous character.
