Death & Funeral of Her Majesty, Queen Anne of Romania - 01 August 2016

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
It seems the Grand Duke Henri will be represented at the Funeral by Archduchess Marie Astrid.

Very moving indeed,to see the best of this republic in its respect for the late Queen.

Maybe noy all of the politicians are genuine in this. Some could also look for more publicity and to make a good impression to the public

There are always those everywhere..especially from that spectruml..It is called "sailing on the tides".. :ermm:

Republican politicians are probably contrary to the restoration of Monarchy but some havea good dialogue with the members of the King's Family.

Never an Non Reigning Queen has such an Official Funeral Celebrations.
I am impressed who the Protocole is repected. I think this a solid preparation between the Romanian Socialist President and Authorities , the Crown Princess AND specially her husband.
Great Dignity and Self Controle from the Crown Princess who certainly is thinking to her old Father and his Future Funerals at the same Places.

Romania does not have a socialist president.

The majority of the reigning Royal Houses of Europe are not represented by their members at the Funerals. An exception is Belgium with Archduke Prince Lorenz.

Did Queen Anne work for the country of her husband's or she was just happened to be married to him? I wonder because of all that buzz involving state authorities and institutions is quite hard to understand to me. I'm a staunch republican, though interested in all things Royal and I can't imagine why would there be a day of national mourning for the funeral of a wife of a former head of state who wasn;t even married to him in the time he was in office or on the throne.
Anyway, what is the public oppinion about this and about the deceased in general in Romania? Was Anne viewed as "their Queen" by the Romanians or just by a group of traditionalists/monarchists/royal followers?

Even if opinions are quite divided the majority ofvRomanians would always respect a Funeral. Some politician just try to be more visible on this occasion.

Of course, every person's death and funeral (and others' loss) needs respect. But I just think it all should be a private affair in the case of Queen Anne's. Of course, the government should make it easy for the Royal Family to carry out the funeral but it should not involve any of the public institutions or figures, not to mention the public funds.

Officially we do not speak of national Funerals.
Until now there is no notice of Prince Michel of Bourbon-Parme or his children and nephews attendance at the Funeral.

This is a semi-official national funeral, along the lines one would had hoped for, but that most would not had expected, and frankly, the government deserves respect for how they have cooperated with the Royal House on this delicate and emotional issue.

Not even Prince Charles-Emmanuel of Bourbon-Parme will attend?

The Duke of Larma represents his cousin but it's not a member of the Dutch Royal Family.

Prince Michel has not been well for some time.

Prince Lorenz is a member of the Crown Council

I had hoped there would be a better royal turn out and perhaps Queen Sofia and her sister Princess Irene might attend.

It is rather curios the majority of the reigning European Monarchies won't be represented by their members at these Funerals. The absence of King Mihai himself from this sad event could be a reason for this attitude of the reigning Houses?

It's pity that someone from BRF (especially Charles) won't attend. In youth Charles and Anne were very close with Margarita. It's sad that in funeral will attend a few royals. I thought that Princess Benedikte, Princess Christina (from Sweden), King Harald and Queen Sonja, Princess Caroline, Queen Sofia will attend.
Who will represent Bulgaria ? Prince Kyril ? Or someone else ?

Even if Archduke Lorenz is the only official member attending from a reigning family there are still many members of non reining families like The Prince of Prussia and Grand Duchess Maria.

I did not see anybody from the Royal Family of Bulgaria on the List.
