the captions on those photos are quite funny talking about a ring on her finger and then asking someone to tell Chris to get a haircut lol

and IMO to try to look clean once in a while :whistling:

Smoking on the streets doesnt really help warming up to him, he really is sleazy. I wonder if he will do the same thing on the streets of Sweden one day.

Isn´t this the Cartier Trinity Ring? Could be a wonderful sign of love but surely nothing more :whistling:...

I really don't see the connection between smoking and sleazy.

While I don't consider smoking to be attractive...don't you think calling him sleazy is a big leap?

No wonder the man is smoking on the street - the street is about the only place left in the US where you CAN smoke.

Agree with Zonk that the implication that this equals 'sleazy' is decidedly far-fetched.

I find his whole appearance sleazy, not necessarily related to smoking but the fact that he smokes in public only adds to this impression, he even poses with a marlboro pack in his hands at high profile events in black tie outfit (Salzburg) what says a lot to me. Its just a no-no unless you are a rockstar without any manners or a highflyer thinking of himself as incredibly cool (what he is most likely told by his US pals every day because of dating a princess).

Well, if that works for you I guess.

I personally operate under the idea that unless I have a bit more information on a person, I shouldn't judge them (especially people I only know via media photos).

Also, unless you personally know his friends or have an idea of the crowd he runs with...I am not so sure I would make an assumption of what they think. I guess the same could be said for the friends of anyone who dates a royal regardless of their nationality.

pretty women with very nice sense of fashion ,

Wow....it must be a slow news day.

Its all about the credibility of Madeline and/or Chris, when someone else is dating who posed nude? THose people shall remain nameless, as we all know who they are and I am really not trying to throw the thread off track.

I gather Chris isn't what people had in mind for Madeline, but other than the smoking, the comments about his personality (when I have yet to hear anyone who actually knows him say anything truly offensive about him), ..Chris is the problem?

I think that Expressen means that Madeleine has to stay more in Sweden and work there, especially when Victoria is on maternity leave. Madeleine (and Carl Philip) aren´t doing much work nowadays, and that is affecting to the credibility of the royal house.

I think Chris is just being used as a synonym for New York; Responsibility/Sweden or Fun/Chris/NY is really what Expressen means.

I do agree that besides CP's choice of partner (which I will also not go into), CP and Madeleine's lack of work ethic is hurting the credibility of the monarchy. Most Swedes IMO would agree with that.

I've noticed that some Swedish tabloids wrote lately articles which criticize Madeleine (and Chris) and try to to show Sofia in a good light. CP's girlfriend has good PR specialists. Interesting that press are not writing about unfinished school by CP and his lack of activity :whistling:.
For me Maddie's departure to NY after the breakup with Jonas was kind of escape from all this bad things. Now she working more (in Sweden, but also around the world with foundation) and maybe feel good enough to back home.. but it would be mean to leave Chris. I wouldn't be in her skin and have to make a choice.

I was 'killed' few days ago Svensk Damtidning wrote "Madeleine and Chris's dramatic choice". What is the case - this dramatic choice means quick/or not to quick the smoking.

I guess that Madeleine will show Chris Sweden and they come together back to Sweden.

slow news day.. why is this even an issue? this is the 21st century we have things called airplanes and skype . and it seems Chris has the financial wherewithal to fly to Sweden probably multiple times a month if need be.

the dude has a town house in NYC .. those are not cheap the guy has some serious bank .if Madeline goes back to sweden to pick up the slack when victoria is on maternity leave. i don't see why she would have to choose Chris or Sweden. its silly the relationship might not last because of the distance.
but i think its laughable she would have to choose

I guess, sooner or later she may have to choose..... not for an interim time when Victoria is on maternity leave, this really could be done with some flights and skype.

But the "big final decision" will need to be made one day:
either: stay in Sweden and continue doing the work of a Princess
or: remaining in New York/marrying Chris.

I am not sure, whether this is possible to combine both:
If Chris is am important New York Investment Banker, with large appartment in the Upper East Side, then only a Managing position in a leading Swedish Bank may convince him to "follow her" and go to Sweden.

But maybe that could be arranged....

Anyone knows name of the company that Chris O'Neill work for in NYC?

I don't understand why she has to choose. I like that she's working for Childhood in NY. It's not like she's next in line for the throne. But it would be nice for her to show up at events like the Nobel Ceremony.

I dont think that the Swedes will continue to tolerate CG allocating taxpayers money to Madeleine while not working for the Swedish cause in Sweden.

She is free to live and work in NY, possibly supported by her wealthy family, as Ms Bernadotte.

The fact that she doesnt show up at the Nobels, one of the key events for the SRF, speaks volumes to me.

She was born into her title, I don't see why she should have to give it up to live and work in NY. She's not the heir. She can live in New York and visit Sweden.

I do think it's fair that she shouldn't receive any public income if she's not working for the family, but I see no reason why she'd have to call herself "Ms. Bernadotte" instead of using her title.

The point is that she receives taxpayers money via her father but doesnt contribute anything or only very little towards the service for her country.

I dont think the Swedes will be be happy about this in the long run, but this is only one issue that adds to a long list of other unfortunate issues regarding the institution (CG controversy, CP is the same position as Madeleine, working only very little but receiving taxpayers money via his father, questionable spouse etc).

:previous: Being a royal is a responsibility. There are "lesser" families that would make their child give up their name if they didn't live up to what is expected of them, and both Madeleine and CP, IMO, don't live up to their name: of Sweden. That means furthering the Swedish cause both in and out of Sweden. They can be Bernadottes and live as they currently do.

The way I, and my Swedish friends, perceive Madeleine and CP is that they feel burdened by their titles. Their lives would be soooo much easier without being HRHs. Solution: give up the titles.

MYROYALS

Svensk Damtidning wrote a couple of months ago, that both Madeleine and Chris had started a healthier life and stopped smoking. It seems that that wasn´t true, at least not for Madeleine.
