Most of the young women marrying into the current Royal families today do not fit the "princess wife" criteria of even a generation ago and would have been rejected outright.

There is no such thing anymore as princess criteria...quite literally...anything goes.

Well,if we look back in history there have been quite a few royals (by blood or by marriage) who would not be considered "royal" or "princess material" by TRF standards
The difference is that today´s royals have only a representative function and do not make laws. That´s why we can accept a few "royal misfits" without having to worry about the country they represent.
Nevertheless I find it strange that we only comment on royal ladies (or women who are about to marry into a RF).
We should also be taking a look at the male section of nobility who do not always behave like the kind of fairytale-Prince and gentlemen that we see in the movies.

Some of the current royals who would be able to win a medal in the category "royal misfit,male" could be.....

....King Juan Carlos of Spain (we all know why!)
Albert from Monaco (two children out of wedlock - but thanks god,no tattoos!)
Prince Philipp from UK (his gaffes are legendary,funny.... and absolutely politically incorrect!) or his grandson
Prince Harry (excessive partying & drinking,wearing a Nazi-uniform,Las Vegas...)
...that´s just the first people who came to my mind - they are all royal by blood and do not live according to our TRF-standards of class and dignity

Nevertheless I am always worried whenever someone I do not find particularly classy and noble marries into a royal family because if they behave like average celebrities,they are going to lose the respect of the people and more and more citizens are going to question the concept of monarchy.

Unfortunately it´s true,there are a few individuals who do not behave very classy and dignified but there are also many women & men (royal or not royal) who have sound moral values & a healthy lifestyle-they just do not make so many headlines! Queen Silvia from Sweden is a very intelligent,compassionate woman who does a lot of charitable work and royal duties-nevertheless we mostly read about the escapades of the King,P. Carl-Philip and Sofia

.... and I think exactly to opposite. Looking at the pics from yesterdays wedding of his cousin, they looked very in-love and are also showing this to everyone.
So I am expecting an announcement during autumn, we´ll see, who is right in the end .

What really impresses me, is her Dress yesterday. What does not impress me at all, is the backview of the Dress. Her Tattoo is clearly visible and ruins the entire look.... , what a shame.

I have no Problem with a Tattoo. But I have problems with a Tattoo, which is SO visible, that it ruins the look of a beautiful Gala Dress.

By any chance, were there pictures of Sofia with her natural hair color? Is black her natural hair color? I'm just wondering how she looks like with a lighter shade (that is if she has lighter hair color). I find her current hair color too strong for her.

I find her very nice at the wedding. The tattoos were a bit of a shock when she turns around but I wouldn't think that it makes her trashy. She did seem to carry herself very well.

I am no fan of Sofia but I thought that the dress was very pretty. When looking closer, I dont like the shoes or the fur jacket or the fact that the tattoo showed on her back but the front view is very nice.

I'm not Sofias biggest fan either, but I think that she's going to be a member of the royal family very soon. I don't think she'll be princess. Jonas Bergström wasn't supposed to be prince when he was engaged to Madeleine, his future title was supposedly Duke of Gästrikland and Hälsingland. Sofia could become Duchess of Värmland, to match Carl Philips ducal title.

I agree that an engagment announcement will likely come this fall. My guess is that they will likely have a more low key wedding, probably in Öland. Time will tell if I'm right

I wish Sofia would learn sometime, that she doesn't have to push herself to every photo, she is photographed all the time anyway. She has been three years with Carl Philip and is still as hungry for the camera as in the beginning.

Sofia likes her picture being taken and there's nothing wrong with that. Some of the pictures though looks like she wants to be the center of attention.

At every Royal event Sofia has attended beginning with Estelle's christening this young woman seems to make a point of finding the camera and making eye contact with it. She is the only one who does this...it's unnerving and annoying to look at.

It also makes sense, given her stated desire for fame.

I just cannot take her seriously as a Royal princess. If/when she marries C-P, I will simply choose to ignore their existence in the SRF.

If you look the photos from the wedding at the photo agencies, there is twice or three times more photos of Sofia than anyone else. At Madeleine's wedding she was photographed very much too. I'm sure she knows that she gets into a lot of photos, she could act normal and not seek at the cameras constantly.

The media is very interested in Sofia no matter if she's looking towards the camera or not. They know it's possible that she could be a the next bride. Many of the other royals also look at the camera.
