I might be wrong but I see CP as the spitting image of his father. Its pure speculation but who knows what went on behind the scenes during his long term relationship with Emma that was labelled "alibi" for different reasons many times :whistling:
Well, he seems to like tacky women but getting married to one of them? Why? She is a celebrity girl and in the eyes of many will never be good enough, lacking the ability to prove herself due to he very limited role of CP.

Times have obviously changed, CP doesnt have to hide his affairs as a single man and being quite unimportant to the crown, he doesnt have to marry a women like his mother who would take the institution one step further. He doesnt have to marry at all and can date tacky women and drive fast cars until the end of his life, if he wishes - unless his sister will be unable to conceive, what would be a nightmare scenario but these things happen, same as to ordinary people. Then I predict Sweden will be on top of the list of monarchies being abolished.

I pity Emma who dated him nearly 10 years and hoped to became one day his wife, this wouldn't be easily forgotten by poor woman

So basically you are calling Emma tacky... :ermm:

No I am not. I was referring to Sofia.

I compared CP to his father, who obviously has been attracted to tacky women while being married to Silvia. There have always been rumours about CP's relationship to Emma and that she was, similar to Silvia, the public partner while other things were going on behind the scenes. Who knows.

It sounds (although it's true) "unreal" that women who could have been only royal lovers some 100 years ago,now could become their wives...

it also sounds " unreal " that Sonja was objectionable and had to wait all these years to get approval and that even in the 80's the relatives of Grand Duke Henri were extremely annoyed that he married Maria Teresa - and they often showed that annoyance to her in an insulting way. It seeems so |narrow minded" that theses women were not consider good enough at first but were "tolerated" after all.... although today most royal parents would probably pray on their knees for God to send them a Sonja Haraldsen or a Maria Teresa Mestre :whistling:

Agreed, snowflower. For all the snobbish, elitist attitudes of the distant and recent past, monarchies had to evolve beyond only marrying other royalty (just as it had to evolve beyond men being the preferred choice of monarch). And marrying outside royal circles is NOT what has caused the evolution of monarchies any more than it has put monarchies in jeopardy.

The commoners - male and female - who have married into the royal families just happen to be the ones that have been attractive to their respective spouses, for whatever reasons. Some might look at the available picks from within the royal community and think that the candidates are not physically attractive. Or they might think that those candidates are beautiful...but quite dull. Or maybe even a shift in thinking has occurred within the royal community that opens up the idea that it is possible to find all of the qualities necessary for a princess or future queen in a woman who is kind, well-mannered, possibly educated, well-dressed and tactful - even if her birthright or station in life does not include a title other than Miss, Ms., or Mrs.

And, while sometimes missing the mark throughout the years, Sonja, Michiko, & Silvia have proven to be as elegant, regal, and queenly as Sofia, Beatrix, Paola, and Margrethe. Maria-Teresa seems to have missed the mark more often but never with anything that would be a deal breaker IMHO. And while I am not a big fan of Mabel (whom I criticize fairly often) or Mary (whom seems to want to LOOK like a princess rather than BE like a princess), the worst of their behavior is still better than some other princes and princesses of royal blood (including their own husbands sometimes).

All that being said, for all her (alleged) good qualities, Sofia does not seem like a candidate any parent would want on a list of prospective daughters-in-law (expect possibly for any of those trashy wastes of bandwith on any of the "Real Housewives of...." programs).

On December 06, Sofia Hellqvist celebrated 26 years old:

Svenskdam

The character of the person is very important. I've known people that came from very humble background and people that came from affluent backgrounds. Some of these people were nice, some were not. This of course would be true of any group of people. There are royals who are very nice, kind, down to earth, interested in their subjects and live by the golden rule. Then there are other royals who aren't so nice, who are snobby or who look down on others who are not in the same social standing as they are. Just like everyone else, mixed bag of people.

You are who you are. People can see through something that's put on or if it's put for display. It always has a way of coming out it seems. If something isn't genine or made out to be something it really isn't, it starts showing cracks.

Latest rumors from German Celebrity Magazine "Bunte":

"Thick air behind the palace walls":

Madeleine "flew" back to New York, not only because her father forced her to split with Jonas (has been deicussed on the Madeleine Thread alread), but also because she had a argument with Carl Philip: After source Se og Hör Madeleine wanted to celebrate the inaguration of the new home with her sister..... but she refused to meet Sofia. Carl Philipp was angry and accused her of not greeting Sofia and not even looking at her. According to the source CP and also Sofia were very offended by her behaviour -- and so Madeleine took an earlier flight back to the US:

Urm... how would Bunte know that Carl-Philip and Madelaine had a fight. It isn't very likely that any of them called the German magazine. Neither is it likely that anybody will tell the magazine that it was CG who forced break between Jonas and Madelaine. So IMHO these scoops have less value than the paper that it is printed on.

^maybe one of the palace "lower" officials let it slip? things do get out, although i'm not certain about this piece of news, they wouldn't fight in front of servants. CP seems really, realllllyyy protective of Sophia, i suppose she is "the one":)
is this German magazine remotely reliable? arent they the ones who printed about Jonas' affair?

No, it's not. It's gossip magazine. The sources for article are Expressen (yellow paper) and Se og Hor (not even worth the paper it's written on).

:previous: Are these pics old or new????
I suppose they are old, as some of these pics are going to a similar direction, as the snake pic..... and are exactly the wrong ones for a girl, who want to become Princess.....

Yet another collection of photographs which the Sofia-haters will jump on to show why she isn't "princess material" and the Sofia-lovers will claim is an indiscretion of her youth for which she should no longer be held accountable because she has grown and is a different person.

Are they disturbing? If you don't have an issue with the potential 3rd lady of the land posing in such a manner, no. The picture kneeling on the beach with the legs spread and her hands tied behind her back (like bondage?) is pushing the limits quite a bit. Are they offensive? Other than the beach bondage pic, I am personally more offended by the AWFUL dye job and trashy looking hair. IMHO she does currently look much better with what I assume is her natural (or close to it) dark hair.

My issue with these pics, however, goes back to her judgement as a person...not as a potential princess. Much has been made of her need for a major dental overhaul. As a "model" she would have been told this and would be aware of it. Evidence of her awareness is provided by these pictures. The only smile she has with her teeth showing is the very first one, which is taken from far away. Every other smile is a closed-mouth. For someone who wants to be famous (as she has stated), and has called herself a model, I don't believe she posed for these pictures (or the ones where she is wearing the camouflage bikini with her legs spread apart...or the one with the flower bikini, again with her legs spread apart - she seems to really like this pose...or the topless one with the snake, yet again with her legs spread apart) for free. I question her judgement as a person because she obviously did not invest her modeling paycheck into the aforementioned dental work, although she is clearly aware that is needed.

This is yet another example of poor judgement on Sofia's part - from choosing to pose for the pictures, choosing to publicly state her desire to be famous, choosing to participate in a reality program whose sole purpose is to titillate, choosing to make out with perhaps the most famous porn star and brag about it publicly, choosing to publicly "tweet" about her relationship with royalty, and who knows how many others.

That's just too many poor choices, and I'm sorry to all the Sofia-lovers...she might be a really nice girl, but lots of former strippers, prostitutes, centerfold models, and slutty women can be very nice, polite, kind-hearted, etc. Most men in the world will use them and discard them when they are ready to settle down (something I hope CP does soon). And the overwhelming majority of parents would discourage their child from having a relationship with such a person.

Honestly, I like those pictures. Those aren't bad ones or ones shouting "scandal" all over. Only the "bondage"-pic and the last two are pushing the limits a little, but since I think she made them years ago when there was no prince in sight I don't see why she shouldn't have taken them, when she was okay with them.

I've always been Sofia-lover and as long as there won't be new pics like those aforementioned three, I'm okay with her. If Carl-Philip really loves her and she loves him (and seriously, who are we to judge something we don't know the personal basics about) they should go for each other.

The problem people can have with them is that she was 15 or 16 when they were taken. I think that's a bit too early for pictures with such a sexual undertone and it speaks volumes about her and her parents judgement.

Yes,from these pictures the people could conclude amny unpleasant facts about her

That's why I wrote they were pushing the limits. And how do you know how old she was back than? The site had only photos, no text. Did that stand anywhere else? How reliable are those sources?

Exactly! If Sofia is 15 or 16 indeed I find some of these pictures really disturbing, although not pornographic its material that has the erotic level of Playboy or Penthouse. What kind of parents does she have, dont they care how their underage daughter is presenting herself :yuk: It would be a different matter if Sofia had already passed her 18th birthday but happily doing such pictures as a teenager speak volumes about somebodys personality.

Maybe CP is rebelling against his parents, after what came to light about his father he doesnt want to hide his tacky girlfriend any longer. I dont see any princess material but that sounds familiar thinking of Mette-Marit. However, I dont think Sweden has the same level of tolerance as Norway, especially after finding out that their King is attracted to the red-light milieu they wouldnt want to put up with a girl like Sofia who could even become their Queen one day if things go really wrong.

Come on! I don´t like her very much, but to blame her is too silly.
If he is lazy it´s his fault.

I know. He isn't under the pressure to finish the school. His future is written. I am now in last year at university too and I am a little bit lazy, but I know I have to finish my studies and I am going for it.

Exactly!:king3:

:swedenflag2: Du gamla, du fria!

Given the recent revelations surrounding the King's dalliances in the past, and the press reports about CPs relationship with so,ebody with a past, I can't help be drawn to the Prince Bertil who spent most of his life not being married to Lillian, so as not to in any way harm the Swedish monarchy. The only hope seem to be Victoria and Daniel, who appear (so far) to kept their noses clean. Somebody ought to talk sense into CP, since he clearly does not seem to be able to make the right judgement call himself.

Regarding Sofia's choices and her age, several people have suggested that the questionable things she has done are in her past (which was not that long ago) and that she should be excused for the "mistakes" she made in her youth.

After considering the over-sexualization of young people and the steadily advancing maturity (although I would call it a lack thereof) in teenagers since the 1970s, I don't believe there are young people over the age of maybe 11 or 12 who wouldn't know that these are probably the wrong choices if they wish to be respected and taken seriously.

Looking at everything we know about Sofia (which I admit is probably less than 10% of who she is), I still can't give her a pass on her past. I can see hastily jumping into an ill-advised marriage (like Letizia) as a mistake. I suppose I would also see experimentation with drugs, sex, and having a child out of wedlock (like Mette-Marit) a mistake. These are things that maybe not the majority but a vast number of people around the world have done in their lives - whether they consider them a mistake or not.

Sofia's choices were made after she became old enough to know better and aren't the choices that most people around the world have made in their lives.

I wouldn't call her choices a mistake. I would call them a flaw in her character and something that can't be fixed with a few photo ops doing charity work. Even that speaks to her character - "look at ME", "look at the work I'M doing", "see how professional/appropriate/acceptable I can be".

If she wants to earn respect she should have made respectable choices before. If she and CP really love each other and want to be respected, then she needs to stop doing charity work, stop appearing as a spokesperson for any charity, stop modeling, and live a very quiet life not in public for the next thirty years - like Bertil and Lilian. Then maybe she will be forgiven for the choices she made recently and will be accepted as a wife for CP.
