You are not alone.....!!
If refinement, modesty, and elegance...all while appearing appropriately clothed...are now considered "old fashioned" then send me back to the Middle Ages, PRONTO.
What a world. God help us all.

In all frankness, I agree; I am so TIRED of seeing this all the stupid time and I am tired of seeing tarts get all the good guys.

Sweden needs a lot of things, but a 'young' (btw, she's 4 years off 30) 'beautiful', (she's pretty i'll give you that) and 'intelligent' (I don't know if she is) future princess, probably isn't one of them right now. Sofia if she were to become a Princess, needs more than her looks to get her through. Because boy will they fade. Oh and a quick pointer, Carl - Philip is spelt with a P not an F.
|
These days, commoners who become princesses should have more to offer than just looks and supposed brains and youth. In order to prove they are good enough (and don't get started on the politically correct argument of royals misbehaving) they should have much more than potential to offer, they should have something concrete. If she wants to stand on the world stage as a princess, she has to be credible and be as respected as possible, not married and THEN sit next to an official, looking gussied up, but coming off as totally cheap and brainless. That is the last thing Sweden needs. I don't think Sofia is pursuing Carl to live a retiring life on a farm in the middle of the countryside with a bunch of sheep and cows and horses.
Quote:
Otherwise we just continue along in the downward spiral that has society degenerating into a lazy group that has zero standards of dignity. Having morals (doesn't mean you are a prude), standards (doesn't mean you are stuck-up), a direction in life (doesn't mean you are a stick in the mud), and some level of self-respect DOES make a person's life admirable and valuable. But having those things is much more difficult in practice.
|
This world has been just about to hit rock bottom and if women like this keep marrying into the royal families, at what point are the royal families really worth keeping? Presidents are a lot more selective in who they will marry, because they have an eye on representing the nation they asppire to run. Royalty should do the same, all the more, since this is a 'for life' issue.
Quote:
All is required is Carl Philip to like her and pop the question.
|
It doesn't mean seh will make a good wife and mother; Carl is being a fool if he thinks that a woman wiht her behavior will be a stable, healthy influence.
Quote:
And I am sure that she will beome popular enough as long as the press will print these sugar coated interviews in magazines/newspapers and keep writing about her as Sweden's new mother Teresa, as seems to be the case now.
|
Amazing how a prince can whitewash your entire past and reputation, isn't it? A wave of the social wand and all is clean.
Quote:
i dont hate Sofia, she is actually pretty and has a nice name. but her behavior and past sins are not forgetable ones, i know people deserve second chances, but in her case where she will be eventually a princess, the media will hunt her for the rest of her life!
|
It's not like it was a phase in her life and it's not like she has been past that for some years and has had a respectable career for some time. She's still partying, still posing, and is only now interested in charity. Are there no women with an interest in a stable career out there that might attract a prince?
Quote:
Carl Philip could easily find a modern, beautiful and intelligent woman to be her princess. A woman, who hasn´t shown everything to the whole world in very questionable photos. A dignified, discreet and respectable woman. As for Sofia, I don´t think she has qualifies for that.
|
You're right about that. There are hundreds of such princesses out there, thousands of commoner women out there as well. It's not impossible and no nice woman is going to enter into some love competition for Carl's affections and attention and provide drama for tabloid fodder. I am sure that if Carl were a commoner, he would have some fun with Sofia and then walk away. Commoner men are actually a lot more picky about who they will marry and who will be the mother of his children.

I've seen royals in pornclubs, in nude, drunk, using drugs etc.

Yes, and then they grew out of it and settled down. Has Sofia yet?

Carl Philip can choose whoever the heck he wants to be with! Just because Sofia isnt your cup of tea doesn't change the fact that you aren't Carl Philip's mother nor do you have a say over who he falls in love with.

A little skin is nothing. Worse with them using drugs. She is trained with media and that´s good.

How do you know she didn't do drugs before?
where did you meet sofia and in what capacity?

Why are you being so confrontational in text? People are discussing the press reports that come out about these two, and giving their opinions on the matter-

A while ago I 've begun to think that you've met Sofia in the real life, judging from your comments aboout her.I appreciate that you've seen her good qualities, maybe your impressions are genuine, but for me,they are naturally subjective,as I've never met her.But it could be that you've praised her a little much more ,as you're male,so your point of view could be different here.As for me,Sofia is beautiful and clever enough to get a prince(they may share the same views etc.),but she never looked intelligent or intellectual to me,the things she did before do not demonstrate this and her achievements are quite poor.
I see in her just a nice woman and a woman who is loved by the prince(hope she loves him as well and will never betray as Jonas did to princess Madeleine).I think she has no strategic importance to Sweden,as she is not going to be Crown-Princess,many Swedes are rather tolerant or indifferent towards these matters with past etc.
She is lucky to be the girlfriend of the Prince of Sweden, and not of that of Britain,as I couldn't imagine what the press would do if she had been Prince Harry's girlfriend, just for example.

Finnish Iltalehti quotes Expressen: Madeleine´s friends are sending one of those questionable photos of Sofia (which have been. e.g. at a spanish site and tried to be removed from the internet) to eachother by phone.
It is not clear, if the photo is real and original. A friend of Sofia, Tony Kollberg says that it looks like a collage of photos.
The timing of this fuss is the worst possible for Sofia, she has been getting her relationship with Silvia warming, started to work at charity projects and changed her look to stylish and discreet. According to Expressen Silvia has started to think that Sofia is the one and only for her son, although it is quite difficult for her to accept Sofia´s past as a reality-tv-star and glamour model. Sofia worries how this fuss affects to her relationship with the royal family.

SvenskDam tells that Sofia has had a stylist for a couple of weeks. She is 23-year-old Camilla Åstrand, who has a Bachelor's degree at Fashion Marketing and Communication from the Instituto Europeo di Design i Barcelona. She is working as a Head of Digital & PR Consultant at the Rossana Mariano PR ab.
Camilla says she will help Sofia with styling in all contexts where she wants her help. It may be for occasions where she will be seen extra much or when she just wants fashion advice.

Actions speak a lot lower than words. A person is well dressed and well-mannered and who looks good on paper or doesn't have scandals may have the personality of a rat or be deceptive about who they are. Someone who maybe isn't so perfect on paper or perception may have better manners than someone whose supposedly clean as a whistle.
It's important for someone whose marrying into royalty to be well dressed, well mannered and not be putting on an act or pretending to be someone they aren't. At some point this comes out as you can't hid this forever. Sometimes it not always easy to tell because some people are very good at fooling people. Time always tell though, one way or another.

Maybe, maybe not. It appears to be a pic of Sofia with a woman with a baby. I stood by a Harley-Davidson the other day, but that doesn't mean I want one.

Stop playing!
You know you want a Harley Davidson.
Still on the fence with Sofia. I do agree with the concept that the PR machine is working on her behalf. I don't remember this meet and greet stuff, and pick up a charity with Daniel. But different circumstances I guess.

Daniel, Jonas and Emma were all very occupied with their jobs. And the court didn´t comment their lives at all, like it´s done with Sofia many times now already.

Daniel was properly "checked"-they searched for anything they could find-unpaid bills, scandals, alcohol excesses or drug use but they could not find anything negative about him!Stop comparing Sofia to Daniel,Mette-Marit or other commoners who married into RF! They had different backgrounds, careers and lives before they married and they are very nice & respectable and proved to be good for their partners (except for Jonas)....
We have discussed Sofia a lot-she is a beautiful young woman and now she´s getting support to polish up her public image.I like the changes she has made so far-her new style, attending charity events etc. are a good way to show that she is serious about this relationship and she wants to be of help...it will not make her old life vanish (her desperate wish to be in the spotlight) but I believe that she deserves a chance to prove that she can do more than just posing for pictures.

I am also on the fence about Sofia. Certainly she will never be able to erase the past. A lot depends on the next year with Victoria and Daniel and the new baby. Having a healthy heir to the throne relieves much of the burden on Carl Philip and frees up his choices to include someone with a past that was....very well documented, shall we say.
At some point, though, marrying not just commoners but those with a "common" past doesn't preserve a monarchy or royalty; it detracts from it. Standards can relax without being pitched overboard completely. I'll be curious as to how Sofia comports herself point-forward.
I think it was premature for the blogger to openly say "the next princess" (rough translation.) I think the couple has a ways to go before that hurdle is cleared.

Any chance that Emma P comes back on the scene? I really liked her.
