Yes Jigsaw is a clothing company but it is not owned by friends of Kate's family. Do you hold everyone who dates for eight years before getting married in low regard or is it just Kate?

Sofia is Sofia. Whatever choices she has made in the past are not going to go away if they get engaged but it doesn't mean that she can't move on from them. Many people have pasts that might raise a few eyebrows but that doesn't stop them making new lives for themselves and accomplishing wonderful things. People just need to wait and see what will happen with them.

I think that the grand plan as far as the Swedish Royal Family is for Victoria to have a few kids so Carl Philip and Madeline move down the line of succession and eventually drop off the royal radar.

However there is one problem with this. Until Victoria's child reaches the age of majority there remains the possibility that Carl Philip will have to serve as Regent...This means that a Princess Sophia could be in the lime-light for a long time.

As a Princess what would she do? Patronize the cause of strippers, porn stars and reality show wannabees?

I get goosebumps by thinking of "Princess" Sofia.

The public role of prince Carl Philip is rather small (compared to that of his elder sister), and soon prince Daniel will 'need' some causes. So in that light I think that the amount of duties and causes of ANY wife of prince Carl-Philip will be limited.

The prince is not engaged yet, he has only been dating for a couple of months, so a marriage at this stage is most likely out of the question.

Well, in defence of Sofia i got to say that if Norway could stand Mette-Marit that had A) a child already, B) trouble with her parents and C) spent her free time in questionable situations involving drugs then Sofia isnt all to bad if the only thing against her are photos of her nude.

Well, you are right. Mette-Marit was everything but not the perfect Crown Princess in the beginning. And look, how she evolved since, she is a perfect addition to the royal family and a truely regal future queen. Similar to Letizia, a divorced woman -- and now a perfect CP of Asturias.

And: Sweden may be more open and relaxed if it comes to their RF, than i.e. Spain. CP Felipe had to split with his former girlfriend, as she was a dessous model. And she showed less skin than Sofia.

Nothing wrong with dating someone for 8 years before getting married, for example Victoria & Daniel did the same thing. The difference is that Daniel was not sitting on his butt waiting till Vickan says yes to him and he can put a ring on her finger.

I like your thinking. However A) & B) are really not such a big issue these days and her wild young days can be responsible for C), but then again the same can apply for Sofia's pics. Okay, you won, but I'm still hoping that someone knocks some sense into Carl Philip and he breaks up with her.

Seeing things as i see, he most likely will end up marrying her.
We've seen MM past, Letizia's past, Kate's modelling pics, etc etc...as we say in spanish, Que le hace una mancha más al tigre? (what does a spot more to the tiger?)

No Amelia I do not hold everyone who dates for 8 years before getting married in low regard, but I do hold those in low regard who do nothing but WAIT AROUND for a proposal while bidding time away working for family/ friends.
And yes they are family friends of Kate and even gave the prince and kate their home on the Island of Mystique (not sure about the place) for free when the prince complained that the rent was too high for him to pay. So according to newspaper reports, YES they are family friends of Kate.

Do Daniel can not be Regent?

Also I personally feel CP will date her for awhile until he feels both she and Sweden are agreeable to them marrying.

I still can't understand that working for your parents company is disregarded as "sitting on your butt" and "bidding time away"?!?!?! Have you ever worked as daughter/son of the owner in a medium to small size company? There is no way you could hide if you wouldn't work.

^ i said that because she had more time off than a normal job, such as when the prince would call her, she would go. she even asked for three day work weeks when looking for jobs, explaining that she needed to be with William when he came. She didnt get a job anywhere except at Jigsaw, where she initially worked 4 days, then moved down to three, and then at her parents, where it hasn't been said how much she worked, but i INFER it cant be much since she needed time off to be with William, as she had stated when looking for job earlier. So this is what I call "bidding time away".

Many people who work in a family business work very hard. With a family business it is 24/7. You don't get much down time.

I think the main difference between the princesses you mention and the present grlfriend of Carl-Philip, seems that this girl was aiming for a life in the limelight before she met the prince. Mette-Marit and Letizia were both not looking for publicity (even though Letizia worked for television) and even now they don't seem to fond of it, unless it is during their public engagements. So considering that one of Sofia' goals in life before she met the prince was to become a famous person, it makes her motives for being in this relationship somewhat more questionable to many.

But in the end it is all just wild guessing of course. None of us know her so maybe she is a very nice woman.

Many, many people choose to work in their family businesses. There is nothing wrong with it, it is a good honest way to make a living and it is a shame that it is used as a way to put someone down. The Robinsons are not family friends of Kate, Belle Robinson, the owner of Jigsaw, stated this in an interview. They lent their house to William through a mutual friend that they had with William not Kate. He didn't pay them for the house but he did make a donation to a local charity instead - the interview about all this is somewhere in old Kate/William threads.

So you KNOW for a FACT that she did nothing but sit around waiting for Prince William to propose??? Because I don't care how much YOU think something that doesn't make it a truth. It may be your opinion but it certainly isn't a fact where I come from.

As for Sofia, is the Swedish public really going to say "we don't accept her as our princess?" I think they'll be happy with whomever the prince chooses. I've never heard of a public going against the chosen partner of a member of the royal family. Has there ever been such a case?

Well, there were many, which were not well accepted, i.e. they were not beloved by the people...... Latest example in Sweden is Carl Gustafs Mother, Princess Sybilla -- she was German (extremly bad after the war) and her husband died early, so it was hard for her and the Swedes did not like her very much.
Other examples are i.e. in Belgium, after the beloved Queen Astrid (mother of Boudouin and Albert) the second wife Lilan was not very much accepted.

And the most well known example of REALLY NOT ACCEPTING the wife of a reigning monarch was of course the Duke of Windsor and Wallis Simpson. As the government did not want to accept a divorced woman the King had to decide between crown and love -- and he decided for love and had to give up the throne.

BTW: This was only to answer CD_1´s question, so please do not start an extra off-topic thread to discuss my answer .....

Bye Bine
