It´s not fair that the crown princes must choose a royal woman, just because some people can´t accept commoners as their wives.
Maybe they couldn´t find a woman who is perfect for them and is a member of a royal house. Should they marry anyone and have a bad marriage?

I accept commoners as Crown Princes' wives only in two cases
Marie-Chantal of Greece, because she's an aristocrat, with education and royal manners
And Clotilde of Savoy, because she's regal and an actress like Grace Kelly Italy could become the new Monaco as a Kingdom

I am sorry, but surely you must realize that Marie-Chantal Miller was NO aristocrat....she is the daughter of a nouveau riche American billionaire and a Peruvian woman who is rumored to have worked as a manicurist when she was young. Marie-Chantal has a great education and has conducted herself flawlessly since her marriage to Prince Pavlos...and I am sure she would be delighted to know that you think she is a born aristocrat.

But she is NOT.

As for Clothilde Courau...she seems to be a warm, attractive woman but the only thing she has in common with Grace Kelly is that she is an actress who married a prince.

Somehow I could never picture Grace Kelly heavily pregnant at the altar on her wedding day, as was Clothilde!

2- Isn't this too much?? I don't understand people that accept CP dating Sofia but implying she's better that the delightful Mathilde of Belgium seems really crazy to me! So what?? Should Mathilde pose naked with a snake to be less boring?? Thankfully it's not true people find her boring, actually everybody likes her: a recent survey proclamed her the most popular member of the Royal Family.
I like her too.
And I am no fan of Sofia.
But what I wanted to say is that these days with the press and certain problems being noble or Royal born is no guarantee.
However Belgium is in a special position and most criticism came from the flemish side and many would probably criticise every princess, who has french as main language.

I´d love to see the ultimate dream match happening: Madeleine and William. Because then people would see, that marrying a Royal is these days only an short-time advantage.

Marrying your second cousin every now and then is no problem, but that Anne83 is obviously a hardliner.

However her selection (vulgar Bea, the daughter of parasite Tino, the tacky we-marry-only-rich-like-Momma Miller sisters, and a woman, who is an actress like Grace, who surely was beautiful and poised, but who was in her later years deeply unhappy with her limited life) shows, that she has no idea, what a country like Sweden does need.

Some glamour, yes. But also hard-working, honest people, who are deeply in love with the country.

In Sweden and Norway it´s more important to cheer like crazy at cross country skiing events, to pick strawberries at one´s summer residence and to meet people with humour and warmth than to go in Chanel over a red carpet.

If I remember correctly there was a poll done after the wedding where 74% of the people support the monarchy.

Well Anne83, you could manage with the likes of Bill Clinton as your "king". And his taste in women is certainly not better than any of the Crown Princes mentioned....
Monarchy is completely outdated in Europe, and the Houses have to walk a very fine line between being noble and being entertaining, attractive and a possible role model for the people. After all, they have no power. And that their state ist god-given is completely irrelevant in an Europe, where to be religious has a funny odour and is not really popular.
Marie-Chantal is certainly not my idee of a royal, she is a nouveau rich who married a prince, women who wanted to marry old names to go well with the new money of their father. That is the way they are seen in Europe, and certainly the greek would not accept them in their country any longer, living a life of pomp and remotedness of the people on their expense... The Monegasses marry all kind of people, Grace Kelly was at least dignified, but her daughters made some very strange choices. Stephanie used to live in a circus wagon with her boyfriend, a swiss circus director at one stage. And that was an "up" from the guy she was married to before! The Hannoverian has blue blood, but that does not keep him from being a drunk getting into fights all the time, peeing against buildings in public and enjoy love holidays lately with a young woman. Compared to all that, Mette-Marit and Daniel seem wonderful choices.

And can you picture Grace doing a show at the Crazy Horse in Paris? And this even after she married her prince?

What?! The Crazy Horse in Paris???!

I would LOVE to see Princess Madeleine with Prince William, and Carl-Philip with Charlotte Casiraghi(can you think of a more striking would-be couple?? )

But it will never happen....

I am confused. The trashy pictures I have seen are where she she is on a beach with her arm covering her boobs and the other one where she has a snake draped around her breasts but no nipples are visible. Do you mean there are pictures where her breasts are completely uncovered?!

If so, that makes a bad situation worse. I don't think nudity is a bad thing. But tacky pictures are. If you want to be a celebrity or a model nudity might be fine but royals are still expected to behave a certain way.

Clotilde of Savoy is as aristocratic and graceful as Grace Kelly She can bring some glamour in Italy as a future Queen
Marie-Chantal of Greece is a true aristocrat who grew up in luxury and went to the best schools Her parents weren't rich from the beginning They created everything from scratch and became aristocrats This is more important and praiseworthy They have my Respect
King Constantine of Greece isn't a parasite He's a King without a country now But who knows what happens in the future
Everyone can put on their best smile and pretend to be royal and act accordingly or state in every interview that they love their country
That's what people like MM and Letizia do The question is Do they convince anyone?

Anne83, having lots of money and going to good schools is NOT the same as being an aristocrat...it simply means you are wealthy and priviliged.

Many Hollywood people are rich and send their kids to good schools...do you consider THEM aristocratic? Chelsea Clinton has wealthy, powerful parents and received the most elite of educations...is SHE an aristocrat?

The idea that wealth=aristocracy is as American as it is untrue.

An aristocrat is someone who-for better or for worse-can trace a noble family lineage back for centuries. That does NOT describe Marie-Chantal or Clothilde Courau, no matter how lovely their manners are.

They are simply young women who married into Royal families, without having a drop of noble blood themselves.

PS...I don't live in Italy, but I am pretty certain that the Italians-who have hundreds of REAL Italian aristocracy in their midst such as the Borromeo family-do not want a French commoner actress like Clothilde as their Queen...EVER!

Yes, Mette-Marit convices me and a lot of other people in Europe, especially in Norway. Letizia is obivously suffering. Tatiana Patitz and Marie Chantal convince me not, as royals. But then they are not, are they, they are nouveau riche and quite clearly so. It is one thing to sit in the US and have dreams of the glory of monarchy and gilded princesses, and another to actually live in the country, with the people and their realities and be popular there.
As for the good schools, in Ms. Obama outdoes them there. Now SHE has my respect.

Moonmaiden23 you'll be surprised
I live in the U.S.A but I have Russian, German and French royal blood
I'm European and as a monarchist I know what I'm talking about

Lorette, her name is Tatiana Blatnik Not Patitz
You're all so addicted to celebrities and decadent ex-Top Models that you have started confusing them with these noble ladies
Tatiana Blatnik belongs to the German nobility Her grandmother is a German Countess

Uups, yes and sorry Anne, you are right, I got the names wrong. Now the Russian, German, French and Italian royals have in the meantime learned to generate their own income and can therefore marry whom they want, as far as I am concerned. They represent no country and are purely private people like everybody else. Very few people in France or Germany care for who they are and what they do. I am not saying that that improves the world, because clearly the now ruling elite is extremely immoral and greedy. No, I do not talk about the presidents, but about the bankers who really have the say.
I wonder, how much blue blood does a person have to have in them, to be royal? A grandmother is allright? Then the children of Haakon and Mette-Marit as well as those of Viktoria and her Daniel will be more royal than Ms Blatnik, won't they?

They aren't fine for a future Princess, but you must admit that nude pictures can be seen as art. I'm a qualified photographer and therefore I have to say that Sofia's pictures aren't of high artistic level, they indeed just look like tacky soft porn pictures, at least to me.

She may be a nice girl, but I have no clue what CP is thinking...
