King Carl XVI Gustaf & Queen Silvia; Picture Thread 2 (August 2004 - October 2005)

Here is a new thread for pictures of The King and Queen - I thought it could be a good idea to separate news and articles about them from the pictures, otherwise it get too much.

Here are some pictures and info from the awarding of the “Stockholm Water Prize” in the Stockholm City Hall from tonight.

About the Stockholm WaterPrize
The Stockholm Water Prize is a global award under the patronage of HM King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden. The Prize is presented annually to an individual, institution or organisation for outstanding water-related activities. The activities can be within the fields of aid, awareness building and education, engineering, management or science

The 2004 Stockholm Water Prize has been awarded to Professors Sven Erik Jørgensen, Denmark, and William J. Mitsch, USA. Through their pre-eminent contributions to the knowledge of how lakes and wetlands function, Professors Jørgensen and Mitsch have contributed substantially to understanding how to make human use of them more sustainable and how to protect them better in the future.

The pics were made at Solliden in july/august
The text says:
"At the last concert during RUM:s Storbandsvecka, members of the royal family appeared in the audience"

Dont know exactly what RUM is, but I guess its some kind of band who had a couple of concerts at Solliden

RUM stands for "Riksförbundet för unga musikanter", it´s a national group/gathering of young musicians

what kind of musicians, any? Are the King and Queen apart of that group or do they just support it?

Thanks for the pictures, GrandDuchess.
In the pic "HM The king" the king has exactly the same facial expression as Victoria, when she´s interested. The king interested...we don´t see this that often. Maybe he should do more such jobs and more jobs alone (I´ve noticed that he is in high spirits, when he is the center of interest..of course I don´t want to hint, that the king feels better without his family. But I can imagine, that it´s an awkward feeling, when the persons around you (who are officially "behind" you) get more attention ( because of their gorgeous look, or because of their "sunny character") than you.

Like any Swede, place the King in a forest surrounded by his nation´s natural beauty and he is happy. :) But yeah, perhaps you are right about the attention thing as well.

[QUOTE=Dennism]Like any Swede, QUOTE]

Hmm, an strange idea came to my mind. What do you think about marooning (right word?) Madeleine in the swedish woods?? No tanning beds, no french manicure, no L'Oreal, no Gucci...only the pure nature...maybe we could even sell this concept as "reality-TV" to a swedish TV-station (SVT or TV4) *lookinginnocent*

Both the greenhouse and the Öland pic is "private" and they were a part of the "Kungen 30 years" show at Solliden last summer.
So I dont know who took them, but I think I remeber that other pics from that summer at Öland were taken by the the kings "adjutant" (the man who follows him around all the time :)) so perhaps its him?

Translation of the quote:

"To make your own pizza and eat it all warm and fresh was the most fun thing we'd ever experienced"

yes, but what is the context? Making Pizza, the funniest thing in life? Even I don´t have such a boring life, that I would call "making Pizza" the funniest thing.

Silvia, her brothers and cousins, a total of 40 people, used to do that when they were little and visiting Silvias aunt and uncle at their coffee plantage in Brazil.

and remember, this was in the 40´s. Perhaps pizza wasn´t an "everyday thing" like its nowadays
