Amazement was great when none other than the King came to the asylum reception center in Grytan. Some of the asylum seekers were given even a separate audience with the majesty at a tepee.
The king changed the plans and stepped out of his car earlier than planned and went to meet the refugees.
The King's driver told:
- He just said - I want to get off here...
Many were fascinated that a king could just go around and chat with them.
- At home in Yemen, it is impossible that a head of state would only come on a visit like this. It was very nice, commented Yusra Abohadi.
Ziad Al-Lahwani from Syria and Mohammad Arif Elham from Afghanistan agreed that this was a highly sensational event.
- We are very flattered. Though I believe that each one of all who live here would like to sit down with the king and tell him about their problems, said Ziad.

The refugee crisis was very current in Jämtland today, it was informed that in 2016 Jämtland County must receive 698 unaccompanied children, this year in the beginning of the year the need was only 90. But in reality this year 349 children have come to Jämtland.

Queen Silvia met on Monday representatives of Non-Violence Project Sweden:
"Thank You Your Majesty the Queen that you support us in our work with non-violence education for children and young people in Sweden. Today, we have presented our work and handed a gift - a revolver designed by Ringo Starr. Knowledge is Power!"

Queen Silvia's support for Swedish drug policy and her commitment to the issue of drugs is both controversial and political. This is said by number of drug researchers SVT News talked to.
The queen has been long time committed to the drug issue, she has taken a clear definition stand both for zero tolerance against drugs and for drug-free society.
In early October, The Queen opened the conference Sweden against drugs, organized by a number of popular movements against drugs. The conference also received the so-called royal patronage.
But the commitment is now being questioned by researchers.
- Today the political disagreement is greater than ever in drug issues, says Björn Johnson, drug researcher at Malmö University, who believes that the Queen's involvement is problematic.

The King of Sweden has called for a ban on bathtubs to help cut emissions in an interview ahead of UN climate talks in Paris.

“All bathtubs should be banned. Just imagine it!”, Carl XVI Gustaf exclaimed to the Svenska Dagbladet newspaper.

He said that the idea had come to him the day before the interview as he was going through his morning routine in a room which lacked a shower, forcing him to run a bath.

“It took a lot of fresh water and energy,” the king said. “It struck me so clearly: it’s not wise that I have to do this. I really felt ashamed then, I really did.”

Later in the interview, he stressed that the suggestion was “lighthearted”

“But there is a truth there,” he stressed. “Those small details have an enormous effect.”

King Carl Gustaf visits today Västra Götaland county. He will, among other things, visit Chalmers Energy Research and try out three-wheel electric vehicles. A visit is also made at Säveån to look at efforts to improve the environment for fish migration routes between spawning and nursery grounds. Säveån salmon got the royal attention on Monday. King Carl Gustaf visited Jonsered currents in Partille municipality and was told about the work to improve the habitat of the unique salmon stock.
As an angler and engaged in the fishery conservation issues the king was very interested to see the results of the improved migration routes for fish.
- It is important to convey that there will be good results of this type of work. There will also be bonus effects around, he said during his visit.

The King has attended UN's environmental conferences since the first one which happened to be held in Stockholm 1972. That marked a turning point in the development of international environmental politics. That is a lifelong involvement in environmental issues that is rarely discussed when the work of the King is talked about.

Silvia gave an interview in Düsseldorf where she talked about the pregnant ladies of the family, Victoria and Sofia, they should slow down and work and travel less because of their pregancies, stop going to places where there is a lot of people and bacteria and stay more at home.

To be honest, such a statement is really out of touch. Compared to other pregnant women, neither Victoria nor especially Sofia work much. A pregnancy is not an illness.

Sometimes I think the SRF members have to be protected from themselves because of the stupid comments they make in public.

Yes, I read that interview from Expressen and it made me laugh and almost cry at the same time. Queen Silvia is totally outside of the every day life when she is saying that Victoria and Sofia should rest more. And that they should not travel. And that Victoria stayed out of Global Child Forum because there were too much (400) people.
Good that Victoria went two days after that to Sweden International Horse Show, there was 15 000 people. And to the Christmas Fair, there was a lot of people.
Victoria and Sofia are both feeling fine. Victoria is working quite much, Sofia sometimes. But their work can't be compared to the common swedish pregnant women, who work 8 hours a day 5 days a week without help of assistants, drivers, secretaries, nannies and other staff. Those women have to go to buses with a lot of people and bacteria especially during the winter. I got angry on behalf of those women after I read queen Silvia's interview.
Yes, queen Silvia is a mother who wants the best for her children and in-laws, but perhaps she should remember that she is the queen of all swedish pregnant women too.

During the last times I have started hoping that queen Silvia would speak at these interviews only about the visit/award/cause why she is interviewed in the first place.

At the Expressen link, which Duke of Marmalade posted, is a video of Expressen's Johan T Lindwall interviewing queen Silvia in Germany. Queen Silvia tells at the video all these things about plea to Victoria and Sofia to slow down, rest more, not to travel and not go to places where there is a lot of people. She tells here also the Estelle and popcorn story.
Nothing to do with Margareta Thorgen.

The translation of what the Queen said could perhaps have been better. Her concerns were very valid. Many of the assignments the two Princesses have been on involved people from parts of the world where vaccinations are not as common. Illnesses that we take for granted to be very rare due to all children being vaccinated are more common in other parts of the world. The two Princesses are not sitting in an office all day. They are out among people and have much higher degree of risk in being exposed. The Queen also said ...perhaps they could cut back a little on their travel...
