Johan T Lindwall writes in Expressen that queen Silvia risks permanent damage after the ski accident. That the injured shoulder to heal and rehabilitate so good as possible, the queen now spends at least a couple of hours per week in physiotherapy.
But despite the physiotherapy, the damage can be permanent. According to Expressen's sources the doctors have told the queen that she risks that she will ever be able to raise her right arm over her shoulder. This is due to the rigidity that may be right after the surgery that the Queen has undergone.
Margareta Thorgren from the press department wouldn't comment Expressen's reports that the queen is likely to have a limited range of motion for the rest of her life:
- We've talked about the accident and told that the Queen had a fractured right shoulder and received hospital treatment. We do not comment the damage in detail.
The Queen will get physiotherapy now the next six months?
- Like I said, we don't comment anything in more detail.
Thorgren points out:
- The queen is doing well and is on the mend. Everything is going in the right direction.
The Queen's brother Ralf de Toledo Sommerlath says to Expressen's Max Sohl Stjernberg:
- She seems to be doing okay and is back in Sweden, he says, noting that Silvia had surgery.

So very sorry to hear this. A major impact on a life when mobility gets impacted.

I have a shoulder similar to what JL was talking about and it seems worse than it is I would say. You quickly learn to adapt and you begin to forget you don't have complete movement. Granted I have not had full movement for 8 years or so now but I learned quickly. I am sure the pain is worse than the loss of movement.

The king and queen visited on Friday Kolmården Wildlife Park, which celebrates it's 50th anniversary. During the visit they also took the opportunity to greet elephants Bua and Sanoi, which the king got as a gift from Thailand's King in 2004. Since then, one of the two females, Bua, received calf Namsai which has now reached the age of two years.
- The King is very interested in animals and nature. It was a positive meeting, they think it is good to see how the animals are taken care of. The weather was nice and the king and queen were in a good mood. Especially considering that the Queen has previously injured her shoulder. The queen is doing well and is strong as a person. Healing process goes as planned, that is why she had also the possibility to attend. She has the support she needs because it was not long ago she injured her shoulder, but the important thing is that everything is healing as it should and she is in good health, said Margareta Thorgren from the press department.
Thorgren says that the plan is that the queen implements the future events at her calendar.

On April 21st the Royal Couple will attend a concert at the Stockholm Concert Hall to celebrate the composers Jean Sibelius and Carl Nielsen's 150 years Jubilee. Kalender - Sveriges Kungahus [NS4 version]

Now the Danish Court has announced that Queen Margrethe will attend as well. H.M. Dronningen er til stede ved koncert i anledning af Jean Sibelius og Carl Nielsens 150-års dage kl. 19.00 - Kongehuset

I wonder if we could expect the Finnish President, Mr Niinistö, and Mrs Haukio to attend as well. I would be a nice gesture

The Emerich Fund was established in 1994 at the initiative of Emerich Roth, who survived the Nazi regime in five different concentration camps. The Fund operates on a non-profit basis, with the aim of encouraging school pupils to take part in activities to combat violence and xenophobia, and to pave the way for a pleasant, compassionate school environment, through annual competitions.
