Thank you, tbhrc. Great pics I only wonder about the date in the caption. Third of june is hardly possible. Then the Royal couple was still in Helsingborg (they stayed one day more after the meeting at Sofiero) and on the 4th of june they had a duty in Borgholm.

Thank you tbhrc for these great pictures! Finally we get a glimpse of what our holidaying royals are up too, at least the King and Queen! Maybe they're paying a visit to the King's sister, Princess Birgitta, in Mallorca, since they're in Spain. And I believe another of the King's sisters, Princess Désirée Baroness Silfverschiöld, also has an apartment there. Hopefully more pictures will come later in the summer.

Why would she have to stay at home? In the summers they are all out and about, so at times none of them is in Sweden, and sometimes several of them are. Right now we don't know where they all are.

Generally someone always have to "fill in" (but this is mostly just a protocol issue, not for real) for the King when he's not in the country - but during for ex holidays like the summer when the family travels (and sometimes they travel together, the whole family) it isn't always possible to have one member of the Royal Family in Sweden. So there's sort of an "unofficial rule" which is made for our modern life that says the King and his family can be out of the country if they have too, as long as they are close anough to travel home on a short notice. And then there have also been times when the whole Royal Family have been far away, and then I think it's the Speaker of the Parliament that has take the official main responsibility in the country, and the King I guess then takes his work with him, so to speak.

PS. Mixer, this is a really interesting matter! Maybe I should ask the protocol department at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs to clear up what the official protocol really says...

For this pragmatic and practical answer, we should hug GD. When this issue would have been on the SRMB, then this would have led to a discussion with at least 20 posts.

I must admit, that I personally don´t understand at all, why a member of the RF (who has practically zero power) has to be in Sweden in times of a crisis. For the case one would throw an atom bomb on Sweden, princess Madeleine couldn´t do much...I also don´t see her debating with terrorists.
And as we have seen in december with the Tsunami catastrophe practically the RF wasn´t needed. But of course their mental support was very important, but one could always come home within at least 36 hours (even from Australia or South America) and this is time enough for the mental support (it can only happen, that some Royals don´t want to come home...from places like...hmm...Kenya ...ok, that´s history. Let´s close this chapter )

Marbella recover its Glamour of the Golden Era when the King and Queen of Sweden attend a party hosted by Gunilla von Bismarc

The royal couple behaved like normal tourists and took a bath in the mediterainian ocean before they returned to their home. The arrived on friday and stayed for 27 hours, the occation was only to attend the glamerous party og Gunilla von Bismarck to mark the inauguration of the property Sagitario, an impressivie building/estate that has been buildt in Istan. There are close ties between the two families and the article says that when they were young the King and Gunilla went to School together.

It seems like there was a costume party I cant quite understand and that, I think it says the Queen went as Marilyn Monroe and the King as Zorro.(im really not sure of I understood that part ) Also present was the Duchess of York. Because of the disquise noone noticed them and they enjoyed andalucian food and dance- The left a big tip at the hotel before they left and the manager said they enjoyed their stay to a 100 prosent

The royal couple are in St Maxime right now and due to the fires that are very close to the town now, the royal court are looking for a "evacuation plan"

Too bad that this is happening once again. Must be terrible for people whos homes are in danger.

And now some news - today the King was briefed by a government official down in France after the terror attacks in London. He was briefed on the situation and the actions taken by Swedish authorities (for ex the Prime Minister and several ministers have broken off their holiday to return to their ministries today).

Not? I´ve thought you have already packed polish for your Riva boat into your suitcase. Well, probably you don´t want to make us jealous. "Jealous" is a good keyword...the legs of the queen are absolutely fabulous. After all she´s 61.5 years old. Then most women look like "grandmas"

And now some news - today the King was briefed by a government official down in France after the terror attacks in London. He was briefed on the situation and the actions taken by Swedish authorities (for ex the Prime Minister and several ministers have broken off their holiday to return to their ministries today).

It seems the government has learnt its deal and doesn´t forget Carl Gustaf anymore.
