Today the King visited some of the landscapes around Jönköpings County to access the damages caused by the hurricane and storms and meet with both officials and people affected. As he was in the County, he started off with a lunch with the County Governor of Kronoberg, Lars Åke Lagrell, at his beautiful residence. Then the King took off by helicopter, as the Chairman of the National Board of Forestry hosted him on the tour around the landscapes.

The King was devastated by the amount of trees (timber) lost in the storms and the damages done to the nature, communications etc. and said:
- A national catastrophe
- The State has to deal with this too (referring to the national catastrophe with the tsunami)

First four pics from Fotomarktplatz, last two from Svenska Dagbladet/Scanpix.

A article in Aftonbladet about the "new king". He gets credit for his actions at the time of the tsunami and 25 % of the swedes has changed their opinion and now supports the king "more" than before.

The final words in the article: Now the king is back on track :)

I think that is a pretty accurate assessment of how many of us felt around here. It is at least how I feel about him. And a 25% jump in approvals from Swedes is a very big leap! Good for the King and good for the Swedes for taking notice of the King's actions.

Great to see all these pictures from the event (which I saw live on tv, btw) - it's a great organisation and the King's attendance was widely covered in Sweden by the media (you could also spot Finnish state tv YLE, by the microphone) and SVT24 has broadcasted live from the conference. The King did really well, and that was of course very good for him. Thanks for posting the pics, Lyonnaise!

Article from Aftonbladet today:

Summary of the article:
During the years the King has skied been an eager sporter, and has for example skied Vasaloppet three times. But due to too little snow, he has not been able to ski as often as he would like – and now he has gotten an exercise bike. He never thought he would ever sit on one, but now he does, he tells Aftonbladet during the Swedish Skiing Champsionships. He doesn’t think he will complete any more Vasalopp, because it takes a lot to be able to make it work – a lot of preparations time, good health and no mistakes (spangling an ankle for ex.). So this past fall, the King has used an exercise bike at home in the basement of Drottningholm Palace. He says that he will try to get out more in the forests too. He also commented the doping scandals that have been in the skiing sports the last few years, saying that the problems need to come out as soon as possible – that doping doesn’t only destroy the sport, it destroys human beings.

Kungen byter till - motionscykeln
"Vasaloppet känns väldigt långt borta"

HUDIKSVALL.
