Some information about the "Arctic Sweden"
Polarforskningssekretariatet
Crown Princess Victoria is on a study visit to Abisko. "Arctic Sweden" includes research on e.g. climate change in the Swedish Lapland. Victoria is patron of the International Polar Year.

Norrländska Socialdemokraten/Mycket nöjd med besöket
Crown princess Victoria said she is very happy with her three-day visit to Abisko. Visit is a part of that she is a patron of the International Polar Year. She has been interested in the environment and nature for a long time, this is partly inherited from the king. Victoria said that she is worried about the reports the researchers produce on the environment and climate change, but she doesn´t want to let it paralyze her.
- The reports provided are becoming more and more worrying. But it is good to know that you can still have an impact and it is important to think about it, said Victoria.
Victoria loves chocolate and she was pleased with the handmade "Kirunapralinerna" she received during her visit.

Crown princess Victoria attended today the meeting with the Advisory Council on Foreign Affairs as a chairman, because king Carl Gustaf is in Beijing.

Does anyone have any pics from the meeting? Nice to see Victoria chair an goverment meating, certainly not that common - even though she (or the king) doesn´t have any power.

The meetings of the Advisory Council on Foreign Affairs are very hush-hush, the discussions in the meetings are private and there are no media allowed anywhere nearby (they can wait outside the building if they want too, but it doesn't happen all that often) and the protocolls I believe are kept classified for a period of time. The media would have no interest in a picture either, so we almost never get any pics from these sort of meetings, the only thing we heard were comments from the Prime Minister afterwards regarding the situation in Georgia which was discussed.

And no, Victoria did not chair the meeting. In accordance with our Constitution it is the Head of State (ie the King) who chairs them and in his absence the Prime Minister steps in. Foreign media probably just assumed that Victoria chaired the meeting simply because she was there alone when she's usually attending these kinds of meetings together with her dad, and they clearly did not check facts.

GrandDuchess; Is Victoria considered "acting Head of State" when the king is out of the country? If she is, will the Prime Minister still take precedence ahead of her?

Acting regent yes, but there is only one Head of State of a country - no matter where they are - so I doubt that the Constitution makes a difference here. At least I wouldn't think so, but maybe there are unofficial side-documents ruling this, I don't know. The law in this case is very clear otherwise "Chairman at the meetings of the council is the head of state, or if he has impediment, the Prime Minister".

So far my favourite serie after the summer break! This dress (and high heels) really flatters her and doesn´t make her looking like a swimmer at a gala or a big meeting with sponsors and not look like 5 months preggers.
And the ponytail was less messy and "higher up" than usual...so it had even looked nice (don´t search for "Lena" and "ponytail" pls. )
Only minus...partly it seems to be out of linen, so wrinkles can´t be avoided

Would have been nice to see a picture that one can actually see anything on... Does anyone have any other pic from this event?

I like what she wrote in her blog. Basicly she says that even she as an firm republican melted when she saw that someone as important as the Crownprincess attended such an common concert and she says that she and a few others waited outside after the concert to get a glimse of the Crownprincess. When Victoria came out and should step into her car she held up her cameraphone and then Victoria looked straight at her and smiled and waved - then the reporter melted like the polarice...
