A really beautiful looking family, the little princess is quite the beauty.

Victoria meets today the Secretary-General Elisabeth Wallenius and Malin Grände from Rare Diseases Sweden at the Royal Palace.

From the website of the Rare Diseases Sweden
Since the 10th anniversary and the first Rare Disease Day 2008, Crown Princess Victoria has been the patron of the organisation. Why do we have a patron, and why it is precisely the Crown Princess?
Elisabeth Wallenius says:
- We are working to highlight the rare issues. It seemed worthwhile to have a patron. Our Danish sister organization has a good cooperation with Crown Princess Mary and it inspired. I think we have a very good Crown Princess. I saw her then, and even more today, as a Crown Princess who takes responsibility and an interest in real for our area. Having a royal patron is also a guarantor of the credibility of our business. From the beginning I did not know quite how she would get involved in our questions, but she has really done that, and I guess she just accepts an assignment in which she is interested in.
Tomorrow it is time for a new meeting with Crown Princess Victoria. Why, and what are your expectations of the meeting?
- I've met her a few times before, they have been very rewarding meetings. It's to give an update on what we do, what our plans are and have a good conversation about it. Previously she has been very positive and expressed willingness to help with what she can contribute. She took part in the first Rare Disease Day 2008, and distributed our scholarships. On Rare Disease Day 2012 she was unable to be with, because princess Estelle was just born. But I hope that the Crown Princess attends the next Rare Disease Day on 29 februari 2016.

Elisabeth Wallenius about the meeting:
"It's valuable to have the opportunity to inform the Crown Princess of developments in the covenant and how the situation is for people who have rare diseases in Sweden, in terms of both health and social care, such as medical research and volunteer work within the patient organization.
The Crown Princess is well-read and informed, genuinely interested and asked many questions. We talked a lot about what happens at the Nordic level with the newly established network of Nordic cooperation organizations for rare disorders, SBONN. We also told about Rare Disease Day February 29, 2016, and expressed our hopes that Crown Princess could participate then, in one way or another. She couldn't answer now, but we have promised to come back with concrete proposals about her involvement in the Day and some other activities. It was a very positive meeting with our royal patron who is very interested in our work and wishes us well!"

There were many ministers and politicians at the same event.

Victoria visited on 11th February the Armed Forces Headquarters and was welcomed by the Supreme Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces, Sverker Göranson. Nothing about this visit at the court website. Photos from the Instagram of the Supreme Commander. Victoria was informed of, inter alia, the Finnish-Swedish cooperation, communication operation and future efforts.

:previous: Thank you LadyFinn. She has been very busy lately, hasn't she?

I wish I cwould be able to look on the new calendar but the latest update only made me more confused about it:bang:

According to the court in addition to the visit to Kenya, Victoria will also visit Lisbon/Volvo Ocean Race on 4-5 June and Riga on 15th June. Maybe threads of them can be made later when we get more info and if a thread is needed. On 15th June in Riga is the EuroPride 2015 opening, I wonder if Victoria's trip has something to do with that.

Riga on the day of Europride? interesting!

The court has updated Victoria's calendar. She visits Kenya on April 21-24.
Kalender - Sveriges Kungahus [NS4 version]

Johan T Lindwall writes in Expressen that Victoria raises the working tempo, soon after the visit to South Korea a trip to Kenya.
- The Crown Princess is looking very much forward to the trip. She visited Kenya in 2009 and thinks it will be interesting to come back to see how Gundua's education and health projects have been developed. The Crown Princess will, among other things on this trip visit Gundua Secondary Day School in Ex-Lewa and a health clinic that Gundua Foundation is running. When the Crown Princess was there in 2009, she participated at the opening ceremony, says Ulrika Näsholm from the press department.
Victoria visits also a wildlife conservation project in Laikipia area. During the days in Kenya the crown princess will also visit Nairobi and at a health project there and also meet Swedish entrepreneurs at the area. Prince Daniel stays this time at home with Princess Estelle.

It wouldn't surprise me. Victoria is one of the few royals who has participated in lgbt-events. She unexpectedly turned up at the Swedish gay-gala in 2013 to hand out the award "Homo of the year". The writer Jonas Gardell received the price.

That wouldn't surprise me either. But there is also a more likely event, a 10th Baltic Sea Science Congress starting. When Victoria visited Riga last September, president Bērziņš told at their meeting about this congress and invited Victoria there, because Victoria is very interested in Baltic Sea issues.

The terrorist attack in Kenya can stop Victoria

Just days after the court decided on Victoria's trip, the African country is shaken by a brutal terrorist attack. At least 70 students were killed by the terrorist group al-Shabab after a hostage situation at a university in Garissa in eastern Kenya.
The terrorist attack does not stop Victoria's planned trip - but it could be in jeopardy.
- We follow the developments and the Crown Princess is informed about the terrible incident in Kenya. This means that we will make a new safety assessment. We always do that when the royal family travels somewhere, said Margareta Thorgren
The court has not yet had time to consider how the trip is affected by Thursday's tragedy.
- All differend kinds of events mean that we must always be prepared and have the possibility to plan programs and trips again, says Thorgren.
The court will inform within the next few days what happens.
- We'll return to how it will be with the trip, says Thorgren.

The decision was made on Wednesday evening. The director of the press department Margareta Thorgren to Expressen:
- We have made a safety assessment and decided to postpone the planned trip. Of course the crown princess hopes to conduct the visit at a later time.

Such a shame. Hopefully she can go at another time

And the visit to Riga has been updated in the calendar stating that the Victoria will attend The VI Annual Forum of the European Union Strategy for the Baltic Sea.

Victoria visited Europol, the European law enforcement agency. She met with Rob Wainwright, Director of Europol, and the members of the Swedish Liaison Bureaux. Europol’s role in tackling serious organised crime and terrorism, and the strong cooperation between Europol and Swedish law enforcement authorities, were among the topics discussed during the visit.
