European film festival to start December 4th.</STRONG>
Pet0193 4 0558 European film festival to start December 4th. Amman, Nov. 29 (Petra)--Under the Patronage of Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al-Abdullah, the British Council and the European Commission, in collaboration with the embassies of the participating European Union member states, will be hosting the 17th EU Film Festival in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at Cine Le Royal from 4-17 December 2005. A total of thirteen films will be screened during the festival, representing thirteen of the European Union member states. All films will be shown free of charge, and for each film there will be two screenings - at 8pm in the evening, and again at 5.30pm the following day. The event, which is held annually, aims to show snapshots of European life and give Jordanians a sense of the culture and diversity of the European states. The films take the viewer on a ride across Europe, offering a glimpse of its different faces and of the human aspirations of their heroes, which, at the end of the day, are very similar to those from everywhere else in the world. Through this brief look into the lives of modern-day Europeans, the festival seeks to create deeper cultural understanding between Europe and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. This year's films have been selected by the participating embassies with Jordanian audiences in mind. All films are shown in their original language, with subtitles in English. As the United Kingdom currently holds the presidency of the European Union, the festival will commence with a reception for invited guests hosted by the British Council on Sunday, December 4th 2005. This will be followed by the screening of the British film, 'Dear Frankie'. On consecutive days up to the close of the festival on December 17th, the following countries will show their entries. thank you for this article.
I wonder if there will be an opening gala?
I certainly hope so. We haven't seen any pictures from a formal event in quite a while.
QR is supposed to be speaking in Dubai for the Young Arab Leaders Forum that same morning.
I hope she shows up at both events.
