Avalon,
It has been kind of you to provide this excerpt from the article. Moreover, it is really, really great to learn that Queen Rania officially comments on such unpleasant topic, thereby putting an end to speculations.

Q rania in traditional jordanian clothes

I wonder why don’t Q rania wear the Traditional Jordanian Clothes when she visits another countres, q noor used to wear them when she travels to another countres, also it is going to be nicer if Q rania wear the traditional dress while visiting poor people schools or houses, I sow on picture of her wearing that it was really nice my point is its nicer to look simple instead of wearing designers clothes while visiting poor areas in Jordan. And i never sow her wearing the red (hata)!!!!!!!! you can see the (hata ) in these pictures , one Qnoor wearing it and the another P Haya wearing it.;)

What does the red(hata) symbolize? I've seen pictures of Queen Rania in something similar, but it had black as well as red and white. Thanks for any insight

Queen Rania

(I did both a link and *hopefully* a thumbnail picture but am not sure if I used the proper code language)

Amman, Jan. 14 (Petra)-- In an effort to bolster women's participation in the workforce, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah patronized a High Level Gender Policy Forum, which convened Sunday in Amman.

Thanks for the pictures! Rania looks fantastic, it seems as though her well-earned rest has done her good.

It's nice to see Princess Sumaya at the event as well.

It seems like Rania and Abdullah had a quick trip to south Africa at some point recently

LOL I wonder when thAt was, u see King Abdullah is brave...Seriously, having to deal with the current situation in the region is a million times harder than diving with Sharks! May God grant him health...:flowers:

Q.R. looks great as usual and the King went into a shark cage? Would of love to see that live. I agree he is brave, but I thought Kings had to be careful and wasn't able to do things that might jeopardy his life. Isn't going into a Shark cage risky?

I like how the King does things that one doesn't usually think of as Kingly behavior (like being an extra on Star Trek, too! ^.^)

I suspect Abdullah is referring to his visit to South Africa in early in 2006 (I think). I remember being curious about it, as Hamzah, Hashem and Ali were with him when he met with former South African president Nelson Mandela (I saw a picture). That was the only real official engagement I can remember from what was a several-day visit. To my knowledge, Rania did not go. It appeared to be just a trip for the boys. I suspected at the time that it was a private getaway hidden behind some official duties. A holiday not announced as a holiday.

The article itself uses information from an interview Abdullah gave Conde Nast Traveler, which appears in the January 2007 edition (pages 34 and 38). Magazines tend to do its pieces well in advance, so the trip might have been still fresh in his mind when he spoke with the reporter.
