Associated Press - December 24, 2008 1:23 PM ET
Corrected Version
WASHINGTON (AP) - In a Dec. 22 story about gifts to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, The Associated Press, relying on faulty information published by the State Department in the Federal Register, reported erroneously that King Abdullah II of Jordan gave Rice jewelry valued at $147,000 in January 2007. The department now says the jewelry was given by King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice raked in more than $300,000 in gem-encrusted baubles from the king of Saudi Arabia, making her one of the top recipients in 2007 among U.S. officials of gifts from foreign heads of state, according to a new report. King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia gave Rice an emerald and diamond necklace, ring, bracelet and earrings estimated at $147,000 in January. He also presented Rice with a ruby and diamond necklace with matching earrings, bracelet and ring worth $165,000 in July. In 2005, the Saudi monarch also gave Rice a $170,000 flower petal motif necklace.

If I'm not mistaken the first article spoke of the King only and the article announcing their return mentioned them both by name.

Either the latter was mistaken or she joined him afterwards.

An excellent move by the Jordanians. It's good to see something practical that ultimately will benefit ordinary Palestinians being done.
