Throughout the coverage of the funeral, I could see almost all the women having to fix their veils because it was quite windy. Most of the women's scarves slipped from their heads at one point or another, I saw the Spanish and Belgian Queens adjusting their scarves several times. Infact Asma al-Assad's scarf completely slipped off her head and in some pics she wasn't wearing it at all. Rania was wearing it the entire time but rather loosely like all the women. Most of them had to hold it down on their heads with their hands.

King confident of Badran

AMMAN (Petra) — His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday said Jordan's top priority was to engage citizens in an active and productive partnership in decision making and building the future. King Abdullah told a Cabinet meeting that ensuring justice, equality and equal opportunities for all citizens should set the government's standards in dealing with Jordanians.

“Jordan is for all Jordanians,” the King stressed.

Reiterating that improving the living of citizens should top the government's priorities, the Monarch said he appreciated the previous governments' efforts to achieve comprehensive development.

He underlined the need to build on such efforts in order to meet the aspirations of Jordanians for a bright future.

“Reform cannot be achieved overnight and we are proud that Jordan was one of the first countries that adopted reform policies in the region,” King Abdullah said.

Stressing that obstacles facing reform must be removed, the King said timetables should be set by ministries to implement their projects and plans.

King Abdullah, meanwhile, said that the selection of Adnan Badran as prime minister was based on the premier's “belief in reform and experience in public service.”

“We are confident that Dr Badran is capable of implementing our vision for the future of Jordan,” the Monarch said.

Stressing that all officials should work as one team, King Abdullah underlined the significance of continuous coordination and cooperation between the Royal Court, the government and the security services to go ahead with development and reform.

“Our people always deserve the best... We are all working to serve one nation and share one destiny in line with one vision,” King Abdullah said.

The King also stressed that the government should contribute to enhancing ties with Arab countries in a way that serves joint objectives.

On Iraq, the King said, Jordan is determined to extend all support for the neighbouring country at this current stage.

“The success of the Iraqis in rebuilding their state is a success for Jordan,” he said.

For the Palestinians, the King continued: “They need every sincere effort to help them achieve their goals to end the occupation and establish their independent state.”

Badran, for his part, vowed that the government will work as one team and do its utmost to realise the vision of the King for building up a modern Jordan. He said the Cabinet will coordinate with the Parliament to implement the King's directives in the Letter of Designation.

Ministers presented the King with plans to run their ministries and ways to accomplish their projects at an optimal level.

Badran said the government will immediately embark on political, economic, social and educational reforms in line with the King's vision.

012King Abdullah: Top priority is to have our citizen a productive partner
in building the future
Amman/ April 10 (Petra)-- His Majesty King Abdullah II said
on Sunday our top priority is to have the Jordanian citizen a
productive and effective partner in drafting the future and in the
decision-making process.
Speaking during the first cabinet he presided over on
Sunday, King Abdullah said administering justice, equity, and equal
opportunities for all citizens is the criteria that should be
followed by any government in handling citizens issues.
The King noted that Jordan is for all Jordanians and there
is no discrimination between one citizen and another except in how
much he/she offers for the country.
A top priority for the new government is to improve
standards of the living standard of all citizens and to achieve
accomplishments that can be felt by the citizens, King Abdullah
said.
Commending accomplishments realized by previous
governments, the King underlined the necessity to build on these
achievements with the aim of fulfilling people's aspiration for a
bright future.
Reform is a comprehensive and a long-term process that can't
be achieved overnight, said the King expressing his pride that
Jordan was one of the first countries that have embarked on a
reform policy in the region.
"There are lots of obstacles that may impede the reform
process but these hindrances should be removed and a time frame
should made for any program or project managed by any ministry or
government department," King Abdullah said.
The new Prime Minister Adnan Badran has been chosen on the
account of his belief in reform, and his long experience in public
work, said the King expressing his confidence in the Badran's
ability to realize the royal vision for the future of Jordan.

King Abdullah urged all parties to be up to their
responsibilities wherever they and to work in team spirit stressing
the need for continuous coordination between the Royal Court,

" Our work should be based on the fact that our people
always deserve the best and we are all working for one country, one
destiny and within one vision," King Abdullah told the 25-member
cabinet.
On relations with Arab countries, King Abdullah called upon
the new government to contribute to strengthening relations with
sisterly Arab states in a way that serves our common objectives
with these countries.
The King stressed the necessity to continue supporting Iraqi
brothers at a time when they are establishing their state. "The
success of the Iraqis in building their state is eventually a
success for Jordan," King Abdullah said.
" The Palestinian brothers are our kinsmen and they are in
need of every sincere effort to realize their objective in ending

government members to work in harmony and speed up measures to
implement reform plans.
The government would immediately start its political,
economic, social and educational reform programs in
accordance with the royal vision.
