March 2009, the Historic Preservation Program has been actively at work documenting a small, abandoned villa that has been given to the GSAPP by the city of Amman. The villa was built in about 1935 for one of Jordan's first prime ministers. Five students began the documentation during spring break and seven students (along with George Wheeler and Andrew Dolkart) spent time during the summer completing the project

Since When is Rania the Foreign Minister of Jordan?
...While the commentary was well written and its content hardly surprising for a public official in the Arab world, what was notable is that the messenger was not Jordan’s King Abdullah or Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh.
Some are asking whether the Jordanian queen's popularity rendered her a more effective diplomat than her husband.

I don't know where these belong (I couldn't find them in other threads I checked), so I'll post them here.
Rania's op-ed in The Independent:
Queen Rania of Jordan: Hardliners are now the face of Israel - Commentators, Opinion - The Independent
And some coverage of the reaction to it in Jordan:
The Media Line
… when Her Majesty wrote an OpEd for the London Independent on the botched Israeli raid on the Gaza-bound flotilla, some Jordanians wondered whether their queen had started running the country's foreign relations department …

I've noticed over the years QR's waning caution when commenting on the conflict, before she was always sure to evenly distribute praise and criticism to both sides, but more recently, with comments on American news shows and at the university (last year, I think?) it was becoming more and more apparent she was leaning in favor of the Palestinians. Agreed, like the article mentions, she came out so strongly about it now because she knew the majority of the world was outraged at the flotilla raid and there would be few if any reprimands if she openly criticized Israel.
Also agree having the queen comment rather than KA or the prime minister made a very loud point. I'm glad she did it.

There hasnt been a guest list out yet but personally I doubt she will be attending. I dont think they are close or know each other and the wedding. I think the Queens that are related such as Queen Sofia & Queen M will be attending but then they would invite close friends that are royals but it wont be a wedding fit for a crown prince.

The Jordanian and Greek royals have attended each other's weddings in the past but I don't expect QR to attend the upcoming one simply because the JRF sends junior royals to less high profile weddings.

Jordan's Queen Rania rejects offer to publish Hebrew edition of her children's book
...Brisk sales of the book have put it on the New York Times' bestseller list, and its promotion in the United States has included appearances by the Jordanian queen in television interviews with Oprah Winfrey and Barbara Walters. The book was launched in April with a reading given by Rania at the United Nations...

strange it gives no reason for her decision. though i couldn't see specifically rejecting hebrew as beneficial to her cause, i don't see her publishing it in any other languages either...

I kind of suspected this response. The story didn't make sense. A lot of reports regarding the JRF from Israeli sources have proved to be false. Remember the one about the royal family's dog being treated in Israel which turned out to be a fabrication and the newspaper even apologized for it.
It's a pity but it happens even in Canada.
