State Visit from Vietnam to Denmark: September 18-20, 2013

What a difference between Joachim and Marie, who looks shy. I don't like that gold on her dress and the same tiara ...
The Entrance of the Crown Princes was royal , Mary is perfect as always!
Mary and Alexandra that should have been a match ....

I like the scruff on Frederik but different strokes for different folks.

Great pics thanks to all. Did Princess Elizabeth not attend? Perhaps she is not well enough. I would like to see BT & others show better pics of Prss Benedikte too.

Mary looks great in that new dress for the return dinner. Im disappointed so far we didn't get more pictures and that Day 2 was very quiet.

i love marys look. hope we will get more photos.. it is excited if i can get home in time to se her today!!!!!

Mister President is certainly impressed by the tall classy , bejeweled Royal Scandinavian Queen with white hair . She is "unique".

Frederik looks like an old sailor dragged off his boat last minute. His Kennedy haircut makes me cringe.

LOL, I think it is like Marmite - you either love it or hate it! But you know what they say, all the nice girls love a sailor!

One thing I have noticed over the last few years, and is most apparent to me in the pictures on this thread, is how much Crown Princess Mary reminds me of Queen Ingrid when she was young - anyone else thought the same thing?

Finally someone says it:previous: I have been thinking the same thing for a long time, I thought I was the only one! they look like they could be distantly related or even mother and daughter. Maybe that's why Frederik fell for Mary, she reminded him of his dear grandmother:lol::flowers:

:previous:Frederik looks great. :flowers:

Frederik will be regent now from the 21st to the 30th, Do we know where the queen will be going?

If I have understood the translation correctly, one of the editors of Noblesse & Royautes was invited to the gala dinner at Fredensborg Palace. They have posted the menu and information about the music that was played. The menu was:

- Dried cod mouse with salmon roe
- Chicken in lemon with small carrots and sweet corn
- Neck of pork with leaf beets, celery, peas and ginger sauce
- Rice salad with prawns
- Paris Breast with bitter orange

Here's the link to the article: Google Translate

I like the sound of the dried cod, chicken in lemon and the rice salad. :p

It´s not news here in Denmark :flowers: Everyone has noticed it and Billed-Bladet made this frontpage of her in 2008
http://www.billedbladet.dk/sites/bi...kongelige/kongeligt-aar-i-billeder-2008/8.jpg

And if you compare it to this frontpage from 1935, I think you can see the idea :flowers:

Summary of a number of articles in Billed Bladet #39, 2013.
All written by Annelise Weimann & Ulrik Ulriksen.

It all started with the DRF, with QMII in front wearing her Teletubby-full dress outfit waiting for the Vietnamese visitors at the airport. Unfortunately a republican hail storm interfered with the proceedings leading the plane, escorted by two F-16's to land fifteen minutes late.
Then it was off to Fredensborg. The last stretch being escorted by Guards Hussars and a wawing scene on the stairs of Fredensborg to the locals who had gathered outside to have a look at the show.

M&F are very much taking over from the Regent Couple, so the next day it was M&F who acted as tour guides for the Vietnamese guests. Mary took the Vietnamese first lady to a kindergarten, where they were presented to the Free from Bullying policy acted out by the children. The first lady, Mai Thi Hahn, then insited of a tour of the kindergarten.
The kindergarten called Humlebien = the bumble bee, is located in a more affluent part of Copenhagen.

Frederik in the meantime took care of the Vietnamese President, Sang, and they went on a tour of Copenhagen harbour together. While sailing along Frederik suddenly burst out: "That's where I live"! And pointed out the window, confusing the President until he realised he was looking at Amalienborg.
Later on they were shown the Little Mermaid. That is... The President had a little problem spotting the figure. She is after all little - and being grey, among grey rocks, above grey water and with a grey sky as background, one can hardly blame him.

The gala dinner? Just a few details: QMII's dress was by Birgitte Thaulow and her hair was done by her regular hairdresser, Poul Nejlund.
Our Marie wore a dress by Rikke Gudnitz.
Between Frederik and Joachim sat the PM, Helle Thorning, so one can only hope they have had their vaccinations updated...
Mary's LiW, Tanja Doky wore a dress by Marc Lecomte. Her husband who was also present is part Vietnamese.
Benedikte's dress was made by Wichmann Couture.

The Vietnamese gave a return dinner at Glyptoteket, a museum. Again QMII's hair had been done by Poul Nejlund.
Our Marie looked distinctly chic in her dress, while her husband must have had an accident with his suit so he was forced to show up in another and striped suit. One does not were vertical stripes if one is a tall slim gentleman. (If one wear horisontal stripes, one is unlikely to be a gentlemen...).
Frederik on the other hand must have studied the monthly edition of Gentleman's Attire, because he looked like a perfect accessory for his wife - except for the beard. Beard is for men who have a dense hair growth. Frederik does not have a dense hair growth, ergo the hairs ought to be plucked out one by one with a tweezer, that'll teach him!

First the guests were entertained by Vietnamese artists and singers.
Then it was time for the buffet. The DRF and the Vietnamese first couple dined seperatly but later on mingled with the other guests.
The whole show ended at 21.30 - just in time to get home to Amalienborg for the late evening news.
