They had a "state luncheon" at the Presidential Palace yesterday and this evening there will be a gala dinner hosted by Queen Margrethe. But no further state banquet hosted by the President.

From yesterday, Frederik visits the energy conference YPF, accompanied by environment and food minister Jakob Elleman-Jensen. YPF is one of Argentina’s most important energy companies and in recent years has begun a green transition. The Crown Prince’s visit is the start of a cooperative effort between YPF and Danish energy companies.

:previous: There is serious money, export and jobs in green technology and methods!

And now something for the uniform nerds. ?

https://images.clarin.com/2019/03/17/0NuW0Cd0e_0x750__2.jpg#1552934099696

Notice the Mounted Grenadier.
Grenadiers were heavy infantry of the line, hence why the soldier here is armed like a heavy dragoon, with a pallask, a straight single-edged sword.
The uniform is post-Napoleonic.
The colorful uniforms stayed on during the "long peace" in Europe from 1815 to the 1850's, where the technical development of the rifle combined with the need for being practical finally saw the end of such uniforms we see here.
The European style of uniforms inspired other countries outside Europe, also in South America - even though the period mentioned above period was anything but peaceful in South America! That was the period of the revolutions were several countries gained independence.
Anyway, Argentina is well suited for cavalry warfare, hence the reason why elite infantry regiments became mounted. Grenadiers were elite infantry, so when placed on a horse the uniform was "simplified" a little, riding boots were added, as well as a sword, and voila, you have a mounted grenadier.

Notice that the riding boots go to just below the knee. Often heavy dragoons would wear their boots higher, because they rode in close formation, knee locked behind the knee of the men beside them.
But large scale battles were rare in South America, so the more practical shorter boots were used. Mounted grenadiers either rode up to the battle line, then dismounted and fought with rifles, or remained mounted and steamrolled the opposition in front of them. The opposition, often consisting of militia or peasant conscripts who were poorly trained and even worse disciplined in the face of regular units, was such that it wasn't necessary to ride in close formation in order to ride them down and scatter them.

The coverage of this visit has been well covered by the media here in DK.

QMII is indeed pretty proud of her son and delighted for him being there with her. - That covers more ground and it's nice sharing the experience.
She is also impressed with Frederik's ability to connect with people he meet. She said: "He really is fantastic."

Frederik has taken on the role PH used to and which QMII, as Monarch, can't.
Together with the trade delegation Frederik is currently in the position, where he is helping "selling" Danish companies to Argentinians.
When he becomes king he can't do that to nearly the same extent.

Pity there was no State Dinner which makes it feel more of an Official Visit rather than a State one at least H.M.The Queen gets to host a gala dinner.

The Crown Prince is shown around at “Estadio Alberto J. Armando” and visits the projects “Powerchair Football Argentina” and “Social Development Goals Football”. The visit highlights Denmark’s and Argentina’s joint interest in the work with sport as a tool for inclusion.

Statsbesøg i Argentina - dag 2 | Kongehuset

In the framework of the State visit of Queen Margaret II of Denmark, the Crown Prince visited the Boca Juniors Athletic Club to learn about the social projects carried out by the Boca Social Foundation. The same was received by the General Secretary of the club, Christian Gribaudo. Also present will be Cristian Pavón, Paolo Goltz and Florencia Quiñones.

The motto of the visit is "sports as a tool of integration and inclusion". The Embassy of Denmark in Argentina supports the program Liga del Potrero feminine, which is involved - through sports - in the educational, social, personal and family life of more than 300 women between 12 and 18 years old. @ Boca Juniors

Great work Polyesco!!!

The Queen, following the state visit, spent a couple of private days in Jujuy Province, Northern Argentina

"Here the Queen has stayed in the town of Purmamarca, which is at the foot of the Seven Colors Mountain. During the stay, the Queen visited an archaeological museum in Tilcara, where the Danish descendant and archaeologist Maria Ester Albeck showed Her Majesty around. Both in the museum and in the ruins area of Pucará de Tilcara."

117 meters altitude then H.K.H. The Crown Prince this morning closer to a newly established wind farm in the city of Bahia Blanca.
The park, located 660 kilometers south of Buenos Aires, is called PEPE II and is the second phase of several planned wind farms in Argentina. Danish VESTAS is the supplier of the wind turbines, and PEPE II consists of 14 new VESTAS wind turbines of each 3.8 KW with a wing catch of 136 meters.

Im guessing he sent this picture directly to Mary and the kids : D

Great to see Frederik together with Margrethe during the tour. There have been a lot of photos where Margrethe seems really proud of what Frederik has accomplished. This photo has "proud mother" written all over it! ?

QMII would have had a great day!

Argentina is of course a pretty big country! As such the natives of the area of what is now Argentina, were very varied in regards to culture, language, beliefs and way of life.
It's everything from people living in the arid mountains (which QMII visited.) Living a life comparable to the Navajo peoples.
To the peoples living in the high mountains of Andes (a kind of Inca culture.)
To people living in the dense forests at the foothills who were and are basically neolithic hunter gatherers.
To people living on the plain. The Pampas, or rather on the fringes of the plain, because without animals to ride, they weren't that keen on venturing too deep into the plain. Pretty much the same thing as with the North American prairie Indians, pre-horse that is. Except there weren't any massive buffalo herds to sustain a large population, so there was even less incentive to move into the plain in Argentina.
To coastal tribes, who lived a life that can be very much compared to the native tribes from northern California up to around Vancouver. I.e. mainly fishing.
To Tribes living in Patagonia, who lived a life comparable to tribes living in Newfoundland and a bit north of there. I.e. fishing, hunting and gathering. Few in numbers and living a relatively meager existence.

There appears never to have been that many natives living in Argentina prior to 1500. Not even taking into account the theories that perhaps as many as 90 % of the native population of the Americas died as a result of pandemics, prior to and certainly after the arrival of Europeans.
On top of that the immigration to Argentina in the 1800 was only superseded by USA. It was absolutely massive! So natives were simply displaced and interbred with Europeans. So, combined with their culture being suppressed and being overwhelmed by sheer numbers, today most Argentinians can trace their family line back to at least a few natives.
The Jujuy province, being so remote, has the highest number of natives in Argentina, some 15 % of the population there.
The native population in that province used to be much higher, but during the war of independence this was the province where Spain concentrated its army in Argentina. So when the Argentinian rebels moved in, the Spanish conducted a scorched earth policy with devastating results for the locals.

Argentina was not a plantation or mining colony to nearly the same extent as in Brazil or for that matter Uruguay, so there are few decedents of black slaves in Argentina.

Muhler, let me add to your great description that by 1813 was not black slaves in Argentina. One reason is that as they saw coming the liberation of them , they were sent to Brazil and the remining slaves dies with the yellow fever as.
So until the beginning of 2000 you will never see in the streets a black person. Yellow fever was devastating taking the life of a lot of people, all natives, slaves, whites, you name it.
In America they have a really misconception of what it is to be Argentinean. For American you are latin, which it means you are not white. you are colour person. and if you are blond , blue eyes, they look at you and they say: " I do not understand but here said you born in Argentina, but you are white, blond, blue eyes"
After world war one and two you had a big immigration of European, Also in the 1800s Italy and Spain would send in the ships all the prisoners that they have in their own jail.
It is very interested to see the look of some people, so different and special, I have a cousin she married the descendant of an Indian princess, so her 2 kids, have Danish, Swedish, Spanish, and the native Indians from Patagonia, and her kids are gorgeous they have the statuest figure of a Viking and the blond hair and the brown eyes of the indian.
The Danish cominity it is not as big as the german, but still we have a great Danish community with Danish school and 2 churches in the country.

Interesti! Thank you for the insight ashelen!
