Some of the Danes other than Anne-Marie speak Greek? Why would they have learned that language? They could have just spoken English to Constantine and the children.

I once read somewhere I cannot remember that Frederik and Joachim spoke Greek, and that Pavlos spoke Danish. I know they all speak english so that might be the common language between them all.x

Interesting - that's cool about Fred and Joachim since Greek seems like it would be a difficult language. Do Alexia and Constantine speak any Danish? Does Margrethe speak any Greek?

I don't think that Margrethe speaks any Greek; kongehuset.dk list the languages she speaks as being Danish, French, Swedish, English and German. And actually, again according to their official website, neither Frederik nor Joachim speak Greek - although they might be able to hold a basic conversation or something, I don't know.

I have read that Pavlos and his siblings are able to speak Danish. I don't know about Constantine.

As you know Queen Margrethe is farmor (paternal grandmother) to eight children and here is an eleven pictures gallery from Familie Journalen: Dronning farmor - - Familie Journal

Five "caption this".

As I've mentioned elsewhere they are usually not very funny, but sometimes, sometimes, they've got that cheeky edge that makes it funny.

https://www.box.com/s/d7faf0d183cc53091632
"Now, sit nicely, grandpapa".

https://www.box.com/s/e858443bbecda6861f5d
Blue: "Listen, I did order with a view over the pool".
Pink: "It that an oil-painting then"?
Yellow: "They've got more nannies than Frederik and Mary...".
Green: "Do you also make salad-oil"?
Red: "Damned country to run out of oil in".

https://www.box.com/s/faca7ac03e2b569fd302
Pink cannot be translated, wordplay.
Blue: "The pants are made from Knut". (The late polarbear, lest anyone doesn't know).
Yellow: "Don't you give your brother more schnapps".
Green: "That's from the Danish IRS".
Red: "How does that GameBoy work"?

https://www.box.com/s/b3f69060bece058b8a70
Pink: "Can I also have my dress washed"?
Blue: "How about a number five"?
Red: "Must dad always sleep down there, when he's been to a nightclub"?
Yellow: "That'll teach you to stay clear of the altar-wine".
Green: "Why didn't you make a reservation"?

https://www.box.com/s/8ee09530800f9efef904
Pink: "You've got to hold yourself until the speeches are over".
Green: "Frederik has obviously been speaking Korean all day".
Blue: "That'll be one fun evening"!
Yellow: "Did you set the recorder for the soccer-match"?
Red: "Let's start with a karaoke-duet".

I actually laughed pretty hard at some of these...!!! But what were Joachim and Frederick doing in those pictures with Princess Marie doing all those grins? Everybody else seemed serious!!

You are welcome.

I vaguely remember reading something about this being caused by some less than flattering portraits in a folder Frederik and Joachim had been given.

You'll find more from this particular series of pictures here: Billed-Bladet - Prinsesse Marie samler brødrene

More especially selected "caption this".
Selected either because I think they are funny or because I like the pics.

"Yuck! - I hate that dog"!

#2:https://www.box.com/s/5ebb2d62209b45bba2e8

Bottom: "I told you to move from that bulldozer".

#3: https://www.box.com/s/416708333bde581c22fa
Left: "One of us better close the lid...".
Centre: "You pay up now! Got it"?
Right: "Paper beats rock. Come on, again"

#4: https://www.box.com/s/d1f49e3873e75f82d81f
Top: "That's what I call an honest reply"
Bottom: "That Dolly Parton concert made quite an impression".

Right: "Cool it! I'm still the chief".

#7: https://www.box.com/s/1d98c7560e9932519522
"Don't think they've found their sea-legs yet".

#8: https://www.box.com/s/a53c6adf5fe7e128bb79

#9: https://www.box.com/s/a8f427f02b863bea2410
Left: "Yeah, that may be acryl on canvas alright.... Call me when lunch is served".
Right: "Yes, that's how it is during a strike among photographers. - Just two seconds, I only need to draw the hair".
Bottom: "Do get yourselves a hotelroom"!

And my personal favorite.
#11: https://www.box.com/s/83eb66068eafb2038c6a
"Come on, Mulle. You do want your Morocco cushion, eh"?

- Inspired directly from this very mean scene in a movie called Zappa. You don't need to understand Danish to get the meaning.

Thanks Muhler - another round of laughs! And thanks for the article on the "funny faces". Most entertaining except for the South Korean officials who put together the folders...

Let's have some romance.
We need it on this grey day where autumn is knocking on the door.

Selected pics of the DRF from this gallery: https://picasaweb.google.com/1008659...RlighedGalleri

Mary and Frederik:

Joachim and our Marie.

QMII and Henri.

And in case you want to know, a kiss in Danish is "kys".
An alternative word could be a "nys", but that's more like a peck.
A really intensive kiss is a "tungeslasker".
