I think this belongs here :)

I went to TIVOLI today the 15th December 2012 with my lovely nephew and my wonderful parents to see THE NUTCRACKER :)

Along came:
HM The Queen of Denmark
HM The Queen of Greece
HRH The Crown Prince of Denmark
HRH The Crown Princess of Denmark
HRH The Crown Prince of Greece
HRH The Crown Princess of Greece
HRH Prince Christian
HRH Princess Isabella
HRH Princess Maria-Olympia
HRH Prince Odysseas-Kimon
HRH Aristides Stavros

And "The Greek Nanny" -
And the director of the ballet in Tivoli Peter Bo Bendixen

The numbers on the seats goes from seat 1 and seat 2 in the middle and then even numbers out to one side an uneven numbers to the other side.

So if you stand with you back to the stage the royals were seated like this from left to right: CPss Marie-Chantal (seat 6), P Odysseas-Kimon (seat 4), P Aristides-Stavros (seat 2), CP Pavlos (seat 1), Pss Maria-Olympia (seat 3), Q Anne-Marie (seat 5), Q Margrethe (seat 7), CP Frederik (seat 9), Pss Isabella (seat 11), Prince Christian (seat 13) and CPss Mary (seat 15).
During the first act they sat properly on the seats with their name on. But during the second act Prince Christian sat between the two youngest greek princes :) So wonderful to see how they enjoyed themselves :)

How very exciting! So nice to hear that Anne-Marie and her family came along too, and that Pavlos and Marie-Chantal are spending some time with Mary and Frederik. Am also especially loving "the Greek Nanny" :ROFLMAO:
On another note, was The Nutcracker good? Was it worth (all) the money? I had originally planned to go watch it this year as I love ballet, but didn't get around to buy ticket. I reckon they must be sold-out by now though.

It was soooooo exciting to see them coming in. Our queen hold hands with Christian and Isabella when entering to the second act.
Queen Anne-Marie poured in Christians hair when he was walking in front of her to get his seat between the two youngest greek princes.

Isn´t that funny? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: I didn´t see her, because in the second act Peter Bo Bendixen was seated next to CPss Marie-Chantal.

Aw, it must have been exciting for QMII to show off her work (again) to her grandchildren, it's also pretty evident that Christian and Bella now have reached a comfortable age for our dear Queen who don't feel quite at ease with babies and toddlers but prefer children who can 'think for themselves'

I wonder if Anne-Marie is spending Christmas here in Denmark, or if it was just a quick visit.

Do you know if "the Danish Nanny" was present too? :ROFLMAO:

Thank you for sharing FasterB.

Nice family outing with the extended family too.

How nice to know that Queen Anne Marie, and Pavlo´s family are in Kopenhagen as well. I love to see these meetings of extended families. And these two(Greek and Danish) are some of my very favourites.
Any pictures?

I would love to see some pictures too, but haven't found any...

I would so much have loved to take a photo of the royals when leaving, but my nephew said "No, Faster!" (Faster = Dads sister)

Thanks, FasterB :)

Hope you enjoyed the show as well.
I did enjoy the show as well, but it was so much more fun to look at Prince Christian and his grandcousins :whistling::p:whistling:

Thank you FasterB, for sharing your experience with us :flowers:
It will be exciting if you come in next week's magazines :p

I have also tried sitting right behind our royals (Mary, Christian and Isabella to the "Flying Superkids" show this summer) and it's always fun to see them in real life.

I hope you enjoyed the ballet.

Not sure in what thread to put this in, but since its both prince Henrik and CP Frederik, I'll put it here :flowers:

HRH Crown Prince participates in sailing competition "Prince Henrik Silver Trophy" in Hong Kong from 23 - 29 January.

Prince Henrik was listed as attending from the 22 to 29.

:previous: Thanks for keeping an eye on Frederik for us, Polyesco.

You won't happen to also know how he's doing?

The Royal website has an event yesterday for the Queen with Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attending. I think it is to do with the Navy.
Will there be photos or is this classed as a private event?

Sorry, I tried to link to the page but it just doesn't want to work.:flowers:

I can't seem to find the link with pictures but here is a summary of the event
read it here

Yes, that's the dinner for officers in the navy, commodores and up, who have also recieved an order for honorable service.

The order/medal was started in 1801, when the government feared they couldn't keep the skilled workers and craftmen at the naval yard. So in order to keep those people around, who were essential for building and maintaining warships they could get an order after a certain time of service.

This was during the Napoleonic wars and skilled craftsmen who were specialists in warships were in very high demand and they could get a very high salary. Not least Britain had an almost insatiable appetite for shipbuilders.

Nowadays you get the order after 25 years of service in the navy. Admirals and commodores almost all have 25 years of service behind them and they are so high up the ranks that dining with the Monarch is hardly a novelty.

Dazzling, Thanks for posting the link.

Muhler, Thanks for the information it is always great to the extra details.

I do hope there will be photos of the Naval Officers receiving there medals

They already have their medals. This is a dinner for people who have already served in the navy for at least 25 years - and who has reached the ranks of commodore and up.

Next year there will be a similar dinner for officers in the army of the airforce. That at least is how I understood the background info of the DRF-site.

If I am not mistaken, there have been no photos from this event in the past years.

Oh I see, in that case we won't see photos of the dinner if they already have the medals.

Thanks for the pics. :flowers:

Let's have a closer look at some of the very HQ pics, shall we?

https://www.box.com/s/ws01shcts0v36w4v6sqs Here our Marie is being decorated for good service/conduct by the manager of DEMA/Civil Defence Henning Thiesen. - Even though his official title is manager, he holds a rank equivalent to lieutenant general. Marie appears to have been promoted, she holds the rank equivalent to first lieutenant.
The decoration is actually deserved as DEMA has gotten a good deal more press since Marie joined - apart from when they are actually called out. Hopefully this will attract more female members.
The Home Guard, which Mary is a member of, has had a considerable influx of new female members over the past years. Not only because of Mary though.
The other ribbons Marie is wearing are the Order of the Elephant and the Grand Cross of the Order of Dannebrog. Easy to recognice because they are distinctly light blue.

Notice Marie's LiW, Britt Siesbye in the background. Also in DEMA uniform, but she is only a private.
Caroline Heering, who has accompanied Mary in the Army Home Guard, has the same rank as Mary, second lieutenant.

Since DEMA became a part of the Total Defence, which include rescue services, law enforcement, military, Home Guard and so on, it has become much more uniformed. Earlier when the official name was the Civil Defence, it was under the Ministry of Interior, rather than the Ministry of Defence, as it is now.
From left to right we have la charmant Marie, QMII, what I presume is the local column commander - equivalent to full colonel, the manager of DEMA and the Minister of Defence Nick Hækkerup.
In the background we can see that QMII brought no less than two guards adjutants with her.

PET are there as well, but more relaxed than yesterday. Where a PET officer fell victim of a tomato hurled at the Prime Minister. 1st May did indeed become very hot for the government!

I've enjoyed seeing these two attending an event together, would be great if there were more of these Marie-Margrethe or Mary-Margrethe events!

This for example is a wonderful pic!

So do I. - And Mary/Marie + Henrik too. That would almost with guarantee be funny.

It sure is a nice pic and now we can better see what decorations our Marie is wearing.
The ribbons are from top: The Order of the Elephant, not entirely sure but almost certainly the Grand Cross of the Order of Dannebrog. (I understand that ribbon is normally red and white, but royals are different).
Bottom from our left: The Commemoration Medal for QMII's 40th jubilee, Commemoration Medal for QMII's 70th birthday and I can't see the last but a very qualified guess would be The Commemoration Medal for the 75th birthday of the Prince Consort.
Marie is not yet wearing the ribbon for the Civil Defence order. - That is going to be red and white and usually you only get it after 25 years of service, but royals are different.

great outing for margrethe and marie!
i am in love with marie wearing her uniform and saluting. she looks fantastic.
