It has been my pleasure to look at all nice photos posted in this thread. I think that Queen Margrethe II is the only Queen, who does superb job of wearing furs. I like the fact that she recycles her court dress annually. Crown Princess Mary looked all right. However, the headpiece stood out awkwardly ... in my personal opinion.

No, it was made by a man: Uffe Frank. He designed the red dress for her engagement period and her wedding dress as well.

We can accept the same male uniform year in and out - surely we can accept the same for the female royal members
If I remember correctly, HM's yellow brocade Russian style court dress was in use for about 8-10 years on end. What is left of it has probably ended up as a costume for one of Mrs. H.'s ballet performances!

To those of you who "moan" about the recurring dresses :
UserDane is absolutely correct!
The New Year's Court receptions are official and formal affairs and that's reflected in the royal dresses. This is not an occasion for showing off the latest fashion fads; it's about authority, and that's why the royal ladies, and HM in particular have opted for the uniform-like garment.

My first thought was Uffe Frank and I've posted first that it was by Uffe Frank, but then I remembered that I've read that it was designed by MB.
It was in Billed-Bladet in September 2008: Billed-Bladet - Designer bag Mary og Maries kjoler stormer frem
But of course that information could be wrong....

Today's carriage tour was really lovely. I loved their carriage. It reminds me of something from a fairytale.

Me to. I love this event. I am a citizen of Copenhagen and at this time of year the city is just grey and dark and the light hours during a day are so few.

BUT then comes this event - and it is fairytale time once again in Copenhagen .

i used the google translate site so some words don't translate to english but the gist of the piece is, princess mary must appear perfect in public and she didn't disappoint at the New Years events.

Google Translate

Here is everything we have with scintillating Mary of the fine nytårstaffel at the palace.

There are now high expectations on Crown Princess Mary's shoulders when she appears in public, but she is able to honor them every time. It was very much the case the day after New Year's Eve, as it distinguished and tradition-rich nytårstaffel held at Amalienborg.

Users of the IMAGE-LEAVED site has a uhøjtidelig vote chosen Mary as scant win the title ahead of ballets Queen Princess Marie
