This may well be: at another French-speaking royalty blog I follow she is often referred to as "pretentious". I mean she's a queen consort, married to a head of state, there's nothing wrong with a little decorum at court.

I remember some years ago the DRF documentary showed how everyone lined up ready to greet the royals at the terminal
 
I love tiara events and so am enjoying the clips, photos links to this immensely. Thankyou to all who posted them. I do agree that the nine provinces tiara probably won the bling award but IMHO I think all the Royal ladies looked lovely. I enjoyed seeing Queen Margrethe beaming away between the King and Queen. She's terrific at these events, very warm and welcoming, even without her spouse. I thought she too looked great in her lace and jewels.
 
Does anyone know the reason why the Danes wear their sash from the right shoulder to the left side of the waist and the Belgians from the left shoulder to the right side of the waist?
Is it determined by order, country, visiting/home or random?

It's determined by the order. The Belgian King and Queen wear the order of the Elephant. The sash of this order is placed on the left shoulder, with the elephant resting on the right hip. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_the_Elephant

Ha ha ha ... I think ultimately the big difference is that in the low countries we don't have the same tradition of galas and speeches that DK is used to. I also think politicians and CEOs see this as a business opportunity (which it is of course) and have no sense of decorum. Belgian royals always have to thread carefully because of the constant never-ending scrutiny and (unfair) criticism they are subject to by different political parties/language communities. Boasting with palaces, dresses and diamonds would quickly turn the castle of Laken into a luxury real estate opportunity for developers... I guess their delicate situation is comparable to that of Felipe & Letizia. Compared to them the Danish royals lead a comfortable life in a country that isn't overly critical for its royals.

What a nice gesture by the King! Ever the gentleman.
The Crown Princess withdrew her hand when she saw the King going ahead for the handshake and he quickly withdrew his so she could go first!

It's pretty - but not as pretty as that Borgen actress yesterday :)

I thought Mary's daytime outfit looked a little odd today. Especially with the scarf, and so many purple items that don't really match. Unlike picture perfect Mary. So I was thinking... Since the scarf looks very "DVF" to me and this being one of Mathilde's go to brands... Could it have been a gift from Mathilde to Mary - who decided to wear it immediately and combined it with other items of the same colour?

Just a speculation of course.
