Such a pity it was such bad weather, but the spirit and mood were indeed very high - especially at the children ?

Another reason to like him...

Indeed.
And it was when the bagpipes played we saw Josephine rocking away.

It came out a bit disorganized this year IMO. Probably because this is the first time QMII and the CP-family is there at the same time and I also think the organizers behind the ring-riders were taken a little aback.
The bit where adult riders presented flowers to QMII and a couple to Mary as well, worked fine.
But then, understandably, it became messy.
There were at least a couple of occasions where one royal thought the flowers were for him/her but wasn't. And the riders were also a bit confused, who to present the flowers to with two or three royal hands out there?
I noticed at some point Isabella was the only one who did not get a bouquet. She was likely missed in the confusion.
And the boys were very much reduced to props. Christian don't care about flowers, but Vincent clearly appreciated getting a bouquet or two.

Also, this system will be even more confusing if Joachim's children are present as well. Imagine two very lively Princesses in the shape of Josephine and Athena all over the place!

So a little rethink is needed.

On the other hand the photos of all of them were much more natural, because all are doing something or focusing on something. - Instead of standing there thinking: What the holy cow are we going to do with ourselves for the next ten minutes?

---------

You may have noticed that a couple of the riders got a special warm greeting by Mary. They were apparently girls whom Josephine and Isabella had gotten to know well while riding at the local riding club.

Looks like there was lovely summer weather in Denmark for the horseshow ,hope no one got too wet!

So this was the photoshoot for this year? If so that's a pity because it seems to be attached to some kind of event.
I love seeing this family out and about, they could do so much better and more professional.

WA & Maxima have done the best shoot for this year so far, all other royals should take note how to do it!

I agree. This needs a bit of working on.

Vincent really want those red flowers.... but no, farmor took them :D
I think also this event should be left to the CP-family like last year. This year seems a bit messy, and the children looked long after some flowers to them.

Yes, it seemed a bit disorganized, but you have to give the DRF credit for not cancelling their appearance because of the weather. As for QM, rain and damp is not good for osteoarthritis, but she didn't let that stop her. She just put on her cheerful rain gear and carried on. :flowers: :flowers: :flowers:

I enjoyed this event very much. Rain or shine the kids and the adults looked like they had a great time greeting the horses and riders. And with things going on, we got more natural interactions then the family just standing getting their picture taken.
They might have decided to combine this year's photoshoot with this event, if Joachim, for example was not going to stop by like in the previous years. Having two photo options so close together with the same members might have been too much. Plus I'm sure the CP family might want to vacation elsewhere for a few days.
They enjoy Grasten and horseback riding , but they might have plans to go to the beach too.
It was nice seeing Isabella and Josephine excited for the flowers, but also Vincent too. Christian did not seem to mind no flowers but enjoyed watching the riders.

It's a shame that the weather was so bad; since I would have loved to have seen the traditional photoshoot in the gardens. Still, these photos were wonderful and it was great to see the family again. Isabella has gotten so grown up! Vincent has changed a lot as well; he's a very sweet little boy.

What a shame about the weather and c! Grants to them for keeping it going. What a lovely, natural family. Mary could have worn a more practical outfit

What a delightful day, rain and all made it confusing yet it made it more natural for the family to relax and just enjoy each other and all the people that came out. What I liked is that there was no formality to this event, come as you are and enjoy the horses and people, give flowers to everyone and let the children play. Just be yourself today is the motto!

I so love that rain coat of Queen Daisy, just get rid of the pockets or make them the same color as the coat and that coat is mine, I have sneakers that would go with that coat very well.

This lady, Queen Daisy is such a happy woman for she looks like she is really enjoying the day, rain and all. The interaction between Queen Daisy and Mary shows that they have a loving relationship between them. I love rainy days for it makes the earth fresh and clean and everything becomes more green in the sun.

Thank you to everyone for all the pictures and videos for us to enjoy. That is one place I would so love to visit someday.:flowers:

:previous: I admired the way everyone just carried on regardless of the rain which, at times, bucketed down. I don't think anyone smiled less or enjoyed themselves less because of the rain. And lovely to see Daisy's Holiday raincoat and matching hat. I really don't know what the holdup is . . . I wrote and told her it was mine years ago. ;)

I also admire Daisy's acceptance of her limitations and someone trails behind with a folding chair and cushion. But it seems that her condition is progressing and will limit her more and more, but with scenes like that, it doesn't matter as it makes no difference.

Over 12.000 thousands of likes and nice comments on TV2 News Facebook to always dancing Isabella and Josephine :D

A great TV2 article: New tones in Gråsten - is the Crown Prince Couple starting a tradition?
Nye toner i Gråsten - er kronprinsparret ved at starte en tradition? - TV 2

Chief editor of the Billedbladet, Annemette Krakau, believes that the Crown Prince couple are starting a new tradition.

- Last summer, the summer photo session lasted two minutes and took place on a windblown staircase. They came out and then they went back in. This year it lasted a more than a half an hour. I think it was great to see the Crown Prince family together with Queen Margrethe and as part of this festival in Gråsten, she says, and continues:

- I have a feeling that it is a new tradition they are starting. It is completely in line with Queen Ingrid and King Frederik at their time, who also made a big deal out of being in contact with the Southern Jutland's people, the traditions and being part of the cityscape.

The editorial editor hopes that in the future this will happen again. In this way where the royal family give them good time to be part of the local events.

- It's a super signal they send by being part of the People's Party, says Annemette Kraków.

ADDED:
I very much agree. This way is much better, funnier and more natural than those set photo session ?

Thanks to Roskilde, Muhler, polyesco and the others who have posted videos/pictures and articles!

Christian is handsome and smiling , much better than Sverre Magnus.
Sverre Magnus is another type, but there is a difference between this and standing at the door at Skaugum and then on the balcony in Oslo for several hours on May. 17th. And I don't think this is a competition about smiling and handsomeness between two eleven-year-old boys.

Wow, thanks to everyone who contributed coverage of the event! The pictures and videos were fun to go through. I love how all the family members present, from Margrethe on down to the twins, are comfortable and having a great time despite, or maybe because of, the slightly chaotic nature of the event, (someone shattered a bottle of wine)!?

The kids are happy and fun loving without getting out of control or playing to the cameras. And they're not nervous or uncomfortable being the focus of attention, despite some of them being more naturally outgoing than others. As related to the discussion in one of the British threads, I think if William and Catherine were looking for role models for how to introduce their children to royal life they could do worse than emulating Frederick and Mary's overall approach. They've struck a nice middle ground between too much coverage and attention on one hand and hiding the children away on the other.

A modern Crown Prince family with four children has moved into Gråsten Castle. It looks very cute with the official Crown Prince's flag on the flagpole and then a bouncy castle with cartoon character as contrast :D:D

I remember a Danish journalist who was very critical towards the Danish monarchy. She criticized everything by the monarchy and its members. But she admitted that she though Frederik and Mary were fantastic to be parents and that she admired the way they were parents to a royal child.

And I totally agree. And I can also see it is why so many love F&M's children. They are well-behaved children, but at the same time so free, happy, natural, harmonious children full of life and personality. And they seem very confident. In spite of especially Christian's role, he has from the very start seemed to be born for his role. A confident, relaxed and happy boy.

Now that is a cute picture ;) royal or not, a bouncy castle is always fun. The family looks to have a nice, relaxing and fun summer so far in Grasten. Horseback riding, bike rides and jumping in bouncy castles.

Was them attending the horse parade this years photo shoot or will there be another one with more family members?

We can hope Joachim and our Marie will make a similar shoot, probably somewhere in France. That's happened often before when they haven't been there for the Gråsten photo shoot.
