Following the norms of the Royal/Archducal family, Amedeo must be strictly Catholic ...

I may be wrong too .. Have we heard of any other young royal whose not that religiously Catholic?

I think of all the Royal Families in Catholic Europe, the Belgians are probably the most observant, followed by Luxembourg and Spain.

The Monaco Royals have always struck me me as Catholic only in name, particularly Prince Albert and Princess Stephanie, which is rather sad. Neither Charlotte, Andrea nor Pierre come across as very religious either.

But I could be wrong.

I think Amedeo is very handsome but I prefer him with shorter hair, he looked absolutely gorgeous in his military times!

Yes, ge did. But he´s even more handsome with a little longer hair
(like almost every young man...). I think if someone has this curly and thick hair like Amedeo has, it would be a "crime" to cut it off instead of showing it

I find it truly remarkable how popular prince Amadeo seems to be.
I'm a Belgian and i've known him ever since i'm a little girl (not personally).
I never thought that people in other countries would know about him, but this forum proves me wrong. Anyway, i think it is great though hehe, finally a good thing in the eye of the public about our country.

What i wanted to say:
If anyone ever needs help on translating dutch articles or help with dutch (or french) websites about the prince or the royal family, just send me a pm and i'd be happy to help you out.

Hi flctylu! and thank you very much.

To answer your question: Prince Amadeo doesn't make the news in Belgium as much as some other Belgian royals (as the king and queen, Mathilde & philippe, Laurent, ..), I study for journalist so I have to follow the news very good, and he really doesn't make it alot. That's why i think that not everyone will know who he is, especially not for the youngsters among us. I've asked some friends, and alot of them say they don't know him (when I only give them his name) but when i show his picture, it seems that suddenly they recognize him, they recall seeing him on television or in magazines. So i guess that most of the young people know Amadeo by seeing him somewhere.

His mother, princess Astrid is more known. And i'm very sure that of all the kids that she has, Prince Amadeo is the one that is best known.
Of course alot of girls here like him too, but it's not that there is a sort of "hype" going on. (like you see with Prince William from the UK for example).

I don't know people who have met him. I have seen some of the royals in the past, but i'm not sure if Amadeo is one of them because I was young at the time.
I do know that his grandmother, queen Paola, visited my mother when she was in the hospital once, she was there to visit the patients so my mom got lucky.

Well even though they are "Grand Ducal" they still are royalty in a way, so I personally call them royalty. But let's not get off topic...

Amedeo was so cute as a kid. I loved the bit when he was wearing a green coat, holding a balloon, singing [was it in french?] . The video was a reward for a long, boring, exausting [got sun burnt in 36C heat] Biology camp that I had to go on to pass Bio.
Conspiracy "[ex]girlfriend" theory here :
You know the bit at the end where he gets a baret [french word for hat] from an army officer, he looks over into the crowd and there is a shoot of a girl who he, Amedeo, smiles at - evidence: a couple of years ago there was a photoshoot of Amedeo at a ball at the Royal Military Academy. I remeber there was a photo of a girl who looked a lot like the girl in the clip that Amedeo smiles at. The girl was beside Amedeo with her arm around his arm - Amedeo and the girl had a smile on their faces. Astrid was talking to another girl [the second closest girl to Amedeo] and they were giggling and smiling.

Do you guys think that Amedeo is close to Laeticia-Maria. Like, you've seen the footage of Amedeo and Laura and Joachim together and wonder whether he has a close relationship with his youngest sister - Amedeo was doing his IB in London, came back for the birth of his little sister, went back and graduated and now is doing his undergraduate studies in London, England. I guess he doesn't have much time to go back and forth and visit his family.

PS: Great idea to create a sub-forum for Princess Astrid's family. It's much easier to find threads.

does anyone know what amedeo was doing the exam for? was it for school or was it just a 16 page exam about military stuff?

sorry, didn't mean 2 offend u or anything. i was just saying that the 2 girls aren't the same. then again it's just my opinion. i really wouldn't like the fact that he's taken. i like my prince charming single.
n i know how stressing biology can be, that's why i didn't take it.

According to article 2 [babel fish translator]:
-Amedeo, Joachim, Laura, Laeticia, Luisa speak french at home to Lorenz and Astrid.
-Astrid was the person behind the decision to send Amedeo to Sint-Jan Berchman, so Amedeo could learn dutch.
and well most of the translation didn't make much sense, but Amedeo apprantly
-got rid of tennis shoes at Sint-Jan Berchman before he left and the kids attending there today thank/praise Amedeo for doing so.
