On March 23, 2012 Queen Paola attended the opening concert of the "Printemps musical de Silly 2012" (a biennial for young musicians which is dedicated to Italian music this year) at the castle of Morval in Gondregnies:

King Albert received the organization team of the Expo 2017 in Liege at the Royal Castle in Laken today, March 27.

King Albert and Queen Paola received Belgian living jazz legend Baron Toots Thielemans, who'll celebrate
his 90th birthday on April 29, at the Royal Castle in Laeken, Brussels, today, April 23, 2012.
Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo and Toots Thielemans' wife were present as well.

The Queen of the Belgians comparing to the other Queens is seen once a month 23/3 .

Quite funny news -like several other royals Queen Paola will be honoured with a pizza named after her during the world pizza days in Naples*:

I can already picture the queen, as a gifted cook, trying out this new recipe in order to surprise e.g. her beloved grandchildren :chef:...
*whose organizers didn't formally ask for a permission regarding their naming decision, as spokesman Pierre-Emmanuel De Bauw complained. However, Belgium's royal family doesn't intend to take action against the pizza in question: Koningin niet blij met (May 22, 2012)

Well, they didn't ask her before making the decision, so in the end I guess the Palace and Queen Paola didn't want to spoil their enjoyment of it ;)


King Albert today also met with Horst Seehofer, current President of the Federal Council of Germany.

Well if you can have Pizza Margherita named after an Italian Queen why not Pizza Paola named after an Italian born Queen of the Belgians.:)

The owners of the restaurant "Il Daino" in Oud-Herverlee (Belgium) claim a patent for their "pizza Paola" invented in 1999. Back then, after having informed the royal court, they handed over their creation in Laeken and finally received a thank you letter from King Albert and Queen Paola:

Today, June 12, King Albert attended the inauguration ceremony of the new headquarters of the Alliance Francaise
Brussels-Europe cultural and learning center in Brussels.

at the Koninklijke Muntschouwburg - Theatre Royale de la Monnaie in Brussels.

Today, June 13, King Albert has handed out the "Francqui Prize 2012" to Conny Aerts from the KU Leuven university.
The scientific prize, which is often referred to as the 'Belgian Nobel Prize', is awarded by The Francqui Foundation
and is worth 250.000 euros.
