Thanks to everyone who posted the wonderful pictures of Mathilde in Copenhagen :). I watched the news that day, but non of the channels had anything about her visit :(, so then it's really great to see all the pictures that are posted here :).

you must like mabel too, considering you have her picture near your name and
I can not think of 2 people less alike than Mabel and Mathilde
Don't you know that variety is the spice of life?
Does everyone have to like the same type of people only? You can like different kinds of people for different reasons.
What is the problem if I like Mabel AND Mathilde even if they are both different?

Prince Philippe, eldest son of King Albert II and Queen Paola, is the first in line of succession to the throne and as such, bears the title of Duke of Brabant.

Prince Philippe Leopold Louis Marie was born in Brussels on 15 April 1960.

After completing his secondary education, in Dutch and French, the Prince attended courses at the Royal Military Academy from 1978 to 1981, with the 118th All-arms Graduating Class. After that, he spent two months at Trinity College, Oxford University (United Kingdom), and continued his university studies from September 1983 at the Graduate School of the University of Stanford in California (USA). On 16 June 1985, he received a "Master of Arts" degree in Politics.

After being appointed as a Second Lieutenant in 1980, the Prince obtained in succession his fighter pilot's wings and his certificates as a parachutist and a commando. He carried out his solo flight on board a Mirage VB aircraft and commanded a platoon of the 3rd Parachute Battalion. In 1989, the Prince attended a series of special sessions at the Royal Higher Defence Institute. The same year, he was promoted to Colonel. As a Captain, the Prince also sailed with ships of the Belgian Navy. On 25 March 2001, the Prince was appointed as Major-General and Rear-Admiral. He maintains close contacts with the Armed Forces and keeps himself informed about morale, material and technology during visits to units and headquarters, both national and international, in Belgium and abroad.

In 1992, the Household of Prince Philippe was set up. This Household (which currently bears the name of the Household of the Dukes of Brabant) encompasses the staff and the services at the Prince's disposal for carrying out his many engagements. The Prince has his own allowance.

Shortly after the death of King Baudouin, his uncle, the Prince accepted the Honorary Presidency of the Board of Directors of the Belgian Foreign Trade Office, pursuant to a decision by the Council of Ministers on 6 August 1993. In this function, he succeeded his father, who had held the position since 1962.

Prince Philippe also exercises various responsibilities in the field of sustainable development. From 13 October 1993 to the beginning of May 1997, He was President of the National Sustainable Development Council which was set up following the Rio Conference on the environment and sustainable development. When, in May 1997, this Council was converted into the Federal Sustainable Development Council under a new law, he accepted the Honorary Presidency.

On 21 June 1994, the Prince took the oath as a Senator by right.

Apart from the tasks relating to protocol and representation which are inherent in the function of the Crown Prince, the Duke of Brabant pays particular attention to other areas.

Princess Mathilde is very concerned about the plight of vulnerable persons, particularly children. In this context, the " Princess Mathilde Fund " was set up in December 2000. The fund identifies projects that are likely to improve the situation of vulnerable persons and awards an annual prize to the most laudable projects. In addition, Princess Mathilde grants her High Patronage to several associations working with vulnerable persons. Educational problems are one of the Princess's key concerns. As a member of the Belgian delegation, Princess Mathilde took part in May 2002 in the major United Nations Conference on Children's Rights.

Princess Mathilde regularly accompanies Prince Philippe on missions abroad to enhance the image of Belgium and the commercial and economic interests of our country. Such missions have been organised to Hong Kong, New York, Seoul, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo and Santiago de Chile; more recently, there have been missions to Australia, New Zealand and California.

Princess Mathilde has undertaken numerous trips to countries such as India, China, Peru, Bolivia, Mexico, Guatemala.

She likes modern music and classical music, and plays the piano. The Princess plays tennis and swims, and is enthusiastic about the countryside and outdoor activities. She loves literature.

Apart from Dutch and French, she speaks English and Italian fluently.

Princess Mathilde became Princess of Belgium on 4 December 1999, when she married Prince Philippe.

The couple have a daughter, Princess Elisabeth, born on 25 October 2001 and a son, Prince Gabriel, born on 20 August 2003.

These pictures are wonderful! Thank you, Catherine. It seems that Phillipe and Mathilde have been out and about somewhat less than usual recently. Do you know why? Have there been any national holidays recently? Or perhaps I am wrong.

I hope they keep it up! I've just recently become fascinated with her!

I just love her clothes, she's so elegant, it just makes me sick. I'm a bit more along the Bridget Jones line myself!

These last week or so of pictures have been terrific, thanks for posting everyone!

Well Philippe had more engagements, but there aren't any photos. A photo of Philippe at a business meeting or visiting a company, is of course not as glamorous as pictures of his wife :)

I think Mathilde just needs a few days rest. She travelled to New York, immediately afterwards to China for 10 days and a few days later she was in Copenhagen. I can imagine she wants a bit of time with her two small children.

But you'll certainly be seeing more of her before christmas. There's the traditional christmas concert in the royal palace, and a bit later Paola, Mathilde and Claire have an engagement together!

Thank you for your response. Yes, her schedule has been quite punishing and a rest does seem due. I'll look forward to seeing photos of the engagements you mentioned.

Wow, I love her outfit paired with the boots. She looks elegant, stylish, and lovely as usual.

Mathilde has looked really great at the occasions during the last couple of days :D We love her outfits!

I don't understand the people who say she is "dull" in her manner of dress. While she is conservative, I don't comprehend why that is a fashion-crime to some people? Her clothing is of the moment, but conservative; she looks consitently lovely and dresses to suit her personality as well as her position.

Wow, Mathilde certainly looks smashing in that red thing at the Christmas concert! She's just so radiant! Halleluja! :)

The jacket makes her look like she doesn't have a neck. Especially the fur thing around the collar.
