It has become a "rite of passage" for all the royals (crown princes and crown princesses) to take a study course in the USA at some prestigious institution, and some have also taken degrees.

Is it true that Phillippe went to Stanford, and how did he do ?

oh ... I just read the other day about princes who have studied in the USA.

There was a reference to Phillippe, which I assumed to be the Crown Prince of Belgium, by a method of elimination :
- Prince Philip of Sweden is doing at the moment his first studies in Sweden,
- Prince Philip of England probably didn't go outside Europe,
- Prince Felipe of Spain has a different spelling, so I assumed it wasn't him.

Even though Felipe of Spain is spelt differently than Phillippe of Belgium, the Spanish prince did study in the United States, at Georgetown at the same time as his cousin Pavlos. So the article could very well have meant Felipe of Spain, but just spelt his name wrong. I haven't heard of Phillippe of Belgium studying in the U.S. however.

Phillippe of Belgium apparently went to Stanford and didn't do so well. (I wonder now though if they meant Stamford, although imo Stanford is of a far higher quality than Stamford)

Actually no one knows. At their engagement, Philippe told the press that he they didn't want them to know how they met, he said they wanted it to stay a little secret, that belongs to their private life.

There have of course been various speculations in the press: they could have met at parties held by the Belgian aristocracy, or at a tennis game. there's also the story that someone presented Mathilde to Philippe in Italy, but Philippe officially denied that one.

How great for them that Phillippe and Mathilde have claimed a bit of privacy for themselves, that no one but they and their loved ones know! In this age of public figures, and well, anybody who can get themselves on camera, telling all and spilling everything about themselves, it's nice - and totally refreshing - to see public figures who are reserving some things.

I always knew there was a romantic beneath that neutral and sometimes gruff looking appearance of Phillippe's!

this combination is terrible! this galathing can't be one of natan's . also her hair and make-up have been better than this occasion.
Mathilde can be very beautiful but this outfit has get very bad points from the jury
