Belgium's Crown Prince Philippe arrives at the Petrus Jozef Triest
nursing home in Melle August 8, 2009. A fire killed nine pensioners
at the nursing home in the northeastern Belgian village of Melle on
Thursday. The two girls on pic 4 helped rescuers to evacuate
residents during the blast.

The event is too sad to mention such minor matters, but Prince
Philippe's new summer look is quite eye catching..

Thanks for an update on Crown Prince Philippe's activities!
It is sad to learn about the fire that claimed lives of elderly people. The girls should be lauded for their rescue efforts. On a lighter note ...I have to say that his summer look does not look appealing to me.

Belga Pictures gallery here.

It's a very sad event, I'm glad to see the prince came back from his holiday to show his support.

I'm not sure about his new look though.

Here's also a small article in English, and the more extended version in Dutch.

What a tragic, horrible thing! I am glad that Philipe came back to lend his support and to honor the rescuers.

Very sad indeed and Philippe did the right thing coming back. Good for him!

The girls he was talking to are real heroes

How terribly sad indeed! What a nightmare. Good that the prince came back to show some support.

Good for the prince. But the new look makes him look, well, old.

such sad news. i hope this emphasizes the need for more fire security. it's such a tragedy.

Hearing about the fire is a sad, tragic news. It's nice to see him to show some support. His new beard makes him a bit old.

Such a sad event. I am glad that Philippe came off his holiday to visit the two girls. I don't find the Princes new summer look very catching. :whistling:

What lovely photos! Is this the first time that Mathilde and Victoria have had an official visit together?

I don't think they have done that many events together yet, but they may have more in the near future, as Sweden and Belgium are joint in presiding the EU for a year.

Thank you for answering my question, LadyLeana! Was this outing taken as a way to highlight the new relationship? Is that the reason for Victoria's visit?

Thanks for photos! :flowers:I have been pleasantly surprised to see Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden undertaking an engagement in Belgium. I just wonder what language Crown Princely couple uses to communicate with Crown Princess Victoria... English ... perhaps.

Well, they were both there because of some conference organized by Sweden, if I'm correct. I have to check details.

I believe they use English among each other, Al_Bina. They showed a video on the news, and one of the princesses said just one sentence but it was in English.

Thank you for the pictures and a video, Paty, Turkish Delight and Stephanievl. It's nice to see Princess Victoria, Princess Mathilde and Prince Phillipe together.:flowers:

LadyLeana,
Thanks for the information!:flowers: The ubiquitous English language is a usual means of international communication.
Crown Princess Mathilde seems to have her agenda full after summer holiday.

Princess Mathilde visited “La Maison Ouverte” (The Open House)
in Marchienne-au-Pont (Charleroi), Belgium, September 16, 2009.

The visit is placed under the sign of the fight against infantile poverty.
The Open House welcomes children from 0 to 3 years and their parents
and is trying to get these families out of their isolation and their social
and emotional poverty.
