I just saw an item on tv about Belgian chocolatier Pierre Marcolini, who counts many royals among his customers. The presentor asked the chocolatier what the weirdest thing was he ever got ordered. He said it was a birthday cake for princess Mathilde. The cake was quite a normal chocolate cake, but at the last moment it disappeared. At Marcolini they thought it had already been collected by someone from the palace, so they phoned them to say they had forgotten the raspberry sauce...but no cake had arrived at the palace, so in great hurry a new one was made :)
They also made the wedding cake for Philippe & Mathilde. Apparently it was king Albert who "designed" it, with things that reminded him of his childhood (nothing was specified).
For Astrid & Lorenz's wedding they made a cake with orange flavored chocolate inside.
And princess Máxima and prince Willem-Alexander are also regular clients, they often stop at the shop in Brussels to buy something, and had the baptism sugar for Amalia's birth made there.

Sounds like a shop I would enjoy since I love chocolate. Have any of you been to the store? What is it like? And I wonder what ever did happen to that cake for Mathilde --?

Nobody ever found out what happened to the cake...my guess is someone ate it, that's what I would do if no-one was watching :)
Yes, I've been to Pierre Marcolini, it's like heaven, that's the best way to describe it :)

Caceres
The princes of Belgium, surprised by the monumental beauty of Cáceres
(Felipe of Belgium and his wife, Matilde, have taken a walk next to the princes of Bulgaria by the Monumental City Also have visited Mérida, invited by the Oriol family)
The inheriting prince of Belgium, Felipe, and their wife, Matilde, are surprised by the monumental beauty of Cáceres, its surroundings and the extension of the frontier fields. Thus the granddaughter of Lucas de Oriol and Urquijo confirmed yesterday, Maria, host of the members of the Belgian real house during her tourist visit, of several days, to the Easter cacereña. A visit to that the princes Konstantin of Bulgaria and its woman have gotten up themselves, the Spanish Maria Garci'a of the Rasilla.
All of them were let see in the evening yesterday in the Wide street, place where the Ricó, whose present proprietor is nailed the House of Diego Garci'a de Ulloa ' she is the daughter of Lucas de Oriol and Urquijo, Pillar of Oriol. The real visitors and their hosts lowered of their cars on the seven and quarter of afternoon. Prote'ge's by a ten did of escorts and before the peculiar glance of the tourists who then took a walk by the environs of San Mateo.
The princes spent all the morning and leaves from afternoon in the field, foreseeably in the property that the Oriol family has in the Mountain range of San Pedro, the Cobacha de Castellanos, located to 38 kilometers of the capital cacereña, in the highway that unites Cáceres with Badajoz.
They did not want photos. The reason, to avoid to wake up the interest of paparazzis. However, the princes of Belgium have given to the touching cacereños and costumbristas stamps during the time of Passion.

They are accompanied of the Prince Konstantin of Bulgaria and Maria García de la Rasilla. It seems that the Bulgarian princes have turned into hosts of different European Princes. Those of Preslav with the Norwegian Princes and those of Vidin with the Belgians.

you got that right, lula.
Seems like the Bulgarian Princes are the Ambassadors of Spain. In Palma de Mallorca, they've Kyril & Rosario, while in here, it was Konstantin & Maria Garcia.

It was a fun-filled weekend for royal youngsters at opposite ends of the world, as the young princes and princesses of Belgium and Japan enjoyed some quality time with their loved ones. While little Princess Aiko sat in between her parents during a concert at her new school in Tokyo, Prince Philippe and his wife Princess Mathilde were spotted with their children, Elisabeth, Gabriel and Emmanuel, at the Holy Week processions in Spain.

Many miles away in Europe, meanwhile, the Belgian royals were likewise taking in a musical performance. The brass bands accompanying giant religious floats through the streets of Caceres made for rather more sombre listening, but the family was clearly enjoying the colourful view from their balcony.
Elisabeth, five, stood alongside her three-year-old brother Gabriel, while the newest member of the family, baby Emmanuel, snuggled in his mother's arms. The family's old friend, Prince Constantin of Liechtenstein, was also there to witness the spectacle, along with his pretty wife Countess Maria and their children Moritz and Georgina.
