Perhaps she a friend or a member of his staff. I wouldn't worry about her. Were she a mistress of his, he wouldn't have invited her to have lunch outside a famous Paris restaurant.;)

Does anyone have any details on Princess Caroline and Prince Ernst August's recent visit to Libya? I saw press reports with pictures of them meeting with Gaddafi, but didn't understand the purpose of the visit. I thought that it might have to do with AMADE, but when I went to their website, I found no reference to the trip. Thanks.

I went back and found the news story that I am referencing. Here is the link with a picture.

Libya?! Wow! Let's face it: this Princess is a Woman ( in capital W ); considering that Libya isn't probabily the easiest country to visit ( in diplomatic terms ) she shows great courage in going there... And she even managed to drag Ernst with her!!!!!

Here's another article about their visit to Libya:

Libyan Leader receives Princess Caroline Grimaldi

The Leader of the Libyan Revolution received Friday evening Princess Caroline Grimaldi, the sister of the Prince of Monaco, and her husband, who are on a visit to Libya.

During the meeting Princess Caroline expressed gratitude and appreciation for the warm reception during their stay in Libya.

What possible reason could they have for visiting Libya? I can't imagine that she is there in any official capacity.

Maybe they are visiting Libya as part of an AMADE tour - or Libya is being tentatively considered to receive AMADE charitable efforts and monies?

If it's a private visit Princess Caroline should make it clear, but to meet Kaddafi and all the PR surrounding it, lends one to believe it was an official visit. If it was for AMADE that should have been made very clear that it was strickly for humanitarian reasons. At the moment it doesn't look very wise. I hope the palace will clarify the situation. Inviting a dictator to visit Monaco is not wise under any circumstances. It just looks very bad especially when Libya is in need of money after all those years of sanctions for being a terrorist state and Monaco has not fully cleared itself of the money laundering accusations. I think she was there on humanitariam visit and probably if anyone like Princess Caroline came to Libya he would extend an official greeting as he is the number one guy there whether one likes him or not? I mean the rest of the world has accepted him as a friend now? I uess that is better than a foe? I think perhaps if she was just visiting the archeticture and on a personal holiday he would still extend a personal greeting to her? But I think she was probably visiting as am ambassador of sorts for Amade probably?

I am very surprised that there is only one little pic from Caroline's visit to Lybia, and a little info.
I can't see pictures from post #130.

Well, Lybia isn't exactly the most popular place on Earth....but, the press did miss the mark in not showcasing a positive visit by a popular royal - looking, most likely, to bring something positive thru AMADE to the people of Lybia (innocent victims - children).

Why do you think Caroline couldn't have gone there for a private visit?
Lybia is such an interesting country to visit, there are so many interesting archaeological sites and beautiful natural spots. An increasing number of European tourists visit Lybia every year, I think it is becoming a fashion destination.
She could have met Geddafi only for a kind and private visit, that's why we don't have many pics.

She looks great -- the greatest for quite some time, I think. She looks refreshed, she's wearing the dress (not the dress wearing her), and seems to have put on some weight which looks great on her. Her face is not haggard.

I agree. Princess Caroline looks terrific today. I like her hair growing longer and the style. It makes her look younger. She seems very happy at the event and enjoying herself. I am so glad to see her looking so well and beautiful. She is my favorite princess!

Chanel suit and Louboutin shoes...but the croco clutch?

Caroline looks great, but IMO she "poses" too much in these pics.

No, I think it is just a lifetime of being in front of the camera and all those lessons in etiquette and deportment paying off big time. :D

It's that rather ghastly dress she wore to the award ceremony in Boston years ago, but she does look younger. I suppose it's because her hair is not fussed over the way it did when she first wore the dress. She also looks more refreshed, her smiles looking more sincere in this batch of pics.

thanks so much giov and iceflower for the wonderful photos - i have not seen that dress before and what a credit to caro to be able to still wear clothes that are years old which means she is keeping her figure. i think she looks wonderful!!!

Nice pictures, thanks for posting, I am glad Caro is growing her hair longer again, I think she looks better with it longer.

Caroline wore the same dress also at the wedding of Prince Philipp von Hessen, with different jewels!
