Samia

My translation: It seems she assisted at an assembly of the European Council. She wore a Chanel dress and also had a Chanel black purse to match. At the Meridian Beach Plaza, she met with Stephane Valeri, the President of Monaco's National Council and the President of l'APCE, that Rene van der Linden guy. I have no clue what l'APCE is. The assembly debated about the crises of violent abuse and exploitation of children. As President of l'AMADE, Caroline is always defending the rights of children just like her mother Grace did. It was the first assembly of the European Council at Monaco since October 2004.

Hey, I was just looking at the biography for Princess Caroline posted on the palace website. I noticed that her first marriage to Philipe Junot isn't mentioned. I just thought it was interesting how that part of her life seems to have been erased. I know that she regrets marrying Junot but I wonder if she still thinks about that time in her life?! I wonder what she would say to him if they met face to face again after all these years (I know that this would never really happen!)? What do you all think? I wonder how she feels about Junot being seen at the same party over the summer as Chantal?
Budge xxx :)

I think she got her first marriage annulled, so in the Catholic church it just doesn't count as having been in existance. I think. I'm Episcopalian, not Catholic, so I could be incorrect.

Whether or not she got an anullment is only relavent in the eyes of the church. As much as she may want to she can't earase the past, because it did happen, if she has memories and there are photos of them together unless she whacks her head and claims amnesia....

IMO She probably learnt some very large lessons about life during that time and wouldn't be the person she is today without having gone through it. In that sense I don't think she regrets it. She took her marraige with Stefano and takes her present marraige with Ernst very seriously, I think her first marraige contributes to this. I also think the way she raises her children without as much restriction as she had contributes as well. She couldn't wait to get out of the palace and escape all the restrictions her parents placed on her and that's one of the reasons she was so eager to marry Junot as well. Also Grace really supported Caroline through the divorce and that brought them much closer together, a blessing to Caroline especially since Grace died so soon afterwards.

I think that if you write your own biography, you can put anything you want in into it! :) (Besides, we all know about Junot, regardless of what's written about Caroline.)

I'm sure she wanted her first marriage to be a success, although the parental opposition probably encouraged her to take the plunge. And sometimes when you're young you're just too inexperienced to know what's really good for you (I'm sure we've all done that kind of thing). Caroline was just too young for a player like Junot.

Thanks

I had one of those "ooh weird" moments today.

I'm watching a marathon on tv of Law & Order: Criminal Intent. The episode this occurred in is titled "The Extra Man". An extra man refers to a single gentleman who is desired at dinner parties for single ladies' escort as well as being interesting conversation.

The extra man in this episode is a con man. When the detectives find one of his 'lairs', he has identification and practice signatures for several prominent people (he had been pretending to be a member of the DuPont family). Now here's the weird part--one of the people was Prince Ernst of Hanover. Thats how they referred to him.

Now this was filmed and originally aired in 2001. Well past when EA had known and married Caroline. One would think this guy (much smaller in build and sharper in looks) would have no chance of passing as someone like EA who has a lot of tabloid exposure. But maybe because the US doesn't really care too much about European royals, the guy figured he could get away with it.

I thought it a very odd place for Monaco royals to pop up. But then again, didn't Albert once say one of his favourite television programmes is Law & Order: Special Victims Unit?

Ernst August's Family Auctions Antiques

HANOVER, Germany - An auction of more 20,000 antiques and art objects owned by the family of Prince Ernst August of Hanover brought in more than $4.7 million Wednesday, the first day of its sale.

Sales began briskly, with a Norwegian buyer paying $214,560 for a triptych by a student of Lucas Cranach. Some 200 other paintings also were sold after the auction opened at the family's Marienburg palace in Hanover, according to Sotheby's auction house, which organized the sale.
"The auction has met with unusual resonance," said Heinrich von Spreti, head of Sotheby's German branch.

Sotheby's now expects the auction to fetch well above the original estimate of $14.3 million, which will be used to restore the palace. The objects were selected by Ernst August's two sons, Ernst August and Christian, who gathered them from Marienburg's attic and cellar.

Some 8,000 interested buyers flocked to the palace to view the furniture, weapons, jewelry, costumes and paintings that are being offered. Many of the objects date from the 17th and 18th centuries, when members of the family ruled Hanover. The most valuable lot is expected to be a pair of Imperial-era vases from St. Petersburg, Russia, valued at up to $894,000.

Ernst August, the husband of Princess Caroline of Monaco, is a distant relative of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II and great-grandson of the last German emperor, Wilhelm II. He is descended from one of Germany's oldest noble families.

The sale runs through Oct. 15.

I think you talk about those two pics.

From Bunte and Worldroots.

C'est vraiment bizarre de comparer Caroline, élégante, très stylée une classe infinie avec cette personne plutôt vulgaire et opportuniste

How long has it been since the palace was last restored? They say that they money is for restoration, but is that much money needed?

I would love to see those 17th century Russian vases! I could never buy them since the bidding starts at almost $900,000! That's insane! But I bet they are amazing. They are getting rid of those things because they are men and they don't care about them, so why not get some more money? It's not like they need more money, but if they can get it, why not?

I wonder if Caroline agrees with the auction. I would think she would be sad to see some of those items going away. She seems like a person who values historical things. But alas, there's nothing she can do really, as they aren't her things.

Can we say Chanel? head to toe. What ever happened to color, she is only wearing black on black, with accesories in black.:D

Thanks everyone for the pics :) Caroline looks great and somehow reminds me of Princess Grace.
