they were taken by m lucie the court photographer. I haven't seen any in the paper yet (maybe today or tomorrow). We were not allowed to take any (didn't bring mine anyway, since I thought it was going to be like that). PA gave some autographs though. (I'm not sure if it was only the kids asking;) )

Thank you very much for the pics, purple!

I think someone is due for a diet after the holidays ;). Btw water temp is 14 degrees. Though outside was warm on saturday with a little wind.

Oh, my, Paca...thank you for the photos, I think...illusions are getting shattered. :(

I was going to say that the camera adds 10 lbs but in one photo where PA is leaving the water it doesn't seem to be the camera that is the problem! And then again in the group shot on the beach HSH is obviously sucking in.

He needs a good woman; unfortunately not me I love to cook & bake. ;)

P.S. I'm new to the site -- I really enjoy all of your observations. How do you get invited to all of the official functions? Do you work at the Palace? Absolutely fascinating for this American...

At least he looks much better topless than in his way-too-small tuxedo.

Yes, he is definetely working on whale size. I guess he should rethink having English breakfast in the morning (as he stated in one interview). I still hope he did't misunderstand fitting his fathers shoes as fitting his fathers suits.;) :D

As to me being present at official functions, that is only the case when they take place in the cathedral, meaning in regular years twice. exceptionally we got invited to the palace (btw I saw a pic, though not in the paper - one could hardly recognize the faces, so in the paper it probaly would have made a big black and white blurr).
I do not work there though one of my older Monegasques friends used to work there as a secretary and is still very well known in the palace.

BTW on the first group picture, if I am not mistaken, on PAs left you can see Rainiers and Stephs kinesitherapist/osteopath. And I think in the back of the second is his MD brother, who should give PA some advise on how to get in shape, because that guy at his age has the body of a greek god.

Guess I am voting now for PA marrying a nutrionist who will get him back into shape and keep him at it. Let's hope we will see PA next year with -20kg.

PS the camera did not add extra pounds, but it did add extra wrinkles. His face looks much younger and smoother than on the pic in the bathrobe.

I guess his taylor couldn't keep up with his growing belly. ;) He definetely has put on a lot since last year.

He ought to be able to afford liposuction and all sorts of operations to remove the fat if he likes. I think he keeps the belly to fight off any women who might be interested. This way he can say "See, noone wants me now, I am so fat!!!! :( I'll die all alone!!" :(

:D :D so first he got rid of all his hair, then he puts on so much fat that people think a whale stranded in Monaco and all this to scare off unworthy women to be able to feel sorry for himself? A notice on the palace wall would have been sufficient. Nah, I think on his last trip to Norway he fell in love with an orca and all his preps for the arctic, getting rid of his hair, putting on some protective weight are just attempts to make her love him back. She probably let him know that she had no intention of spending her life with a skinny lad like him and if he didn't put on a few xtra tons, he could just about forget it.;) :D

We are nasty!!! There are people here who love him so much that we have to say something nice. Our darling prince still has the same dashing smile and good looks no matter what his lovely shape is. And this way he can find a woman with a free shape without her looking fat beside him.

Yes, Donna! I am so sick of "Manorexic" males!! Metrosexual males can be consumed by their appearance and lose the natural charm that PA has...These males watch every calorie and turn down home baked cookies....
It's so nice to see a passionate male for a change!

:D :D :D I like that.

BTW Whales are one of my favorite species.

And i like PA too, though at the moment I am a bit furious with him for letting the cityhall vote for a project that will destroy almost a third of the only childfriendly playground in MOnaco in order to get 40 meger creche places, whic were originally supposed to be integrated in a different project (the have planned for years to get at this marvellous site (great seaview and palace view, real estate are lusting after this site) and it is just a pretext to finally get rid of the last reserve for children where they can actually built sandcastles.(a few years ago they wanted to built sth there and reserve an underground area for cildren with videogames - I'm srprised they haven't figured out yet how to deep freeze the tods and wake them when they are adults and ready to enter the work force, preferably realestate or hotel business) So much about childrens rights. The city pays people to clean up after the dogs, but spending money on kids is apperently not en vogue.

Paca,
What Is a "creche place"? Im sorry--Are they manger scenes for Christmas?

Is it the area on the way down from the Exotic gardens?

I agree. There doesn't see to be much for children in Monaco, except the amusement area in the harbor. Let's hope they will vote on reserving the whole area.

As someone who works for a child abuse and neglect prevention charity in the States, cutting back on the quality of life items for children is nothing new. They lack financial clout so their needs get put at the bottom of the list. (For more info on what I'm ranting about, please check out my employer's website at www.mspcc.org. I am a fundraiser so please pardon my prostelytizing.) I am surprised that PA and others would consider a video arcade an acceptable substitute for parks and playgrounds.

To put this on a lighter note, maybe I could bake cookies to change a few votes or sway influence. From the tone of this thread they would be appreciated in a few corners. :)

No, they are like kindergarden for children under 3. Very difficult to find and for working parents, especially with a low income. But there are plenty of other sigts, that could be used as well (if one had enough good will), if there wouldn't be the realestate lobby wo could make millions on the other possible sites. Also they have been trying to get at it for sometime and I am afraid, that once they start building there, they won't stop.

Yes it is the Parc princess Antoinette. It is the largest playarea for childre in the area that can be reached by public transport. (In Beausoleil there are hardly playareas, so this does not only concern children from MC but also in the surrounding communities whose parents are usually working in MC, but would not benefit from any creche places)

There are a few more play grounds in MC, but this one is the largest and best. And one of the few places were the kids can play without mummy having to worry about dog poo. And it is for free, unless you use the caroussels and racing cars, but even those are cheaper than anywhere else in MC. To loose only a few square meters would be a huge loss for the children here.

I am afraid that cookies won't sway the Pators who are gaining money on every bit that is built in MC.
You could write to PA though. I think one of the projects they had for one of the youth centers was rethought, after Steph intervened, having received plenty of letters.

The videogame project was abondonned after people protested, especially since it was an independent company who wanted to exploit the site. But as I said before, I think this is only a pretext to get people used to loosing this site. Close by used to be the tennis club (not to be mixed up with the country club which hosts the tennis open). It has been recently closed down and moved outside of MC, because the space is needed for aother skyscraper. Since the new site can't be reached by public transport, they have now arranged a shuttle bus. Since there are already a lot of other facilities moved outside of MC, I don't see, why the can't do that with those creche places. ANd since this is a problem which all surrounding communitities share, I don't see, why they do not cooperate. Just arround the corner, my kids scool will be moved to a newer and bigger site, leaving a four storey building empty. It has most facilities already there, except needs major renovation. After that it could hold at least 200 children. LOcal city hall doesn't have the money to transform it properly, but hasn't quite decided what to do with the building.

I think I will have to write a long letter to the press and the prince, which I hope a lot of people her will do. Unfortunately the kids don't have a lobby here. I think PA should forbid by ordonance souverain that anything can be built on this site. that way the problem would be solved once and for all. Or at least till the next prince ;)

Albert is fat, is so strange, I mean... for example Princess Caroline have 4 child and she's skinny and beautiful, Albert is a man and doesnt have any child and is fat  and he does a lot of sports and stuff
doesnt make any sense o_O

Thank you for the explanation,Paca.
I'm glad I asked, because I am kindergarten teacher and I find it sad that Kindergarten programs are not a priority in Monaco....

Your welcome. BTW kindergarden is here equivalent to maternelle. Fortunately there are enough places there, actually more then needed so that they also offer places to children whose parents work in MC or who have other reasons for wanting to be scholarized in MC. By law they have to accept every child that is 3 or turns 3 the firs few months of the school year and wishes to enter the maternelle. Unfortunetely this is not the case with children under 3, which makes it hard for parents on a low budget to find proper care for their kids, once the mum goes back to work. There are no company creches or sth like that, so once you get pegnat, you better sign up your kid and even then you might not get a place. There should be a law that companies of a certain number of employees have to either create places themselves or help the community to create accommodatio for the little ones. The SBM (casino, hotels etc) employs more then a 1000 people and does not have any structure for its employees.

Prince Albert does have a child. He has a son. If you mean, on the other hand, about giving actual birth and Princess Caroline being thin as opposed to Prince Albert not having giving actual birth but still being fat, then I offer this as a possibility (not an excuse, but a possibility).
People under a lot of stress (such as being Sovereign of a country and having to deal with making decisions affecting the lives of thousands; dealing with foreign leaders, etc...) may tend to overeat when under a lot of pressure. Food being used as a way of comforting oneself. I dunno... might be what Prince Albert is doing.
