Yeah, I agree. I looked at the photo and thought it was Charlotte for a second.

You're right and it's weird, because while I find Charlotte very pretty, I've always found Margaux Hemingway quite ugly and manlike!

By the way, awful awful awful photoshop work! I wonder what does Charlotte think of it! If I was her I would be very angry if a magazine played with my image that way, but I don't know what she thinks since Testino photoshoped her in that awful way for the american Vogue pics and she obviously didn't care since she did with him the paris vogue edit.

A couple of recent events I didn't have have the time to say anything about!

I'm sorry but I agree with Lovely Kate. The rain is no excuse!. It's raining for everybody and she is the only one who walks with her head low and trying to hide from the photographers. Also, Virginie Couperic looks as if she is shilding her from the press. Imo, Charlottes is starting to behave like an schizo, seeking press atention and hiding from it at the same time.

Oh, she is so pretty on those pics! And for once, I love her in Chanel! I like everthing, dress, hair, make-up... still a little bit too thin, which makes her face look manly, because her bones show too much but still better than a few month ago. I particularly love this pic http://i56.tinypic.com/300s0fb.jpg
She looks so delicate!

Still, if you look at the gallery of old pics... wow there's proof of how Charlotte was such an amazing beauty some years ago. I've just remembered why I liked her so much years ago. She was really beautiful then. And not just when she was a teenager, there are some pics from when she was 20-21 where she is a beauty. I mean she is still pretty of course, but she has that manly thing and well... she is not the same she is not at all the same she was 4 or 5 years ago

Yes, that's completely true! It's very Isabelle Adjani-esque, don't you think so?

As far as Charlotte being "schizo", I think we need to be realistic, we don't know the context/circumstances maybe it was cold and rainy and she just wanted to get inside, maybe some of the paps/press are rude to her.
As far as Charlotte looking better a few years ago....HMMMM When did Alex appear?????

I absolutely love the picture of her talking with Karl. The best pictures are always the spontaneous ones!

I think she does like the attention of the press but is at the same time wary of it..
She is probably wary about the press because she has a mother and family who have had tremendous experience with the ups and downs of media attention. At the same time she no doubt loves the attention, because it validates her importance, especially at events where she is surrounded by people who have achieved great things.

Thank you!! These pics have been on bew.com for a little while but we couldn't enlarge them because we had to register.
It seems that the no smile attitude is back, and the comment posted on PurePeople is very hard. It's the kind of comments you can usually read about Charlotte on french websites (if you want to have a glimpse of her popularity here).

Thank you for the pics!

Nice to see that she's so close to her godmother. Albina de Boisrouvray is a great woman, very generous, but she shouldn't have used so much plastic surgery. She has a too huge smile, it's frightening.

I don't like Charlotte's outfits. First, because to me brown + black is just awful. Secondly because it seems that she's wearing the shirt she wore at the Patti Smith concert: I apreciate the fact that she recycles, but this shirt doesn't suit her well. And it's blue. Blue + black is awful, too. It seems that Charlotte put on the first clothes she saw to go to this official event. It's a pity because this girl could be so stunning if she wanted to! This "Charlotte Gainsbourg" style is not hers at all, she should be herself, that's the way she's the most beautiful.

I completely agree, this outfit is the pits, and that's not something I've ever been compelled to say before. She has mixed grey with brown in the past too, and seems to be addicted to unfortunate black tights. I'm always a little mystified at the constant citing of her "great" style by magazines, which seems far more self-serving than true.

And, I mean, it's fine if she has a lousy esthetic sense when it comes to her clothes, and the great outfits she does sometimes produce happen by accident. (to me once she reached adulthood and moved out of Caroline's household for the most part, her clothes went downhill fast.) She can care as much or as little as she wants about what she wears, and is under no obligation to anyone else about it. It is a bit painful though, when you see her in something she didn't choose, like the Edwina wedding, and realize how stunning she can be in good hands.

I think Charlotte purposely downplays her clothing. She has heard all the horror stories about her mother and Princess Diana being chased by the paparazzi. Clothing can be very powerful. If you look too good too often you can lose control of your privacy. PC has worked very hard through the European courts to put the genie back in the bottle. I have noticed that both Charlotte and PC can look great when they want to. They turn it on and off like a lightswitch. Charlotte alluded to this in the Paris Vogue article. She said she understood the power of clothing. She also said she liked to look respectable. Respectable is not a word I would choose if I wanted to wow the world with my fashion choices.

I totally agree with you. Charlotte's fashion style was better under Caroline's days. It's the time Charlotte built her queen of style image. But now that she decides for herself I don't think that she's very gifted. Caroline is: she's always well dressed, even when she takes some risks (I know that sometimes she fails). It's more and more obvious that Charlotte can't dress nicely, she made too much fashion faux-pas. Her leather shorts + blue shirt, oh my God: it was ugly!
I don't think that it is a way to control her image. Charlotte is looking a lot for attention, we already talked about that. Remember that Ernst August once said that Charlotte was the family fashion's specialist: I think that she loves fashion, and must be proud of her style. This outfit is very "parisian", but she failed in mixing colours, and type of clothes.

It's funny LovelyKate. I can remember PC saying, in her 20s, that her mother had always picked out her clothes and that she wasn't very good at fashion. That she was a bit of a tomboy. After her mom died she became friends with Lagerfeld and everyone thought she was very fashionable on her own. Maybe history is repeating itself. I think Charlotte likes fashion but isn't crazy about it. Alot of times designers pay her to wear their clothing so she doesn't necessarily pick it out herself.

On another thread, about Princess Victoria, several people are extolling black and brown as a combination (the Doberman look). It is a natural look, and quite winsome in my opinion. I think it does not appeal to people who aren't daring, though. Same with navy and brown or navy and black (heaven forbid!? yet very popular in Paris, both on and off the runway). Deep Parisian navy, of course.

Anyway, I think this Charlotte is spectacular and possesses such incredible natural beauty (her coloring is gorgeous) that she could wear sailor's canvas and still look stunning. I agree that playing down one's clothing helps control media attention.

The world is indeed rarely wowed by respectability - but tends to wag its tongue if respectability is not absent. Seems like princesses really can't win.
