I think that Charlotte and Andrea are a little more shy - less comfortable with public responsibilities where they have to present and/or speak; I appreciate their demeanor - not arrogant or showy.

I would say that if today there is any interest for Grimaldis, it is thanks to Charlene (what I say here is only based on my own experience). Caroline and Stephanie are considered as the old scandalous princesses, and their children are not really known by real people. I speak for France, I think in Germany Caroline must be still known by every part of the population, because of her wedding with E-A.
Gosh, I am really surprised!! Monaco is next to France! I always thought that europeans were crazy about royals...! In Spain, they certainly are. Royal are absolutely famous there; I had no idea that frenchs simply ignore them...

The French don't like anyone, including themselves. I think they probably like them and know of them more than they want to admit. Otherwise , why would the French magazines keep putting the Grimaldis in their magazines.

Oh come on, I think french people know better who are celebrities in their own country Prince Albert, princess Caroline and Princess Stephanie are famous here but they are old and lost naturally their notoriety. Their children are known by very few people. I think we can explain it by the Revolution of 1789 which is one of the most important event in our history. They are mostly featured on the same specialised magazines such as Point de Vue, Gala and Paris match (there are so much more other magazines, trust me). Of course with the two weddings, I would say royalty become a little more popular than before but It is about Catherine and William (Yes, french people really like them). And as monaco is concerned, it's just about the runnaway bride unfortunately. But if you think about the Casiraghi's and the Ducruet's, They aren't recognised by people. That's why I'm here because I can't find a forum in France about them. Even though I hope they would gained popularity in july. Only 7 millions (the 3 channels combined) were watching the wedding on telly (we are 65 millions).

Sadly they are perceived like jetsetters but I was talking about a real forum dedicated to the princily family. Paris Match and Nice Matin allow comments but they are not really a forum.

^ Vanya, I wrote forums but it was a mistake of vocabulary, I wanted to say "websites", I'm really sorry. I don't think that there is a french forum dedicated to royals. Casiraghis are considered as jetsetters, Charlotte is criticized because she wants to be a rider and she keeps on partying, they are not liked because they don"t correspond to what people are living.
Some websites, as someone asked for it:
- well known Paris Match, and Pure People.
- royals websites: Noblesse et Royautés, Royauté Romandie.
- blogs: Pomeline.
- tabloïd: Public.fr .
Read comments after articles about Charlotte and you'll understand what people think about her.

FanofMonaco I think that you shouldn't have written what you wrote about french people. You're wrong, and you don't seem to know anything about us. Just be respectful, thank you.

I totally agree with Titiromi: France is strongly marked by 1789 revolution (and all the other ones which took place during XIXth century) that"s why french are not interested by royalty. I noticed that PurePeople started talking about royals about 2 years ago. It's very recent, and they don't evoke them every day. And when they do it it's to talk about birth, wedding, or fashion (Letizia, Rania, Mary, and now Charlene and Kate). So it's not that french people don't like anything but secretly read everything about royals, it's just that they are not interested by royals. French are interested by other people, artists, politics, or intellectuals, there is no place for royals.

I can't fully agree with you. There are plenty of signs that the idea of royalty is just as interesting to many French people - as long as they don't have to pay for them !

The Royals' "secret weapon" will be little Gaston .....

^ Little Gaston"?? I'm not sure of who he really is, I guess that he must be one of the two families who want to be king, but I can assure you that France will never have a king again. They don't have to pay for them, you're wright! And they don't want to have to pay for them. This project is not in our mentalities, many times the question was asked to french people, in magazines etc, and the answer was "no". And Bourbon/Orléans are even less known here than Grimaldis! But I think that I'm completely off-topic, I stop here.

"Little Gaston" is the son of the Duc de Vendôme, also known as Prince Jean.
He has made it quite clear that he wants to serve his country, not to sponge off it.

I made my statement based on what French people have told me. It is a very different culture from the American culture. French people tend to be alot more negative about things than Americans. We pride ourselves on being the eternal optimists. There seem to be alot of misunderstandings between the French and Americans because we view life very differently. Not saying either way is good or bad, just very different.

According to MONACO TODAY, Charlotte attended a special Ladies Lunch event in St. Tropez earlier this month. Also in attendance was Nick Danziger. There will be a full report of the event in Monaco Life next month.

It wasn't a Monaco Ladies Lunch event, like the ones Charlene & Cecile attend, it was one in St. Tropez. When MONACO TODAY gives more info about the event next month, I'll post it.

I like her outfit! I think it's Stella McCartney. She has worn that before.

The event was given by the Barclay's branch of Monaco ,but it was a ladie's luncheon in St. Tropez. Confusing. The special guest was also a photographer from Monaco.
