I think it is so sad that her father cant be there. I know what he supposedley was involved in is horrible to say the least, but my goodness, he is an old man whos daughter is becoming a Queen and he has grandchildren who Im sure he would want to spend time with. I know there is no forgetting the past but in my opinion there should be some kind of compromise made during this incredible moment in the life of his daughter. Just my opinion.

Have you read the article above? Mr. Zorreguieta is being investigated for complicity! The monsters that made 3000 people "disappear" are in jail, no matter how old they are and how sweet tender grannies they look like.

Actually the article says that some people have lodged a formal complaint in the Dutch judiciary claiming Zorreguieta should be held responsible for his apparent complicity. He is not being investigated yet.
Could someone tell me why this is an issue for the Dutch and not the Argentinians?

A long list of former oficials is being investigated in Argentina for the disappearance of 4 members of INTA, an organization related to the Ministry of Agriculture, of which he was an official. Zorreguieta is among them.

I don´t think it should be an issue for the Dutch. We don´t know how Maxima thinks, but we know this has nothing to do with her.

General question on WA. On another site they were discussing his merits as a future king and one poster commented that he was very tall and towered over most people he met which surprised me. I know the Dutch as supposed to be the tallest Europeans but just how tall is WA?

On the forum discussion about heights, Prince Willem-Alexander is thought to be either 190 cm or 193 cm... so about 6 feet 3 inches to 6 feet 4 inches tall. His cohort Prince Felipe of Spain is 197 cm or 6 feet 5 1/2 inches.

Years ago I went to Madame Tussauds Amsterdam Wax Museum at Dam Square. I remember being surprised about two things: how small Margaret Thatcher was and how tall Willem-Alexander was.

I do not know about the Argentinians but as far as the Dutch are concerned I think that they in general do not care or understand why Zorreguieta will not be present at the wedding.

Correct, I think also, its not the biggest issue for the regular Dutch people, but more an issue for the Dutch parliament. I think the Dutch people don´t care if mister Zorreguieta is present at the inauguration, but in the parliament it will be a hot discussion, so it is a good choice of Maxima to resolve this issue in advance.

I think there is still an exhibition of American Indian art going on, but it is likely the visit has to do with the inauguration indeed. The princess was escorted by the 'newest' Lady in waiting, barones Bibi van Zuylen van Nijevelt, née Jkvr. den Beer Poortugael.
