Queen Beatrix: Current News Part 4 (Jan-Jun 2006)
Welcome to Part 4 of Current News of Queen Beatrix.
When we last left off at Part 3, we had good news: Queen Beatrix had been discharged from the hospital after suffering from a bout of pneumonia following her stay in the hospital from her knee surgery.
Please keep in mind our Posting Rules & Guidelines, particularly about crediting images and posting only current images in this thread and that old images must be hosted via another source first.
Hopefully we will hear more about the Queen getting stronger and healthier in this thread!

When did anyone say she left the hospital? The last thing anyone said about that is that she would be allowed to go after she got better from her pneumonia. If she has been released could someone send me a link to an article about it? I'd like to hear about how she's doing.

I'm so glad to hear Beatrix has left the hospital! She really is a tough woman. God save the Queen!

Queens has been dismissed from Bronovo Hospital, 12 January 2006
Her Majesty the Queen has been dismissed from Bronovo Hospital and returned on Huis ten Bosch Palace.
The Queen recovered so well from the pneumonia that there are no reasons to remain longer in the hospital. The revalidatie (recurpuration?) because of her new knee happens under accompaniment of treated physician Dr. L. J. C. D. Bust up and fysiotherapeut T. of the Marel.

an article from telegraaf.nl : http://www.telegraaf.nl/binnenland/3...ten_Bosch.html
you can click on "televideo" & listen to Willem-Alexander spoke on his mother.
He said the Queen is doing fine, and she already walked without crutches.
"I went to hospital yesterday, and i found her walking in the hospital without crutches,
and they only thing that there is now is they're waiting to release her to make sure there're no bacterial infections that could affect the wound.
but she's doing fine. thank you!"

Oh that's a bit unfair. I'm sure she was a model patient.

Do you think so? To be quite honest, I don't think that she's the easiest person to deal with in situations like this. I think that she knows perfectly well what she wants and what she doesn't want. (Which is a good thing of course, that's what I admire about my Queen! :))

Any pics of her since she's been out of the hospital? They would be greatly appreciated!

The Queen has not appeared in public after she came home, neither will she appear in the near future, so helas, we cannot expect any new pictures soon.

I heard in the news that she was planning to be totally recovered to do the state visit to Argentina (end of March)? I think we won't be seeing much of her majesty untill that state visit...

oh I'm sure she was. but her sheer presence is an intimidation factor. no matter how friendly and relaxed she is, people are always on their toes when she is around because she's the queen.

interesting story being reported in holland today...
the dutch ambassador to London is retiring and some controversy over who will replace him.
the current dutch ambassador to the US Boudewijn van Eenennaam claims he was promised the position. However, Queen Beatrix is reported to be stepping in to veto. She wants the ambassador to London to be her "grootmaaster"(i'm not sure what the translation is, maybe 'chief of staff') Pim Waldeck, as reward for long years of excelent service. plus Waldeck has a clean personal history.
QB objects to Van Eenennaam's private life. He is on his third marriage to a woman named Jellie. It was her second marriage. When they first came to the US together when he became ambassador they werent married yet. QB was none too thrilled at this. I read in the Washington Post that when Van Eenennaam presented his credentials to President Bush, they chatted a bit and Bush said "why wait with the wedding?" Jellie and Van Eenenaam got married a few weeks later in the beautiful city of Annapolis.
In 2003 there was something of a scandal when Jellie fired the embassy chef. The chef claimed it was because he was complaining that she was regularly plundering his refrigerator. there were unconfirmed rumors that this was to facilitate her eating disorder.
Personally I tend to side with Jellie on this one. the same chef went on to start a restaurant in washington dc where I've been several times and I was really not very impressed with the cuisine.
QB supposedly does not like dutch diplomats to have scandalous lives. in the mid 1990s there were rumors that she had Eduard Roell sent from his post in south africa to brusssels before she visited the former country because he was having an affair.
but that is all speculation and may not be true. actually everything I just wrote (besides my not liking the restaurant) is all speculation. but it's still interesting.
