Queen Beatrix swore in Eugene Holiday as Governor of St. Maarten and Frits
Goedgedrag as Governor of Curaçao on September 30, 2010. The swearing
in took place at Palace Huis ten Bosch in the presence of the wives of the
governors.
The appointments go into effect on October 10 when the Netherlands Antilles
is officially dismantled and Curaçao and St. Maarten become separate countries
within the Kingdom. The swearing in is historical, because St. Maarten never
had its own governor.

Queen Beatrix is the most powerful woman in the country

Wednesday 20 October 2010
Queen Beatrix is the most powerful woman in the Netherlands, according to feminist magazine Opzij which publishes an annual top 100.
It is the first time the queen has topped the ranking. Traditionally Opzij leaves Beatrix out of the ranking because she has her position in society by virtue of her birth.

The anp gallery of today's event includes pics of some interesting gentlemen
wearing goldfish bowls, seems Queen Beatrix found that funny as well :)
Maybe some Dutch members can tell us if they had a special meaning related
with the new theatre or if it's simply been a part of the show.

Some total waste of life threw stones through the windows of Noordeinde Palace yesterday.
The Palace is the office of HM The Queen. No one was hurt but it goes on show that there
must have been a cry out there of "all fools unite" as we have incident after incident here
with a total lack of firm sanctions, just inviting other wastes to continue.Infuriating really!:bang:

I have to say that all this agression & vandalism directed towards the RF by some looney individuals starts to make you wonder what is next? Since Karst T. drove his car over several people during Queensday we have seen 3 small incidents of men screaming for attention.

HM will attend the Prince Claus Concert at de Oosterpoort,Groningen tomorrow evening november 10th.
The Concert in Honour of the late Prince occurs once every four years.

The Swedish composer Sven David Sandström wrote a composition based on texts by the late Prince Claus,
the world premiere of which will be performed this evening;" Three Poems by Prince Claus for Choir, strings
and percussion" conducted by Peter Dijkstra. This,no doubt, will be a very moving event to many, especially HM.

Grieg and Rachmaninov is also on the menu.

The guy is identified as Abdel M. He testified that he wanted to speak the Queen. I can't see how he would achieve that by throwing in the windows at her office int he middle of the night in the weekend though.

Apparently he was already seen at the gate of palace Huis ten Bosch too.

Anyway, he has to pay the damage (13.000,- euros) and he has to spend 4 weeks in prison.
