It seems that she is wearing a new small sapphire pendant on her necklace. I can't remember seeing it before at least.

With the matching ear jewellery, same shape allthough they seem larger....Thought they also come from the vast collection of precious stones already in HM vaults.:flowers:

Thx dazzling. The queen was commemorating 130 years of Orange festivities. The first one was the birthday of Queen Wilhelmina in 1881, celebrated in Apeldoorn. Over the years it became the national holiday, better known as Queens day. Some villages however still have Orange festivities on August 31st too though.

Queen Beatrix attended a gala concert to mark the celebration of the 100th anniversary of
the Dutch Society of Composers at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, September 3rd, 2011.

The event was disturbed by a man who climbed on stage, but who got quickly arrested by the police.

** telegraaf.nl: Verwarde man klimt op podium bij Koningin Beatrix ** translation **

Good heavens,I take it he was no where near Her Majesty.

The man was visibly disturbed and tried to speak, saying he was a servant of Allah. He was born in Amsterdam in 1972.

I think it is odd that the last years these 'disturbed' people turn their agression towards HM. We had the guy wo caused a stampede on Dam square, there was the guy who thew things to the golden carriage, and there was of course Karst T. who killed several people while he tried to drive his car against the bus of the RF.

And more news. The private telephone number of HM has been leaked by wikileaks:

One of the 250,000 confidential diplomatic cables published by WikiLeaks earlier this week includes the private phone numbers of Queen Beatrix and former prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende.
The whistleblower website Wikileaks initially said it would publish the cables in collaboration with five international newspapers, in a gradual and careful manner. However, the complete unredacted WikiLeaks file can now be downloaded from the internet.
The cable labelled 04THEHAGUE1017 from April 2004 lists the private and office phone numbers of important Dutch officials, including former defence minister Henk Kamp, former foreign minister Ben Bot and Queen Beatrix:
"NAME OF HEAD OF STATE: QUEEN BEATRIX TITLE: HER MAJESTY QUEEN BEATRIX, QUEEN OF THE NETHERLANDS, PRINCESS OF ORANGE-NASSAU, ETC., ETC.;"

Read more here from Radio Netherlands.

HM attended the Jubilee concert on occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Society of Dutch Composers as just before the concert started a man walked on stage and said: I am a messenger of Allah and a profet and I call on all of you to believe.

I get soooo sick and tired of people claiming that name and hullabaloo:cool:

That man, known to the police,is known as being mentally disturbed and also known for doing these sort of things from time to time.It seems to me that a new policy should be thought of to handle with the nutcases in our country. The guy that screamed at the Dam,the guy that threw a candle holder to the Gold Coach with HM last year.it's getting boring...and more so...Annoying as there is no penalty whatshowever in place thats worthwhile or would scare the next nut off.

There was a speaker planned last night at the Concertgebouw,so when the man entered the stage no-one thought much of it...except for the organising committee who saw someone completely different...And everyone at first thought it was part of the show, heck, with naming that bearded man and calling yourself a profet? That was taken as part of the show?Says a little of the nutty nuts present,it was nuts night, sorry HM,no pun intended...Actually it took a couple of minutes before the man was removed according to journalists present....

The man was taken of the stage swiftly and is under arrest.:ermm:

OK,another case in which nothing serious happened, but pray that there will never be a day that turns out the wrong way please.

Throughout the hullabaloo HM remained seated and didn't show to be impressed in any way.

Exactly 19 years to the day today since a El-Al Boeing 747-200 crashed in the southern neighbourhood of Bijlmermeer in Amsterdam and killes 43 people, including to pilots and a "passenger" on board..

October 4th 1992 - oct 4th 2011.

HM visited the crash-site the next day and was in shock:

To this day we still do not know the exact ins- and outs of this disaster, and what was on board of the aircraft, all we do know is that El-Al Israel Airlines doesn't,and didn't,play by the rules applying to all.All but them...ofcourse.

Today, October 8, Queen Beatrix has unveiled the restored ceiling painting "The Last Judgement"
in the Grote Sint Laurenskerk in Alkmaar. It was created in 1518 by Jabob Cornelisz van Oostsanen.

** Pic ** anp gallery ** belga **

On the murals she unveiled, not one pic of them, only HM and the flower arrangements.Ofcourse that's nice, but not the subject of the event,no murals in sight. They date from the early 16th century, and they have been painstakingly restored the past 7 years and should look baffling.

It is this sort of attention HM dislikes, when they photograph her more then what it really is all about and the work people have had to accomplish that. She feels that is not so fair. But that is what photo-journalists do,picture HM first and foremost. In this case it wouldn't have hurt if they would have directed their lenses up to the baffling ceiling too.:)

I've often felt that way when looking at pics of events attended by members of
royal families - too often the actual event gets pushed into the background as to
the photographers focussing on the attendees only. But of course those pics are
easier to sell to all the special magazines ;)

Here's an additional ppe gallery!
