Oh dear, Minister Schultz van Haegen - Maas Geesterdanus wears a rather special outfit.

Nice to that they used the train again. The last time was when HM went to Copenhagen to a celeration for Queen Margrethe.

If there was a 'Jovial Monarch' award I think Queen Beatrix would win it hands down, judging by the above photo's it looked liked Her Majesty was enjoying herself.

Yesterday, December 6, Queen Beatrix received the Board of Directors of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa, including their chairman Kofi Annan, in Den Haag.

Many thanks for posting the Kersttoespraak, Iceflower, and also the translation.

A dear old friend of HM passed away yesterday,Professor Arie Haspels, the gyneacologist who was in charge of the three ceasarians at the University hospital in Utrecht at the birth of Willem-Alexander,Friso and Constantijn in '67,'68 and '69 respectively.

He was also Honorary President of the Flying Doctors Gala,an organisation Alexander used to be a pilot for with AMREF Flying doctors in Africa, and still flew for very recently a few weeks ago in Kenya.

Professor Haspels also was the inventor of the morning after pill in the '60's.Something that did help to get teen pregnancies here to be the lowest in the western hemisphere.

article on queen Beatrix

On Januari 31st queen Beatrix turns 75. National Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad wants to talk to well-known royal watchers from other monarchies (eg Spain, Luxemburg, Denmark, Jordan etc) to hear their views on the Dutch queen and her achievements over the past 33 years. Suggestions are very welcome at pinedo@nrc.nl. Preferably this week. Thanks!

There will be an avalange of articles, documentaries the lot on occasion of the 75th birthday of HM next week!Dutch AD newspaper starts with a series on the life of the Queen this saturday...But there are the odd bits and pieces too...As seen on Royalblog,no,not by Hans, but by people and articles he describes...One has a series on the "32 Crown Years of Beatrix"...which ofcourse is a sad and bad choice of wording, let alone totally wrong...32 crown years....the poor thing..:whistling::

What a lovely smile! I wish her well.

A beautiful portrait of Queen Beatrix.

Such a beautiful photograph, Queen Beatrix (gotta say it as much as you can as long as you can) really looks lovely and I love the outfit. She really does look majestic.

HM has invited the Royal Household for a night out at the theater tomorrow evening. They must have (almost) all thought it was for her 75th birthday they got an invitation....

The evening will be at the Beatrix Theater in Utrecht, often the venue for HM entertaining the Household in the past. This time the Introdans dance theater will perform, one of HM favorites of which her sister Princess Margriet is Patron.Princess Margriet and Pieter van Vollenhoven will be in attendance as well among other memebrs of the Royal Family.:)
