Queen Beatrix and German President Joachim Gauck attended the opening of the exposition "Dutch Design
- Huis van Oranje" at the Palace Oranienbaum in Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany, today, April 25, 2012.

According to royalblog.nl the event was also attended by the duke of Anhalt and his wife ánd by the Fürst and Fürstin of Sayn-Witgenstein-Sayn (former parents in-law of Corinna SWS). The duke seems to have had some nice words about HM.

The fürst and fürstin must be friends of the royal family, they also attended the wedding of the prince of Orange (with their eldest daughter, who was then married to the hereditairy prince of Oettingen).

HM attended the Gala on occasion of the 125th anniversary of the Salvation Army in The Netherlands.The Queen has a close bond with the organisation ever since she went out one night in Amsterdam with one of its workers to see what it was like and what sorts of people she'd meet.

A Salvation Army Major,Mrs.Bosshardt,took her out and about in dark Amsterdam,more in particular the Red Light district.The then still Princess,it was the early 1960's,had a wig and huge dark glasses in order not to be recognised.

Some photographer did get an idea of whom was roaming the bars pubs and edifices of the District with the Salvation official and made a picture.

Since that day Princess Beatrix and Majoor Bosshardt became lifelong and very close friends until "Majoor " Bosshardt as the nation knew her,died a few years ago.Always dressed in her uniform,always a modest and also direct figur,she embodied the Salvation Army and what it stood for with a touch of humor.She became a national figure,everybody knew her.Her funeral was aired live on national tv,and the Grand Mistress of the Court was in attendance on behalve of HM.

Annecdotes of the "Majoor" are numerous and often hilarious,she had us all in stitchess more often then not.Always dressed in the uniform,always,had the Mayor of Amsterdam,who spoke during the funeral service saying;"She never worried about what to wear"...and had the congregation in stitches..Be it in the homeless shelters where she hosed down junks and what not while spreading the Word,literally,she gave 'm a scrub down herself so they were spic and span again,or visiting HM at the Palace the next hour,it didn't matter to her,it was all the same and what better gear to wear then the uniform..

Oh,btw,it will be a right Royal roundabout in London next weekend,Princess Máxima will be there attending a finance meeting,while HM Queen Beatrix joins Queen Elizabeth at her Diamond Jubilee Banquet along with TM The Emperor and Empress of Japan and other Crowned Heads of Europe and abroad.

Yesterday, May 15, Queen Beatrix has received the chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National
People's Congress, Wu Bangguo and his wife Zhang Ruizhen at the Huis ten Bosch Palace in Den Haag. Wu
was invited to mark 40 years bilateral ties between the Netherlands and China.

Queen Beatrix attended the opening of the new provincial house Fryslan in Leeuwarden today, May 22, 2012.
At the opening the entire Frisian community was involved with 2040 singers from across the province.

According to their website Den Haag Sculptuur, the sculptures are from South Africa and the theme is 'Rainbow Nation'.

Lovely pics Gert-Jan!!I believe it was the first time since february HM dressed in such vibrant & sunny colours.Good!Most of the time HM choose subdued colours since.

HM will arrive in Ankara,Turkey on wednesday june 13th in the frame of 400 years diplomatic relations between our two countries and will be met by Turkish president Gül and Mrs.Gúl who will host a dinner in honour of The Queen.On thursday HM will travel to Istanbul where she will meet Turkish students and professors in a theme meeting on developments ion society and international orientation.

In the vening HM will attend a performance by the Nederlands Dans Theater 2,NDT2.

HM will return to The Netherlands on friday june 15th.

It's not a State Visit,but a semi-official one.

HM hosted another in a row of "Palace symposia" at the Royal Palace Amsterdam last week may 25th.This time the theme was "The New Social Media".

Speakers were,ao,Eric Schmidt CEO of Google,and Professor Robert Dijkgraaf:Chair of the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences and professor at the University of Amsterdam.

The symposia are an initiative of HM herself but are organised twice a year inder the auspicies of the Royal Palace Amsterdam Foundation.

TRH The Prince of Orange and Princess Máxima were in attendance.

HM attends the annual Bilderberg Conference this week,for the 50th time.

This years conference is held in Chantilly,Virginia,USA.Dutch PM Mark Rutte is also in attendance.
