I believe the other men in picture 2 are count Hugo van Zuylen van Neijevelt and one of his sons (either Philip or Roderick, who both are involved in the family business).

Sadly I have never been to Duinrell as a child as my mother couldn't stand amusement parks, even though this one was 10 minutes away from where we lived.

Margriet & Pieter in Ottawa, Canada

They are on a 6-day tour which will include visits to Ottawa and Calgary.

Today they charmed both young and old, visiting vets at the Royal Canadian Legion in Ottawa, and later, meeting with youth at the Canadian War Museum.

It's so nice to have the couple back in Canada!

The Ottawa Citizen has some nice photos and a video.

Thanks a lot for the great link, Squidgy! Princess Margriet looked
wonderful and charming!

Here are two pics of the second visit they've made yesterday:

Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon to a description of a photo album
of Canadian cemeteries in Holland they are viewing in Ottawa May

Margriet presents tulips to Canadian Governor General

Margriet is for a moment at home , the welkom to them is great !!!

That's a nice sentiment, Barber.

The Governor General of Canada, Michaëlle Jean, basically said the same thing today when Margriet presented her with a bouquet of tulips named the Michaëlle Jean tulip. The Governor General said: "Princess Margriet, Professor van Vollenhoven, no matter where you go in Canada, you are at home, and you will always be welcomed with joy, warmth and hospitality." Michaëlle Jean's full speech, (including her condolences to the Dutch people after the sad plane crash in Libya today) can be found on her website.

There's also a good video of the event here.

Iceflower, thanks for your pictures! I was looking for some from that event but couldn't find them! So they're nice to see.

You're most welcome :flowers:

The event together with Michaelle Jean turned out to be another
great photo occasion, seeing them together laughing is so nice,
here are some additions:

Canada's Governor General Michaelle Jean and Princess Margriet share
a laugh after the Princess presented Jean with the Michaelle Jean tulip
during a ceremony at Rideau Hall in Ottawa May 12, 2010.
Later Margriet and Pieter visited Perley Veterans Health Centre (4&5).

Princess Margriet looks very good IMO. And she made a point of dressing well for this occassion: gloves, hat, and even a hat pin.

She received 15.000 euros that will be donated to the Henry Dunant, a ship of the red cross.
