That's what I thought at first, but after seeing photos from different angles, I can see that it isn't Maxima

Yes..This pregnancy is really BIG! It looks very different than the other two former ones. However, even big pregnancy could be girl's ones.

Flag-instruction for the coming princely birth
Communiqué by the Rijksvoorlichtingsdienst 9 March 2007
The acting Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Vice-Premier and Minister of Finances mr. W.J. Bos has, after consultation with the Council of Ministers, issued a flag-instruction for the coming birth of the third child of Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Orange and Princess Máxima of the Netherlands.
The flag-instruction determines that the national flag will be flown, together with an orange pennant, from all the national administrative buildings, agencies, services and all other institutions which ressort under the national administration.
After the official announcement of the birth of the new Prince or Princess, the flag-with-pennant will be put out until sundown.
The Minister of the Interior will request all provincial and municipal authorities to follow the same instruction. The Minister of Foreign Affairs will request all Embassies and Consulates abroad to follow the same instruction.
The Hague,
9 March 2007.

I don't know exactly when Maxima is due, but I have a feeling that it will be the last of this month or the first part of April, just judging by looking at her.

Well for Catharina-Amalia there was more ceremonial, as she is the Hereditary Princess of Orange.
Sunday December 7th 2003
Princess Catharina-Amalia was born in a bright winter sunday (7 December 2003) in the late afternoon. It became clear that a royal infant was born when an overjoyous and sweaty Prince Willem-Alexander appeared at the hospital window, to wave to the crowds outside. Picture.
Later on the evening all public and commercial tv-channels (and many foreign channels) breaked their normal broadcast for a live coverage from The Hague. First the Premier addressed the nation and officially announced that a royal Princess has been born and congratulated the princely couple. Picture.
In The Hague, the royal residence, the 11th Detachement Riding Artillery fired 101 gunshots in honour of the newborn Princess. They did it with great ceremonial in their splendid gala uniforms. Picture.
Then there was a live coverage from the Bronovo Hospital in The Hague. The visibly immensely happy and proud father showed his youngborn daughter to the world. Picture.
The youngborn Princess was dressed in a presentation gown which was worn by her great- greatgrandmother Princess Wilhelmina in 1880 and was laid on a presentation-cushion which was also used for the presentation of her great-grandmother Princess Juliana in 1911. Picture.
Monday December 8th 2003:
At sunset the flags were hoisted all over the Netherlands. In Rotterdam 101 flags with orange pennant were hoisted alongside the Meuse Boulevard. Picture.
Of course the flagging was nationwide. Picture. And Picture.
A special edition of the Staatscourant (State Gazette) was issued, see picture.
With joy I announce to you that
yesterday in the afternoon
my son Willem-Alexander and
my daughter-in-law Máxima
have become the parents of a daughter.
I share in their great happiness and gratitude.
Beatrix.
The personal arms of the younborn Princess were made public. Picture.
I and III: the lion of Nassau and the Netherlands
II and IV: the horn of Orange
Heartshield: the arms of the Zorreguieta family
All over the Netherlands the tradition of biscuit with aniseed was followed. In supermarkets (picture), at schools (picture), in offices, at home (picture), on the street (picture).
At noon, from the Fortresses in the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba gunshots were fired (picture). The same was done from all Her Majesty's naval ships all over the world (picture)
Tuesday December 9th 2003:
His Royal Highness The Prince of Orange went to the City Hall of his residence The Hague. The visibly still overjoyed Prince was received by the Mayor. (Picture).
In front of the Mayor, and with as witnesses the Premier-Minister and the Vice-President of the Council of State (picture), the Prince announced the names (picture). He said: "Her names shall be Catharina-Amalia -with an hyphen like in my own name- Beatrix Carmen Victoria". The Prince made a short explanation of the names to the press (picture).
The names and titles of the youngborn Princess is now registered in the municipal register of the city of The Hague (picture).
Later on the day the Post Service arrived at Noordeinde palace (picture) and delivered thousands and thousands of letters to the princely couple (picture and picture).
Wednesday December 10th 2003
The Royal Post issued special birth stamps to commemorate the birth of the Princess, with all the names and her titles. In no time the whole Netherlands knew her names because we saw it in all letters and cards (picture). The picture of the youngborn Princess was made by her father.
Later:
A special coin was issued by the Department of Finances to commemorate the birth of Princess Catharina-Amalia. The coin is made with a special hologram technique. At one side the Queen's profile, but at the other side the faces of Prince Willem-Alexander, Princess Máxima and Princess Catharina-Amalia appear when the coin is moved in various directions (picture).

Thanks for all the facts and info, Henri M.
Can anyone explain the "biscuit tradition" to me? And is it typical to release special post stamps for royal births, or again only because she was the Heir to the throne?
